irongiantism.com - 100% Pure Vanilla UK DayZ
lazermatt replied to theirongiant's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
My clan and I happily vouch for this server. The entire time we've played on it we haven't had issues with hackers once, and any time we have problems with errors and the likes all it took was a quick PM to the wonderful iron giant on the forums and we were dandy again. If you're looking for a place to call home and miss the way DayZ used to be I highly recommend giving it a go. -
That's funny, because the only time my clan (BoC) ever came in contact with anyone on the server we lost two members by sniper fire while the rest of us escaped in a helicopter we had spent all day fixing. None of us logged out, and we hadn't been shot at by anyone since, because we spent most of our time in the air or at our camp having rave parties (see youtube.com/watch?v=EbwzUPWlzPg ). It also looks to me like you've just decided to ban the two other large clans that play on your server for those scripts instead of actually properly investigate the issue, and hope one of us were the culprits. For instance we actually witnessed one of the hackers while we were fixing up the only legit helictoper spawn on the server at Skalisty Island, we saw a hacked-in helicopter crash on the coast behind us. The driver was a bandit with no gear named Maxy. At the time I had tried mentioning this to you in Direct Comm hoping admins were able to read it but got no response. I have no contact with the OP's DIE clan and have no idea if they are actually responsible for any scripting or Alt+F4ing, but based off what happened to myself and my clan members I'd imagine they are also innocent. I'm not interested in Mercy and don't particularly want to play on this server again after this, but I do believe in justice. You can't just go around banning everyone you THINK might be a hacker and hope the problem will go away. Once again I advise all to steer clear of this server, as if you happen to be online at the same time as a hacker you're just as likely to be banned as him due to the admins laziness and lack of ability to investigate the issue (even though its BattleEye's job to ban hackers, not his).

Just confirming here that I was also banned for allegedly 'Scripting' (Around the same time as half the other frequent players of the server) when in reality the only thing I have so much as touched that might be considered out of the norm is having a custom skin. It was fishy seeing the admin recieving global ban messages but I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt at first. I would have also whole-heartedly recommended this server as it seemed too good to be true when we found it, but now I strongly urge everyone to steer clear.

I logged into a server with the latest beta version (95883) and DayZ version (1.7.2.5) as my female character. I had the bandit mask but the debug monitor was reset as it does when you change skins, so I relogged. Upon entering the game again I had become a male with bandit mask. I'm now permanently a male, though have yet to equip a ghillie or camo. If it results in any odd bugs I'll update this post.

A SOLUTION TO THE CAREBEAR PROBLEM!
lazermatt replied to vonlinchen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dont forget to charge 50,000$ for the pick axes, courtesy of Peter Molyneux. -
Any time we store anything in our UAZ the entire inventory is wiped on restart. Ural was okay, we've only lost a few items from that but the majority seem to stick. Our motorbikes inventory seemed to save fine aswell. I dont recommend storing anything in UAZs for now at least. Those are the only ones I can speak for personally, but from the looks of the thread it seems any of the vehicles with space equal to 50/10/2 may suffer from this wipe issue (see http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=10198 ). I can also add that of the 50/10/2 vehicles I've found in the woods, all of them have been empty (A toyota, some old hatchbacks).

Thanks for the info Jeff, was beginning to panic as our group has just recently decided to make this our home server haha. Great to hear about the official thread and everything, me and my group will be sure to let you know if we run into any hackers and the likes. :)

Any server admin around from this one? Need to get my stuff but seems like its been down a full day now.

I agree with this thread. I've already heard people starting to get obsessed with trying to top that leaderboard by camping with snipers. Granted they'd do it normally, but I feel like this just gives them more incentive. Just look what KDR did to the CoD community.

^ This is very true. A lot of game developers at the moment seem to have just become complete pushovers to the masses and dont really know where to draw the line. Remember back to the Everquest 2/Star Wars Galaxies period where SOE for example didnt give two shits what the community wanted, and when they released the CE & NGEs for SWG and the community hated it they went with the stubborn approach (cover ears and close eyes from their fanbases complaints). That was a huge mistake on their part as I'm sure people can remember, so much so that its become one of the greatest fails in gaming history thus far. I think rocket is doing a great job so far keeping the balance between listening to the masses, not giving two shits and knowing when to revert changes.

The Importance of CHKilroy
lazermatt replied to HoboWithAGlock's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I believe CHKilroy is also how I first found out about it aswell. My friend linked me one of his videos whilst trying to convince me to buy Arma2 (for DayZ). It was his AMRIKIII video that my friend linked me though. I didnt know he had a DayZ one until after I'd been playing it for a while. -
The only real thing that bugs me about Direct Comm VoIP in this game is that it shares the same volume meter (Effects) as gunshots/footsteps/basically everything else. After asking people on the coast if they were friendly I could barely hear them over the rain/ocean. I suppose this may add to the realism though so I guess I'm willing to put up with it.
