Server hoppers: A renewable resource.
Hell-In-A-Handbasket replied to -DMG-Jonesy's topic in General Discussion
server hoppers were in the mod Majorly also, and loot respawned every 15 minutes at LEAST. Hoppers hop because they want everything as quickly as possible, the only way they would not hop is if you gave them a full loadout when they spawned in. -
Server hoppers: A renewable resource.
Hell-In-A-Handbasket replied to -DMG-Jonesy's topic in General Discussion
agreed, and i don't see it getting any better unless Private Hives are added back in. i would go into a Public Hive and in less then an hour all sorts of hacks would show up. private hives, and the game is actually fun, there becomes a sense of community and not a CoD Zombie Mod. And rarely any hacks, glitchers, server jumpers, ghosters. the game became what it was designed to do -

Standalone any better off in terms of ******
Hell-In-A-Handbasket replied to harley001's topic in General Discussion
1. nope they are still here, and VAC is enabled according to the Steam Store Page, and the Hack sites and streams show the hacks are not having issues. 2. not as many glitches as the mod, but a vast majority of features of the mod are not in standalone 3. community blows, KOS is the norm, Server hoppers are the norm, because items don't re-spawn until server restart, anything weapon wise is a good chance of being gone. its still ARMA 2, because ARMA2 is currently $12 on steam, better off just getting and playing the MOD on the private hives. -
yes because that solved the issue in the Mod, the only thing that solved the server hop issue even when items re-spawned every 15 min was private hives
-
the livestream was today about an hour and a half ago, and the Hack still works even WITH VAC enabled
-
earlier today i was watching a livestream of a hacker, advertising his hacking program, it was posted on reddit then quickly taken down by the reddit mods. the hacking is out there, the person could see everybody and everything, labeled, and with the hitbox's showing. and the server was dead of night with no moon. the person was even killed yet was still walking and moving around unconscious. if i would have known they were taking a blase approach to the issue that killed the mod, i wouldn't have bought the standalone. the client can do it because it knows everything within a good size radius, it will not be solved because its the same game as Arma2. despite rocket saying it wasn't going to be and ignoring the hacking or believing its not happening is not going to make it go away. IRL History has proven that

How can we make a players life more important than his gear?
Hell-In-A-Handbasket replied to knawx's topic in General Discussion
how would a beard or braid make your life more valuable, mainly because if somebody is stealing anything from you, high % they will kill you once they get what they want. and making killing even more prevalent to keep others from getting said beard or braid -
How can we make a players life more important than his gear?
Hell-In-A-Handbasket replied to knawx's topic in General Discussion
people will KOS people regardless of gear or beard. they will and have been KOSing fresh spawns off the coast. about the only thing i can think of is make team work almost required. an ability that is useless solo, gets better with another person and more people. heck tie loot quality and quantity to number of people in a small radius -
Map of Dayz SA + Loot spawns
Hell-In-A-Handbasket replied to TheWillyMonster's topic in General Discussion
it is nice for loot spawning, but common sense is also at play if you see a military building, obviously military loot will spawn there if you see a residential building, obviously residential loot will spawn same with industrial, grocery stores. you can easily know what type of loot will spawn in any given location by just thinking about it for a second, there is no set spawn, a certain gun does not spawn in a set room in a barracks, its random so you will not be able to camp a Barret 50 cal server to server, as it is not a guaranteed spawn anywhere -
if your expecting to see stuff immediately you are correct. but your eyes will adjust, and you will be able to see IT IS SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN

the Human Eye adjusts WAY better then you think it does when there is few light sources. i have black out curtains in my house, and guess what, after a good bit of time, i can see perfectly just from the glow of the alarm clock and even less light i can see perfectly fine. ill give a basic example, during any war, maneuvers still happened during the night, George Washington crossed the Deleware at night and snuck around the English troops, there were no light pollution from cities and he couldn't use torch's as it would give away his position, he and every single one of his army of around 6000 people and horses didnt have a problem seeing at night, during the winter, with little light. now here is the results from a random google search regarding being able to see during the night with little light, shame nobody else goggled anything thinking its perfectly fine to not be able to see, fact that not being able to see is proven that you are sick and have a disease http://www.ccmr.cornell.edu/education/ask/?quid=612 http://www.aoa.org/optometrists/tools-and-resources/clinical-care-publications/aviation-vision/the-eye-and-night-vision now if anybody is having problems seing in low light conditions, there is a partial solution ( the Bold Underline is mine and the important part ) http://health.howstuffworks.com/human-body/systems/eye/eyes-adjust-darkness.htm Obligatory Wikipedia Articles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptation_(eye) if you have problems seeing in the dark http://www.wikihow.com/See-in-the-Dark ( i personally use the " eye Patch " technique when i wake up during the night and want to get a drink, i keep one eye closed whenever i have to turn on a light, allowing me to still see in almost near darkness after i open the fridge or other light switch and able to use both eyes after a while ) now because ALOT of articles say it can be caused by Malnutrition and lack of Vitamin A, i will admit vision can be bad in game, but should not be bad if your not starving. also the Vitamin A cure could fix it ingame by eating the ingame vitamins

Under 100K active players
Hell-In-A-Handbasket replied to twistoff's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i stopped playing after 2.5 not because of the hackers ( only been hack attacked twice since i started playing, first time i died, second time i managed to escape ) but because of the crap in the game. a number of things just dont work and its not worth playing. i don't give a crap if its alpha, major features not working is pointless. will i get the " minecraft style " standalone, hell no , the standalone is going to be the same thing, same engine, just more secure from hackers to a degree, the only thing that will change is that we will have to pay for it. it will forever be alpha, mainly because currently Alpha is the best excuse for stuff being broke there is. once it gets out of alpha that excuse is gone. i have not visited the site since leaving and seems the low active numbers seems alot of the player base is gone also. makes me believe that Rockets meetings with the " whos who" of the industry was a trip to see if anybody would buy it. -

Do you take a problem seriously and make an attempt to fix it after multiple people screaming about it in your face, or a nice polite email? You can bet your ass the people infront of you with pitchforks get the problem fixed, where the email with posies get back burner If people dont complain about a problem, and complain alot, nothing gets done, its better to shut up the majority then the quiet minority And when selling something, tou want the money from the majority, not the minority -

Hell-In-A-Handbasket replied to uberwolfe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ahh yes, the alpha excuse, google uses a perma Beta for all their stuff. Alpha is just an excuse to not have to fix anything. Guess what this alpha is leading to,,, nothing except yet another Alpha. Whats the point in testing this " alpha " when stuff isnt getting fixed, he said himself during an interview he doesnt like Fixing the bugs and would rather push new stuff. Its a good giveaway that his " minecraft " releace cycle is just an attempt to cash in asap before people migrate away. You can be rest asshure that the standalone " Alpha " will last a long ass time, and will be in same shape as this " alpha " -
Is this game dying?
Hell-In-A-Handbasket replied to uberwolfe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i find the game boring and " whats the point " but because of the tent/vehicle bug, there is nothing left. i dont hunt people, i got up close to 11K humanity last night from 10Kish. vehicle i was repairing, gone with only 1 part left to repair, where was it, its original location, with everything in the truck gone, as well as fully broke. i have yet to get a tent to work since .4, and all the tents iv found that went up in .4 go fully empty if anything is placed in it before restart @ .5 yes it was saved multiple times. -
If you hide a vehicle, and log out, will it stay there?
Hell-In-A-Handbasket replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
it will stay there yes but once server restards it will revert back to all broke and put back @ original location, after doing multiple .5 servers, it happened to all of them, different vehicle types -

this isnt WoW, the content is all player created, if you feel there is a lack of content, then create it. the Trade Federation created content, Dr. Wasteland created content. games like DayZ are not like WoW, end game is the moment you step off the beach -

Is this game dying?
Hell-In-A-Handbasket replied to uberwolfe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i still play because i have a friend that plays, so i play to be his cover / support. other then that i have no interest in the game anymore, it has turned into a slower version of CoD that i have no interest in the CoD mindset. if you like and want to play CoD, go play CoD. reason being is yesterday had our teams camp greifed, bus thrown in the lake, car and ATV filled with medical supplies and food and then person stayed there to snipe those that spawned in and tried to get away. literally if you wanted some gear / food by all means help yourself. but to destroy all our stuff then stay and snipe, thats asshole mentality from a jealous child prick. the game is to survive, we were, your not surviving by destroying all our stuff and kill us. if you were surviving you would have just taken it and left, not hung around and destroyed everything. apparently you have a misunderstanding movie based version of surviving. if people survived the way you do in real life, humanity would never have evolved past the age of tools i have already gone from wanting to by the Standalone, to 5 inches from going to the hacker site and nuking every server and player around and i already regret telling people about the game, as so far that count is in the double digits that play because i showed the game to them and play, and i regret telling or showing this game to any of them due to the way the playerbase has devolved to. Humanity 10,100 never killed a single person, have been killed by multiple
