I'd no doubt try and be as helpful as possible and work with as many people as I could. I wouldn't hesitate to put down somebody that presented a threat to the security though. But that isn't really that different then how I play in game. I'm not a ruthless bandit. I'll help people when I feel like it's safe enough to do so. I don't kill everyone on sight. I just take certain opportunities when they're presented to me.

Please stop with anti-sandbox suggestions!
replied to Arnoldio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Are we really differentiating a hard game from a fun game right now? Has gaming devolved so much in this day and age where these are two different things? Sad. -
Which T-Shirt design would you buy?

I'd buy 1 in a heartbeat. 2 I'd consider. -
The ability to find skins laying around in the world is replacing the bandit skin removal.

THE Firewood thread
replied to 's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Has he visited a forest recently? That stuff falls off trees. Like, all the time. It just lies right there, ripe for the burnin'. A hatchet would be cool if I'm building a shelter, a litter for injured companions, or a raft - things that rely on precise cuts and strong wood. But a cookfire? I can make that with twigs, leaves and bark. >Complain about there not being any wood in the forest. >Complain that rocket is trying to implement an item that would allow you to get wood in the forest Ishiggidydiggidy -
The reason not to kill everyone you meet is the possibility of an ally in the apocalyptic wasteland, which makes meeting goals and doing things significantly easier. The mod isn't here to hold your hand or try and influence your decisions. The entire point is that rocket simply wants to give you the world, you decide what happens in it. If nobody wants to work together nobody will. If everyone wants to everyone will. He doesn't want to force/encourage/promote either thing happening.

Well first as to the conversation that has started to pop up. As an unwilling bandit the bandit skin is a curse. I got my skin in self defense, then you keep it because everyone shoots on sight. I help people all the time. I've welcomed survivors into my looting groups several times. I've saved bandits and survivors alike from hordes of zombies. I've offered to help transfuse people that need it. You know what I get for my trouble 9 times out of 10? A bullet in my head because of the skin I have on. I've found more friendly bandits then survivors ever since I switched sides so to speak. The people who shoot bandits on sight are worse then the bandits themselves in most cases. As to the original point of the topic. The entire point of the mod is not to add incentive behavior, but give us a world and the options and see what happens. Doing so goes completely against rockets goal and vision of the project. Part of why he's removing bandit skins. It's simply not working with what he wants. Also kind of buggy.

An open letter to the silent majority
replied to Satire (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The 90-9-1 rule. I'm sure rocket, like most devs, understand this. -
Well that sucks. Offline I can run it at a solid 20-30 fps depending on where I am. Online it runs at like 5-10 fps depending on where I am.

Your first reaction to seeing a zombie
replied to nix9862's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"Hey there's a zombie" What other reaction should I have had? I was playing a zombie game, I assumed they would be around, lol -
My first murderer was shortly into my first life. I was at the dock/train depo and I saw another survivor while walking out a building. From the way he was standing I was sure he had seen me, and he didn't fire so I assumed friendly. I walked over to the nearby fence and was just looking around when I get shot in the side. I turn to see the survivor shooting me I returned fire a bit but ultimately died. My first murder was rather simple, I had a CZ I had decided I was fed up with spending hours finding gear and helping people to be put down by some bandit I never saw, so it was time for me to take up banditry. It was the middle of the night and I spotted some guy running down a road. Bam, dead. That simple.

In exchange for exclusive access to two valuable areas you'll attempt to keep an area of crap safe for survivors? You're nothing more then organized bandits with a friendly face. Best of luck with that. -
Game Design Analysis: Why Cross-Server persistency must die
replied to Tartantyco's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I heartily agree with the issues raised in the original post. These are things that have to be addressed as they're rather important to the atmosphere of the game. However this being in alpha I agree with rocket that this does not need to be a current priority. I also disagree with the proposal of how to deal with this. I agree with mostly everybody in this topic, cross server persistence is also an important mechanic. The problem is we need a solution that allows both to coexist. A solution I personally can't think of but I have faith in rocket and look forward to seeing what he has up his sleeve. -
Will next patch fix zeds attacking through walls?

I hope not, I think we all remember the first time we learned this. It's like part of your rite of passage into being a DayZ player. -
Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed
replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Sure it can devolve but it doesn't mean it will be an all out death match. I got my bandit skin in self defense but those two kills dropped my humanity to a whopping -8000 so I just stopped caring and shot those I felt were untrustworthy on sight, though I'd still at least try to help out anyone that needed it. Anyway, the point was I was in bandit skin, I'm shoot on sight for just about every player and yet today I was wandering through the woods trying to meet up with a friend when another player approached me out of the blue. We took our positions behind trees and the conversation went something along the lines of, "Just walk away and we won't have any problems." "I could've shot you already several times I'm just looking to tag along." "Fine come on." And we proceeded to have a grand old time playing for two hours before he pulled a massive zombie mob that I couldn't save him from. Basically I was already shoot on sight for pretty much everyone, I wouldn't have blamed him one bit if he shot, hell I probably would've in his situation. Yet as a bandit I still managed to find someone friendly enough in survivor skin to play with for two hours. So I'm not too worried about finding someone friendly enough to play with once bandit skin goes away. Can't wait for this update, release it already D:< -
Yes' date=' but it is a brand new, AAA, game, right? Or is it AA? D+?? [/quote'] To be fair it released on consoles 2 months ago, so it's pretty easy to know whether or not it sucks by now.

I was at 2,514 humanity. Someone shot my friend so I killed him in return. This took my humanity from the 2,514 to around -3,300 This instantly gave me a bandit skin. I head downstairs of the building I'm in and check out a loot pile next to me and I get shot in the back, so I turn around and shoot another survivor that had just shot me in the back. This brought my humanity down from around -3,300 to about -8000 That's a lot to earn back for 2 kills in self defense lol

Is humanity supposed to drop this fast?
replied to 's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It was definitely him who shot him, because we were inside a building, not visible from the outside and up a ladder. My friend was showing over the edge trying to loot some zombie corpses that were sitting there and he got popped in the head from down the ladder. I waited a few seconds and up comes that guy and I shoot him.
