Anyone Else Encountering Flush Problem ?
BlackAlpha replied to lxHorizonxl's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I get this usually after the game is minimized. The solution is to never minimize the game. This happens even on the latest beta. Flushing doesn't always fix this problem for me. Sometimes flushing doesn't do anything. Sometimes flushing crashes the game. So I instead restart the game when I get this problem. -
Well. All coordinates in that transmission lead to a deerstand. I can't imagine OP fakes this whole broadcast. We have maps that lead to all deerstand. There's no ingame background noise in that sound file the OP posted. No wind, no birds, nothing. The transmission is too clean, so it was not recorded ingame. Which indicates it was fabricated outside of the game. But, the sound file is not in the mod files. The OP said he has found food on a dead zombie soldier, but zombie soldiers never have food on them, simply check the looting tables. No one else has found a radio that plays the fabricated transmission. The OP has refused to post a video. Think before you blatantly believe something a stranger tells you. Amnesty, does the sound file you posted come from the DayZ mod? Or did you trick people into believing it does? Did you create it yourself? If so, are you going to create something that will actually end up being used in the mod?

The problem lies in the player, not the game.

I think it's supposed to spawn on the ground. It explains why the cleanup script removes the loot after an X amount of time. Rocket said it should be fixed in the next version.

That's why I don't trust people anymore when they tell me they are friendly. it happened a few times that they said they were friendly but they ended up killing me or my teammates. Now, the only way you are friendly to me is if you are not within my rifle's effective range. So either run away or intimidate me and make me run away. Once we are far apart from each other, then we'll be friendly. ;)

You go in with a large group. You setup sniper observers to watch the area from different angles. Then you setup sentries with shorter range assault rifles to watch the areas the snipers can't see. Then one guy goes in and does the looting. As soon as an enemy is spotted (everyone who is not on your team is an enemy), you immediately mobilize the entire team to take him out. You generally try to flank because you want to be aggressive, people usually don't expect that. Once the area is clear, you continue looting, until you are done looting or another enemy shows up. If you go alone to the North Western Airfield, you might as well hit escape and click on respawn because you will get shot at some point. It's like gambling with your life. Same counts for Stary Sobor.

why sacrifice carebears safety for sake of bandits ?
BlackAlpha replied to unsobill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, you could. If you checked the stats, you would've seen that less than 10% of all players had the bandit skin. On the leaderboards, when filtered by the amount of murders, you would've seen that pretty much everyone on there had a bandit skin. Conclusion: People with a bandit skin kill lots of people. There are some exceptions, as some people get a bandit skin due to self defense but they are the minority. Unfriendly bandits are the majority there. On top of that, people with a bandit skin, even when they are friendly, feel the urge to kill others as a means to defend themselves. So even "friendly" bandits will try to kill you at some point. Serial murderers keep the bandit skin. They are the guys who do the most damage. We all know there are many of such people, who just go around and kill people for the hell of it. We all know that if you meet them, they will kill you. We all know they wear the bandit skin. So, it's quite clear that people with a bandit skin will often try to kill you. It doesn't matter that 5/10 bandits are friendly, because the next bandit you come across, could put an end to your character. So logic dictates, we should kill all bandits to defend ourselves from possible death. It's a great way to preemtively defend yourself, and people who complain about the removal of the bandit skin know that. By the way, I'm not saying the bandit skin shouldn't be replaced by a better, more realistic system. -
why sacrifice carebears safety for sake of bandits ?
BlackAlpha replied to unsobill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How is that a false statement? It explains your story, why everyone is killing each other. Why do you think there is zero trust, right now? Because you cannot identify the worst bandits any longer, so you are constantly at risk of getting killed out of the blue. So, people's natural reaction to this is to distrust everyone and kill them before they can kill you. As you can see, my previous post is an explanation for your statement. Also, from my previous post you can conclude why people are so upset about the removal of the bandit skin. It's not that people want the bandit skin. What people want is not to get backstabbed all the time. By removing the bandit skin it's now made easier for people to backstab others. Since there are no ingame safeties or real life emotional safeties to prevent mass murder, people get upset. -

why sacrifice carebears safety for sake of bandits ?
BlackAlpha replied to unsobill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hardly. The answer is simple. It makes it easier to blend in. This is an advantage for people who simply want to kill everybody else. It's harder for people who want to work together because you cannot identify as easily anymore who is a hardcore bandit and who isn't. This means that bandits get an advantage when the bandit skin is completely removed. Why is the bandit skin being removed? Probably because it turns the game into "Survivors VS Bandits". Rocket never intended the game to be like that, so for now the flawed system is removed and it will probably be replaced by something else in the future. Rocket said so himself (paraphrasing heavily): "System is flawed, will remove bandit skin, will keep humanity for a different system." -
You run faster with a pistol out. You crouch walk faster with a main weapon out. You can sprint for max speed, but over time, you slow down back to regular running speed, which then is your max speed until you rest.

THE Day is TOO DAMN BRIGHT Thread.
BlackAlpha replied to RetardMagnet's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, I think the problem is caused when the sunlight hits the atmosphere. There's clearly way too little molecular absorption going on! Rocket needs to fix that shit! -
I don't see what's wrong with that spawn point. It's actually a very good one. It's the closest spawn point to Berezino. Go to Berezino, it's only a 15 minute run. Once you get there, grab all medium tier loot (hunting rifle, backpack, map, compass, revolver, medical gear, etc), and then make your way west to the more interesting areas. The real horrible spawn point is on the islands, south west of Krutoy Cap. You have to swim to get off, which means you lose all your gear. This sucks especially when you've been teleported there due to a database reset and you lose all your high end gear...

Character forced respawn point? duping? Wut.
BlackAlpha replied to Vegas3t's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sounds like the server didn't save the characters properly, which means you respawn with the exact same character/gear and in the exact same spot every time you die. -
As soon as I saw the title I knew you were going to suggest that and I'm here to tell you that it doesn't work that way. Your body temperature rapidly decreases when you drink alcohol. Exactly! Alcohol only works against radiation. Get your facts straight before posting such a ludicrous topic! :D

Your Definition of Self Defence?
BlackAlpha replied to Latros's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A raised weapon equals hostility. Lower your weapon if you don't intend to shoot people. I often run around with my weapon raised, but I do that for a reason. If I run around with my weapon raised, I will shoot whoever has their weapon raised, which basically means I shoot (almost) on sight. I usually do this around popular (dangerous) areas. In CQB it's very much an instance of shoot on sight no matter what (but I don't shoot people in my team, obviousy). It's simply too dangerous to let people come close. In the open, I often lower my weapon to indicate I don't intend hostilities. I then try to avoid people when possible. This seems pretty hostile, right? Why am I so hostile? It's simple. It keeps me alive. The best way to stay alive is to avoid strangers whenever possible and when you do come across them and they've spotted you, you shoot them. This strategy has kept me alive for almost 3 weeks now. -
Keep in mind that the solution has to be possible without modifying the game engine. This is, after all, a "simple" mod. I doubt it's possible to add things like keeping the character ingame for X amount of time after a player disconnects. Well, actually, it could be possible, but knowing how that stuff is handled, it will probably be buggy as hell. There's probably a much easier solution. Rocket simply needs to refine the disconnect penalty up to the point that it can detect when a player is in any sort of danger. Then give the player a proper penalty. When a player takes damage, starts bleeding, gets shot at or shoots himself, the client can detect that and the client can activate the disconnect penalty. This information is sent to the local server. If the player disconnects during the disconnect penalty, the local server forwards this information to the HIVE, which will then perform a punishment on the character in question. The way the punishment is decided could be with a simple point system that is hidden from the player. With every unauthorized disconnect, 1 point is added. Over time, let's say two days, 1 point is removed. The punishment could be: 1. a simple warning at first; 2. removing a lot of blood/health; 3. removing random gear and removing almost all blood; 4. And finally, killing the character. An additional punishment could be a short, temporary, incremental ban from all servers. With that I mean like a 10 minutes ban at first, and a 1 day ban when multiple unauthorized disconnects happen. I believe all of the above is within the scope of the current modding possibilities. In fact, I bet Rocket is already working on a similar system.

The question remains, why can you not get enough money to buy the game yourself? You cannot get a job? Are you poor? Do you have to prioritize money for food over video games? Are you struggling for your life? What is the reason you have to come onto a forum and beg for a video game? Also, you have to realize that you are begging for a luxary you do not really need. I mean, if you really cannot get the money yourself and you are in a bad situation, you should be asking people to send you money for food or whatnot. You have internet access, and judging by your profile, you access the internet frequently. Since you have internet, you have access to countless of free games that you can play. So, I cannot help but think that you do not really need us giving you money for this game.

I don't think walls reduce the noise you make. So if you get close it doesn't matter if there's a wall in the way or not, they will spot you.

How the hell do you get in a server?

Click on a server and hit "enter" over and over and over... and... over...
