Thats the question. Is the 556 Supressor useless or not effective in DayZ? I made the experience that you cant silence a factory load 5.56 round, thats because the projectile is moving at around 1km/s when leaving the barrel, the projectile will create a supersonic boom. BUT you can silence the Muzzle flash, slow down the gas, so that your enemy wont hear your gun, but only the projectile, which makes him unable to hear where the fire is coming from. For some reason in DayZ the M4 sounds the same with and without the silencer. So its not effective yet. Am i right?

If you have never used one with both kinds of ammo, then you shouldnt talk here. 5.56 subsonic will still kill, but only with directly hitting life important organs. a big variety of semi/full-auto firearms dont need special customization to cycle with subsonic ammo. Including the M16/M4. And even if not, by using a supressor and supersonic ammo you would still have the nice effect of not getting spotted when engaging enemies. because they still cant here where the fire is coming from. They will only hear the bullet passing them without knowing from which direction it came.

i dont know if you guys understand my point. What I mean is: Make the Silencer work, and everything will be fine.

alright, i can be a dick aswell. in dayz the only place to find .223 ammo is in military camps. military uses 55gr projectiles, usually with a lead core. armor piercing abilities areonly present if using the "green tip" steel core projectile, which is not the one used in dayz :P

You can easily modify your gas system or change the springs on a gun to make them work with subsonic, that wouldnt be the problem. But in DayZ it would be a problem. Believe me or not, but the ballistic effects of the .223 work the way i told you, at least the surplus military loads and projectiles. Due to the heavy tail of the bullet, the front gets slowed faster, that will make the bullet turn over. The twist rate of a barrel only affects the spin on heavier or lighter bullets which stabilizes them inflight. Actually it is pretty stupid to try and silence the 5.56 projectile. The bullets weight, dimensions and purpose was totally building up on the very high velocity. You have to know that the 5.56 is the fastest caliber on planet earth, being fired from handweapons. Back in the invention state, the military wanted a bullet which does not weight much, and which creates ugly wounds inside a body. The 5.56 was perfect for that. The bullet shape, weight and speed made the projectile begin to twist after entering a soft target, which creates really ugly wounds. That caliber was not intended to kill at the first shot. The average 5.56 projectile weights 55 grains, which is 3,56 gram. The average 7,62x51NATO projectile weights 9,6 gram which is 145grain. The design of the 5.56 can ONLY work in supersonic speed. The purpose of silencing a 5.56 rifle was not to silence the whole gun, like you do on other bigger caliber rifles. The reason why they wanted a silenced 5.56 was because silencing the explosion in front of your barrel makes the enemy not able to hear from where he is being shot. Trust me, you cant hear where it is coming from, if you only hear the sonic boom of the projectile.

Hello together, i play DayZ since 2 weeks now, and had a fully equipped character with the best gear you can get. Unfortunately when i logged in on tuesday, i saw that my Charakter has been reset. I couldnt choose if i want to be male or female, i just spawned on the coast again. After logging in and out several times nothing changed. Okay i thought, might be a bug of the Alpha. So yesterday i played for several houres again and logged out in a big residential in Berenzino. When i logged in today, i found myself in the Male/Female selection screen, and spawned in at the coast again. Now im wondering if somebody else is using my CD Key, or if my CD key is Cursed. I bought Arma 2 Combined Operations via Amazon about 1 1/2 years ago. My ingame Playername is Michael, pretty common. I have seen some servers where other people also had my name and my name appeared as "Michael (2)" instead of "Michael [b-p]" (b-p is a clan). I hope you can help me. I want to play with my friends. But my character got wiped out 2 times now. Maybe an DayZ admin can see if my CD-Key is used by somebody else?

My game version of Arma 2 is stuck at "95248" and it does not update to 96061/63 Does anybody have an idea how to fix this?

Hello guys, im quite new to DayZ and i have a small problem. The game is no fun to play anymore. I got decent equipment, but i want to get better. I have 3 Bandit-Kills right now, and shot about 10. Always when shooting someone with better quiptmen (for example a .50BMG rifle) he just dissapears. A few minutes ago, i sho a ghilliesuitet m24 sniper dude in the head, the body just dissapeared into the ground, i can hear the flies but the body is dig, nobody else was there, since i had an Infrared rifle I could see everything. Please fix this, i feel like i am the only one who doesnt Alt-F4 when getting shot.

I experience the same problem today, my friend since yesterday. I didnt have the problem, but as you maybe know, on some servers when trying to load, it gets stuck at "Loading" or "Waiting to create Character". It doesnt continue loading then... Maybe it tries to create the character but doesnt load the position, when exiting the game it doesnt save a location and maybe spawn you back on beach, but with same gear? That could be a possible reason.

Hey folks, i fixed the problem with the used cd key now, and got a totally fresh one from Petergames, now i have another issue i want to talk about. From time to time i get kicked when i am joining a server. I get to the Screen where i see the list of available slots, and then i get kicked after a few seconds. Sometimes i get to load up, see my character and get kicked then. I have no idea why. The Problem is that i cant see any reasons on the bottom left corner, or in the Kick message. I have a fresh installation of Arma and Dayz and played for 2 houres today. Only on official DE Servers. Sometimes i can play without a problem, and sometimes i just get kicked, like now. Anybody has an idea?

Okay, that could be a reason. I have some problems with my router at the moment, its pretty slow and the wlan is not that stable.

Got the second key now, works fine!

Got my new Key today. Reinstalled Arma, patched up, installed Dayz, tried to play: "CD Key in use" fuck this game

I called them 2 days ago and told them my email adress and the cd key, they said they will contact me. Sent them a seperate email yesterday, still nothing heard from them. What a bunch of lazy bastards.

Contacted Peter Games today. They said they will eMail me with the new Key etc.... lets see how long i will have to wait...

Okay, i have some new Intel. I tried to log-in and see if something changed again on my character, I usually stopped playing at 9:30 pm because my friends had to sleep so i checked out if somebody is playing at a later time with my Key to get sure that its not the CD Key in use issue. Unfortunately it said "CD Key already in use" I bought "Arma 2: Combined Operations" form a retailer about 1 1/2 years ago. Where do i get a new key now? I wont pay 25 bucks because some retarded kid or stupid developer duplicates keys. No way anybody could get my CD Key by checking out my game boxes. Since about 3 years, i have all my Computergames and software informations in a Safe.

Thats pretty sad. No sense to continue playing this game because the character can be wiped out in the next day. Pretty fucked up with the CD key database, maybe somebody hacked it.... ?

Just found out that i get kicked from some servers. What could this be? I need info from the DayZ guys if i should contact Bohemia for a new cd key or not.

I guess joining unofficial servers is not the problem. I only play with friends. All my friends still have their characters. we logged out 5 meters next to each other. I had nice gear. m24, mk48, glock, ghillie, all tools you can get. epipens, morphin, antibiotics and all stuff you want... its frustrating to lose a character while your friends still have them.
