How do you check the gear from inside vehicle?
xxblink replied to Mark88's topic in New Player Discussion
You can also access the gear inside every vehicle by jumping first in the drivers seat and then into the backseat. Then it shows up in the scroll menu. I find that easier than doing the map thing. -
Lost Need help Right corner of map,NO MAP!
xxblink replied to joethespy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ok, you didn't run in the same direction if it's been two hours....You've got to run in the SAME DIRECTION. You'll make it to either the edge of the map, the coast, or a road/town. Don't navigate by the moon. And by the shadows, I meant most of the time they point generally north. Everytime I have a clan member lost and we check the shadows for him, they're either pointing north east or north west. So check the clouds, the shadows, and run the same way. See, watching your vids, you're just running. In the dark. No sense of direction. No sense of anything. Just running. No wonder you're lost. And yes, logging back in will tell you just wilderness unless you're near a town. -
Nope.
-
If you were doing the registry thing, you didn't have the same character on both accounts. You may have set it up wrong. I had a clan member who had it set up wrong, and it would keep him on one account, and kill him when he logged in to his other account through arma. Make sure you set up your registry switch right and then you'll be able to switch back and forth correctly. Two separate accounts.

Lost Need help Right corner of map,NO MAP!
xxblink replied to joethespy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're going in circles if you go 4 hours without running into anything. Choose one direction by the clouds of the shadows and walk. You must be well geared if you made it 4 hours without dying. It takes 3 minutes to run a thousand meters. So you've run around the map several times by now with 4 hours.... -

No. if no one can help you, shadows always go north. So put the shadows of the trees so they point to your left, and start walking. You'll run into a road. -

Helicopter not spawning on freshly wiped server

And we have this in our .rpt: 1:40:28 "HIVE: UPDATING OBJ: [1c5a7040# : uh1h.p3d,"damage"] / UID: "26660708296139"" 1:40:28 "HIVE: UPDATING OBJ: [1c5a7040# 1055363: uh1h.p3d,"damage"] / UID: "26660708296139"" 1:40:28 "HIVE: UPDATING OBJ: [1c5a7040# 1055363: uh1h.p3d,"damage"] / UID: "26660708296139"" 1:40:28 "HIVE: UPDATING OBJ: [1c5a7040# 1055363: uh1h.p3d,"damage"] / UID: "26660708296139"" 1:40:28 "HIVE: UPDATING OBJ: [1c5a7040# 1055363: uh1h.p3d,"damage"] / UID: "26660708296139"" 1:40:28 "HIVE: UPDATING OBJ: [1c5a7040# 1055363: uh1h.p3d,"damage"] / UID: "26660708296139"" 1:40:28 "HIVE: UPDATING OBJ: [1c5a7040# 1055363: uh1h.p3d,"damage"] / UID: "26660708296139"" 1:40:28 "HIVE: UPDATING OBJ: [1c5a7040# 1055363: uh1h.p3d,"damage"] / UID: "26660708296139"" 1:40:28 "HIVE: UPDATING OBJ: [1c5a7040# 1055363: uh1h.p3d,"damage"] / UID: "26660708296139"" I download and keep a copy of my old .rpts, and it wasn't on there for the first few. But now it is. It doesn't say scrubbed, but is this the same thing? -
Helicopter not spawning on freshly wiped server
xxblink replied to dANIELZN's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Can someone else confirm this? We've been waiting for 2 weeks after we know it crashed, still no spawn, and we check the spawns nightly. -
On public hive, hosted servers, you can see things like saving a tent, throwing grenades, anything you put in the system to track, you can see. And it gives coordinates, but it's not like the coordinates on the GPS. It's like this: 07.10.2012 14:14:07: NAME GUID STUFF - #0 "GrenadeHandTimedWest" 7:376 7:11 [7016,7687,295] [0,18,2] They can't track your every move just off the logs and such, though there has been an rcon made with a map system to be able to do just that, with the intent of watching teleporters. Privately owned public servers, or public hive servers that have full access to everything, can install programs that could track you, but I personally don't know any. There's been quite a bit of debate about how much SHOULD admins have power to do, and it always comes back to having to trust your admins. You're always going to find bad people who use hosting the server to their own advantage, but there's a lot of server owners who are owners because they are sick and tired of hackers and try to have all the tools that they can to monitor their server. So long story short, most public hives cannot track your every move. And find a server where you can trust the admins.

HOWTO: Use publicvariableval.txt to auto-kick players with hacked weapons
xxblink replied to venthos's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Can someone explaing the publicvariableval-local to me? Also, I took out the car horn and the bike horn after two of my clan were kicked while in vehicles. I double checked their inventory in the logs and they weren't carrying anything out of bounds. -
comunicating with players
xxblink replied to paul@pixelpaul.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, typing works the same way as voice in game. They can see it when they are close to you. -
No, you want to ban them with a very long string of numbers and letters that shows up next to their name, known as a GUID. If you caught them in your logs, the number will be there. If they're still on the server, I highly suggest a RCON tool that lets you ban by right clicking on their name. Here's how it shows in logs: Name (IP address:port) GUID
-
In an act of retardation I banned the server owner.
xxblink replied to @Williamcullum1's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
If he owns the server, he can do it. Log into the control panel or ftp or whatever you guys use to access the exact files. Go to your files > cfgdayz > battleye. You'll have a file there called bans.txt. Open this up into edit mode. (If it's an ftp, open it in notepad.) If you haven't banned anyone since then, his will be the last number there. if you banned the guy that you were TRYING to ban after you banned your server owner, he will be the next one up. That long string of numbers is known as a GUID. You just delete the line where the ban is to remove it. Please note that you may have banned via IP address, and that's the number that looks like this: 192.168.1.1. You'll have to remove both bans. (IP bans are usually listed separately after the GUID bans.) Save your edits or save your notepad and reupload it to the ftp file. Restart your server, and you're good to go. If you're using DART (which is the only rcon tool I have familiarity with), you can right click on his GUID and IP address and unban him there. Again, if you banned him last, his will be the last GUID and IP listed there. If you're still not sure, one of you PM me, he can log into my server, and I can give you his GUID and IP. -
Found it in my arma2oaserver.RPT. It's been thrown in there four different times since my server started, just after someone joins. How do you do that? I have an HFB server, and all I can do is set up the restarts and it just does them. I can't do anything else to it....Would love to have more control over this. And we didn't know that, so thanks for letting us know. -

Server restart has occasionally done that to us, but they come back after another restart almost every time. We've lost a car completely at least once. For people following this, their unban has been fixed. Just took a server restart for it. -

I'm the admin, message me. We can work it out. EDIT: Here's why I banned you. Yes, I'm new to this whole server admin thing, but after doing research, other people had said they banned for this, so we did. 26.09.2012 21:51:39: pl0xy - #0 "Hedgehog_DZ" 10:49 [1310,13416,332] 26.09.2012 21:52:01: pl0xy - What about #44 "G_40mm_HE"? All the legit ones I've seen listed are #0. What does the #44 mean? I have someone that had #44 three times in a minute. That could be legit if he was just firing. But the #44 is throwing me off....

Our server restarted last night. We got out of the vehicle, made sure it was saved, and logged out before the server restart happened. Came back in, the car is gone. Poof. We've waited another restart, hoping it will come back, and it didn't. We had the same thing happen the other day. One of us logged in to our camp and our bike, car and tent were all gone. He logged back out. After a server restart, they came back. Is this happening to anyone else? Server is on 1.7.2.6.
