So far I've found at least 1 vehicle every day for the past week. Best days 4 vehicles, mostly in separate locations. Note: I've found 13 stationary vehicles, and seen over 20 vehicles. Within the past 3 weeks. I've NEVER found a vehicle that has spawned at a spawn location. All these vehicles have been player moved. You have to understand the mentality these people follow. The norther you are, the less people there are, the safer the vehicle will be. Go north. Look at the map. Roam. You'll find at least one every day. You wont find many south, even though that has happened as well.

Tents are too easy to spot. There should be more ways to hide your gear.

EDIT5: T'was a good day, got 8 vehicles gathered and even managed to defend em some on a couple occasions! 3 guys were trying to steal the bus I had, and as fortune would have it I was close by, so I headshotted 2. Third ran with a jeep. Then a chopper appears, apparently part of the same crew scouting the area. They spot my camp, being a tent city that it is and the vehicle storage area. Bad luck because they were spread out before, and only today I gathered them together, or most of them, for the screen shot. Well, 30 min later, I'm approaching the camp and I get ambushed from behind, chopper crew has blown up and or stolen everything and that's that. It was a good 3 weeks worth. But that's the spirit of the game and the crew royally overplayed me. So, at least I got 2 of you, and I'm happy for that. :shy: Now to raid some cherno! Good luck and happy travels! EDIT6: Here's the link to what happened to my vehciles :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDVo4zC5bdI

Quite simply nothing, and nothing should either! After the vehicle has left the site and driven god knows where you ppl figure it's safe to drive to, I'm most certainly going to hop in it and drive away wheels screeching yelling thanks for all the fish and at best killing a couple guys at it if I ever encounter the vehicle again. It might be the same, it might be different. Might be the same guys, might be someone else. How am I to know and why I should I care? After the car has been sold and moved away, our business is concluded and our responsibility with the vehicle is lifted. If ya can't keep it hidden well enough from anyone to find, that's your problem and I can only hope it's me who stumbled upon it and not someone else  -
There are plenty of items exactly to combat the night. Flares, chemlights and flashlights that are readily available for anyone. You even spawn with some flares to get you started. The night is not too dark if you use them. However, if you choose to make the night too dark for yourself, then the problem is something different than night being too dark.

Aight I'll provide all the proof you will need tomorrow. I'll take a screenie of the full set for ya. And no, we don't plan on fully refueling them, but we will inform how much fuel the vehicle in question has left and you'll need to bring your own fuel if needed / desired. I haven't completely figured out the best way to do the trade, but I recon it should be something like 2 and 2 person exchange. ---------- vehicle to be traded at location x. goods to be traded at location y. ---------- x is a generic location away from most random encounters of players and such disturbance, offers no sniping vantage, such as a hangar or a cliff side for instance etc... y is an enterable building, to neutralize sniper threat. ---------- x is decided by us. y is decided by buyers. ---------- Both parties meet a representative of the other group at locations a and b, both being close to their respective trade location. ---------- Both parties determine that the other player has no gear with him. No backpack, no sidearm, no main weapon. Grenades etc can be made null with loot stocking (giving a determinate amount of items to be picked up), so picking the items up the other party is then making sure his inventory is empty. When both parties at both exchange points have been checked and agree to continue to the trade, the goods holding representative then escorts the vehicle seller to the enterable house. the person giving the goods enters the building first and picks up the weapon. Loot stocking is then used again to ensure the goods holder does not hold any ammunition if the vehicle holder is unable to see the loot pile before the goods holder picks up the item in question (in cases of weapons exchange only obviously). When this has been established, the vehicle seller will then escort the buying party to the vehicle. The buyer checks the vehicle and the condition (out of fuel / shot tyre to negate immediate grab and run). He then proceeds to give the ok for the goods holder to give the item. Our party receives item and the buyer party is free to refuel / fix the tyre from a close refilling station with a jerrycan / tyre provided at the site. Possibly it could be even more enforced if there was a player with a weapon from both parties far away but constantly in eyesight with a close quarters weapon. So if something goes amiss (no tyre or fuel is provided to get the vehicle going, or something fishy happens with the goods) the guard is then given the ok to rush to the location and rustle some jimmies? This is somewhat complex, but this is an example of a trade that could be made. It's not perfect and free of loop holes, but then again it's impossible to perform a perfectly secure transaction. Ideas or comments? -

You guys might find this hard to believe with this time span (an hour from the last discovery) but I'm happy to announce we now have a fully operational UAZ ready for a transaction! :) Sorry, the 2 guys I had to snipe inside the vehicle. You weren't as safe as you thought :( Had you not stopped where you did, you would still be alive and with your vehicle. Thanks for the GPS though :) -

I could go 2 nvgs for one hog. These took alot of trouble to get fixed up n get safe. Group effort you see, so it wouldn't be realistic to hand out 2 hard earned fully fixed ATV's so one guy of the group can get NVGs. Also, we can discuss details of the transaction in private. I'm certain we can come to an arrangement that will suffice for both parties. We are strictly honorable with our intentions, but you don't have to take our word for it of course. We'll try to make sure it's fair for both sides. -
Safe lockers needed! (bank vaults)
Daddy'o replied to jani.ehro@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
In what way is that a problem? In that way it is a problem, as I explained under the statement, people get annoyed when they realize long term storage doesn't work reliably. People find camps, loot them, vandalize them, steal what they can. Your camp WILL be found. You WILL lose your items and vehicles. It's just a matter of time in all cases. Then these people resort to either demanding more security and making this a carebear land or if they have a seat of power, lock or reboot the server or some such n restore their shit back. Without long term storage, you would have no reason to keep still at one location, nor would you be able mass store hundreads of weapons n items that conveniently persist after your death. Surviving goes right outta the window, when you can just farm the shit out of a location for goods n gear and then just come back to it after you happen to die. Do YOU imagine this is what rocket had in mind for a mod called Test of DayZ that's supposed to be a test of survival? -

Safe lockers needed! (bank vaults)
Daddy'o replied to jani.ehro@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I can, and at the same time can't understand why people want to establish social structure and systems. This is survival, tents were never really intended to be used in a mass storage barracks area to hold hundreads of different items. A tent is and was supposed to be something you can lay down on your travels, store some of your stuff in while you go loot the town near by. Something you would pick up as you leave the area. It was never intended really for long term storage as I imagine. The problem now is people are pack rats. They store n store n store and want everything to be stashed away and massed in piles of tools, food, blood, weapons, ammo, vehicles. When they misuse these as long term storages, they get annoyed when they find their vehicles stolen and tents pillaged. Then people start thinking the problem is that they cant SAFELY store items anywhere, and demand safer ways to store items to even more abuse the intention of the game, which is to survive! Now the second problem there in is survival. It's not really that hard is it... The game needs to be made harder. Less food. Less drinks. Less ammo. Guns even rarer, farming removed, tougher temperature needs. More needs and survival complexity. I say delete long term storage altogether. Have tents stay 48 hours after they've been pitched. Then have the server automatically repack them or remove them altogether. Make people live from their bags. Make them take only what they need and prioritize, trade, seriously conserve food, water and ammo. This is way too much a kiddy land and people are having to make their own fun instead of having fun surviving. My 2 cents. -
If planet side 2 can (apparently) handle 2000 players, can Bohima code that well
Daddy'o replied to Sminky's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sure it is possible. What's hindering and capping player amounts in any game are 2 simple factors. First being the size of the play area, map, level, economy etc etc, the game is always built for a certain amount of users. The second is the optimization of the game code and the scalability of server infrastructure. For instance, EVE-Online is an MMORPG, that advertises itself running a single, persistent world where 40,000 people can meet at a single location if desired, and the world has been been built to be a viable environment for that. Sure you could have like 2000 people on one server, or rather a cluster-server, as long as the infrastructure has enough resources on both ends and viable connection speeds. However why this isn't happening is because a map like chernarus isn't built for that many players, neither are any of the servesr currently running an instance of arma2 with or without DayZ. Also, I know very little of the Arma2 engine and the code, but somehow I get the feeling ArmA isn't really optimized to support traffic of that kind, even if it could be ran with moderate comfort with ridiculous infrastructure. -
Has anyone been able to place a tent since 1.5.8?
Daddy'o posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I dont see anything in the patch notes that would affect tents at all, cept maybe in some crooked way the new interaction system from gear menu. I've been running across all over the map for hours, small openings, huge openings, level openings, less level openings, level openings the size of 50 football fields, yet I can't seem to be able to place a tent no matter what. It's strange because I could do it on the 4th try just 24 hours before. So my question is, can anyone confirm that tents can be placed at all after the recent patch through the new inventory system? Also does tall grass count as an object and can prevent placement of a tent? that'd explain why the most level and huge opening wont allow me to place mah cribz. In my personal opinion persistency is good, stashing loot is thusly good, having a camp is awesome, you got your shit together there, possibly a few mates with their tents as well, in the middle of nowhere, enjoying a good hard earned campfire (and some wood to spare hopefully)... good times. Currently you can pretty much only place a tent in the middle of Elektro or cherno, and even then the tent stops loading properly after the next server crash that happens about 12 times a day. Soo... persistency wise the current version only supports living off your backpack. And by no means this is this a whine, alpha is alpha, so this is just some input!...with questions ;) -
Date/Time: wednesday 23 of 5th around 10pm gmt+2 What happened: Friend logged in, but was invisible to me and another friend. We could aim at him and have the open backpack dialog. He was also obstructing us so we could not actually walk through him. He did a relog, reboot and double reinstall. Invisibility was persistent across all servers as far as we can tell. Where you were: Zernogorsk. What you were doing: Trying to pick up repackaged tent that would not pick up. *Current installed version: 1.5.8.2 *Server(s) you were on: UK8, and EU13 *Timeline of events before/after error: no invisibility before 1.5.8.2, untested after 1.5.8.3 as of yet
