There was no bashing in that statement, however being a 5 year EVE-vet I would fully condone a bashing statement about EVE-Online players. That game houses very vast quantities of the absolute worst scum of the entire gaming scene. People who do exploit, glitch, abuse and rape every single mechanic and loophole in the game to no end, only the desire to watch the game burn around them as their drive. And the worst part is, it's just those types who are moving here. He's speaking the undecorated truth really.

DayZ Maintenance ~ Should be functional again
Daddy'o replied to Vipeax's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Obviously it's a related problem. Your character doesn't load cuz the hive is down... -
I propose it's you who isn't playing the game the way it's meant to. It's a sandbox. Anything goes.

Er der nogle danskere der mangler nogle at spille med?

Funny thing is I understood it perfectly even though I've never read a word of danish. -
1. The white dots on the sides of your screen when zooming have a meaning. 2. tall grass hides you even if it doesn't render on other peoples computers from far away, as long as you aim down toward the ground and don't have a back pack on you (for perfect invisibility). 3. There are ALWAYS heli crash sites around novy and stary sobor. 4. you can use SD ammo in non SD weapons and while the sound for other players is unaffected, zombies can't hear anything. Perfectly silenced.

Just reporting back that I'm successfully running 2 characters simultaneously using the .reg files instructed in the link. However, you will have to add "REGEDIT4" in the beginning of each file on its own line and it's not stated in the instructions, for those of you who want to replicate. -
Well it's kinda simple really I think. What is there to do in DayZ? It's a zombie survival game. What does it take to survive? Food, water and warmth. Blood only if you fuck up and lose it. Warmth doesn't go down unless staying still in a rain during the night. Food is plenty, drinks are plenty and easily obtainable even solo. You can dispatch zombies with ease with a makarov, no point in getting better weapons really. Survival part of the survival game is easy. What else is there to do? Shoot players, cuz firefights always get the adrenaline pumping, even if it's one sided :)

Bullshit. There are no rules other than the game mechanics. Why would anyone care for some pseudo-ethics that griefers make up? If you wanna stop playing a videogame, you do so. Anyone who seriously has a problem with that should get a grip on reality. Go here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=8029 Thread title: Disconnecting to avoid death by Rocket Quote: "I don't know why, but people are assuming that I think this is part of the game. It's not. I posted in a thread that was talking about that, that META-GAMING is explicitly allowed. I.e. infiltrating teamspeak servers and groups etc... Disconnecting to avoid death IS an exploit." Disconnecting is a game mechanic and there is a rule against doing it in pvp situations. -

In order to have 2 characters on the same computer?

Thanks a bunch for that link, I'll try that out right now. In reply to the other guy: I would deffo shell out an extra 10-15 for a new char, since I'm already trying to re-buy the whole OA. Would be sweet if it was just a matter of clicking a button "add a new character" and paying for it. -
There was a thread of vehicles that were recently (few weeks to a month) added to the mod. The little bird was among them, with a couple other new choppers. However, all aircraft spawns SHOULD be disabled as of couple patches ago due to them having several issues with performance. Unless the dev team has manually allowed littlebird spawn on the server, it's hacked. I would assume hacked because you just can't be sure.

In response to OP: The spawns are dynamic. That means zombies only spawn near houses, where there is a player within about 100-250 meters from a building of any kind. That means, if you are the only person online in the server, then the debug monitor will only show the zombies YOU spawn. In your case, when you left the first town, the 19 zombies despawned and were subtracted from the total amount of zombies on the server. When you entered the next town, 22 were added to the total amount of zombies. The more buildings you see, the more zombies they will spawn. It's completely normal for a single building to spawn anything around 3-6 zombies. A small town could have about 10 houses, so that could potentially be as many as 60 zombies per a very small town. Of course all the buildings would have to be in that 100-250 meter range of you to cause a spawn. In reply to everyone else: Yes the zombie spawns have been somewhat fucked on certain servers as of 1.5.8 I think. The speed zombies spawn can cause infite spawning, meaning they will spawn as fast as you can kill them. Also, moving in groups sometimes can cause the buildings to trigger a 3-6 zombie spawn PER PERSON in range of the building. Meaning 3 people approaching a single building can potentially cause a spawn of 18 zombies. This part though, I think was fixed. The speed of the spawn however, might still be a bit screwy.

Awesome bandit story... feel kinda bad for it though.
Daddy'o replied to Puffy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just goes to show ya, even when when you decide to risk helping someone out and it seems to pay off short-term it's still most likely a mistake that will get you killed long term. Never trust no one. Never help anyone. Always shoot everyone you don't know. This is why the game is a slow pace death match and this is why everyone that plays is a bandit sooner or later. Being nice just doesn't pay off. That's why I'm a bandit myself ;) -
A viable way to limit server hopping exploit
Daddy'o replied to tickle_me_jesus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So, basically... I can have my character at EU1 stand at the northern barracks of NWA I can have my character at EU2 stand at the southern barracks of NWA I can have my character at EU3 stand at the military camp site in Stary Sobor I can have my character at EU4 stand at the north eastern airport military buildings I can have my character at EU5 stand in Berezino hospital / military tents and finally I can have my character in EU6 stand in Cherno / Elektro. Now imagine this: I run around in my Cherno char on EU6. I die. I lose everything. I hop on to any or all of these servers above and grind the military spawns in all of these locations until I have new set of military gear. Then I hop back in cherno and kill everyone with my super gear. I die again, I just repeat, and I dont have to travel anywhere at all to do it. 10,000 other players notice this as well and everyone does it. Success? -
Lock em. Invisible walls to follow the exact border lines of the map. Invisible walls aren't realistic, but neither are endless barren hills with nothing so much as even grass anywhere. Pros: People can't drive vehicles for 5 minutes out of the map and make huge super safe tent cities there. Vehicles become more common for all players since they aren't stored god knows how far out of bounds. Finding stashed goods becomes more common and at the same time more risky for everyone because tents aren't god knows how far out of bounds. You can actually find a camp with a chopper in it because the chopper isn't stashed 25km out of bounds. Cons: You can't super safely store your shit anymore. Boohoo, that's the way it was supposed to be. You'll actually have to risk your stuff, be it goods or vehicles and let other people have a chance to screw you over. There's really no real cons are there?

Please dont wait any longer with 1.7.1.5 AI fix so we can play agian.
Daddy'o replied to HoM3R's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's exactly what we did last night :) We managed to find each other in cherno, loot around, get some basic supplies, couple lee enfields... we ran around Cherno with 30 Zs at one time on both of us, and one time seperately a horde on him and one horde on me. We even got locked in one of the 2 story flat buildings with over 10 killed by each of us, running outta ammo, and at least 20 in the rooms and staircase, and yet we got out vaulting the staircase and managed to lose em in the city streets. Was so much fun :) -

Am I the only one who thinks the Zs as they are now are a huge improvement to how they were before? I was running around with a mate, started from the coast going toward north yesterday. We stopped by 4 different towns to loot, constantly running out of ammo and bandages... Surviving took some real effort! We had to check towns for supplies, and checking towns for supplies ate our supplies! So you actually had to consider whether it was actually worth it to check that lone enterable house with 10 Zs around it or not. By the time we got just south of berezino, and 4 towns later, we had 70 Z kills each, just by trying to get around and survive. Most fun we've had in weeks I tell you. So many bricks were shat, so many laughs had, and so many miraculous survival scenes later, we really felt lucky to be alive. Changing them back to EZ mode is just... well a loss :( -
IMPORTANT: Tents will be wiped in update 1.7.1.5
Daddy'o replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
This is to remove all the tents and tent cities and all that have been created through the duplication bug, note, that you cannot avoid even if you wanted to. It's been around for weeks now, if you pitch down a tent, you get several more tents. This isn't how it should be, so pretty much 95% of all tents put down today are duplicated tents. Patching the dupe glitch and cleaning the slate for a fresh start is only fair between all players, old and new. -
Shovel & small, medium and large satchel, to bury items
Daddy'o posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So I heard some ideas thrown around for being able to bury items for relative safe keeping. I personally think that's a great idea, but it has to be balanced properly. However, I do not for see any immediate negative impacts, other than more server load, storing and restoring all locations of buried loot. This is how I imagine it: Industrial area spawn: Shovel, chance of spawn 0,50%. Used to dig holes in forest areas. Civilian area spawn: Satchel, small, medium, large, 5, 10 and 20 slots respectively. Chance of spawn 1.5%/0.75%/0,20%. These two items are used to create a dirt mound in forest areas that uses similar mechanic as the fireplace. To create a dirt mound, player has to be in a forest, has to have a satchel of any type present in the inventory and a shovel. Clicking the shovel shows up "Create a stash" (come up a with a better name, please...). Clicking create a stash creates a dirt mound, not very large, but identifiable from close range, that blends in to the forest ground color. Dirt mound acts like the fireplace does, you can open gear menu on it, and the amount of items it can store is that of the size of the satchel. In other words, a dirt mound stash created with a large satchel would allow 20 items to be stored or 2 rifles. The satchel is then consumed upon creation of the stash. Stash persists longer after death than a tent, which is 48 hours, and I would imagine a week would be a good time. Only usable in forests because of texture complexity issues (only have to use one kind of texture this way), and doesn't compete with tents at same locations. Stash should only be able to store non-organic items such as ammo, tools, weapons. To access a stash, person needs to have a shovel present in his inventory. Can be used to open all stashes regardless of ownership. Thoughts?
