Dayz players evolving together with the game
xalienax replied to ld-airgrafix's topic in General Discussion
Always wlecome a good fight mate. Win or loose, a good shoot out with a competent player or squad gets the blood rushing like nothing else in dayZ does :) -
not hardly. I'd just rather be the guy burning the world then trying to save it in a video game. its more fun for me, and thats what matters in a game that i purchased for enjoyment.
-
I enjoy playing "evil" when given the chance. I think maily its from the fact that almost every AAA title trys to cast you as some gritty doo gooder out to save the world or something- same with the generic action movie hero. i just get a trip out of doing the opposite of the norm. self advancement at others expense, greed, hoarding, power tripping, etc. its different from what every rehashed plot line tries to feed me xD this applies to games in general not just dayZ. I always prefer playing the of-for "bad guy" faction in any game that gives me a chance. rather thats axis forces in WW2 games, eastern block in Arma II, or terroris factions in more modern shooters.

Dayz players evolving together with the game

theres plenty of people who will do that for me. all i need to is wait along one of the busier routes between towns and cap someone whos carrying a gun i need ammo for.... (PvP players dont need to loot.) -

QFT. Id much rather a good enjoyable play experience. i dont give one single flip about DX verison it uses or 64v32bit etc. The tech can be 10 yrs old as long as it does the job well and deliveres a smooth and enjoyable expereince. -
So yeah. i just installed on my new PC and i can onyl see 2 experimental servers with no one on them 190+ ping. I checked the beta tab in steam and i have definately NOT opted into experimental... not sure whats up? its there maitenance going on right now or something?
-
browser shows only 2 experimental servers?
xalienax replied to xalienax's topic in General Discussion
ah ty. out of my normal playing time so never noticed when they did it :) cheers -
i forget who it was but somone on interview on history channel said "You dont need a message or a meaning, just enough people pissed off about the same thing" (in referance to how crooked dictators rise to power)

Like a boss, right there!

Players are best observed thru an LRS attached to a loaded mosin.... On-topic: Cherno + Elek are truly dead on on SA now
-
they could have done more like what Misery mod for Stalker did, where fighting feels like a side effect of a defunct world. The world its self is out to get you! the anomalies, radiation, etc. (imagine if certain areas would get you killed with a gas mask or bio suit, both of which would be in short supply)
-
This patch is littertly game breaking.
xalienax replied to Naberius (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
As to how to deal with the current buggy build of SA in 4 steps: Step 1: Open steam Step 2: Right click dayZ > Delete Local Content Step 3: Launch DayZ commander and play mod till this is fixed- if it is ever fixed. step 4: enjoy playing dayZ that works. :) -

Sadly i think DayZ is sort of a victim of it's own success. Many people who played the mod for a long time heard there was going to be an SA. First thought 'Awesome and optimized and polished version of what we love'. Thats not the direction rocket has chosen tho. I really feel that this total re-invention of every single aspect of the game play, balancing, and mechanics is both overly ambitious, and even if they pull it off many who love the mods fo what it is will find almost no parallel in the SA and be bitter of having purchased it in the hopes of a "refined version of dayZ mod". The game has great potential. They could do a LOT with it. It however, is not the same animal that wen viral several years ago and that we all fell in love with. -
Have the devs addressed the gamma night vision issue?
xalienax replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
No- But even on a full-moon night clear as can be its rendered as if it were moonless and overcast. when it actually is moonless you could walk into a freaking waist high fence before seeing it. And yes i have been out camping IRL. its not as bad as DayZ SA looks. gamma has just become a necessary crutch to supplement poor lighting in the game. intended, no. but dont patch gamma first improve lighting & HDR FIRST. then and only then, can you remove the gamma exploit in some way. -

Bottom line is if you make it obnoxious to play in a certain environment people simply wont play in it. The current rendering of the night-time envrionment is just silly. i have been outside at night and im sorry, its not even remotely realistic. Im all for "low light" night time, but when it becomes difficult to negotiate where your walking without getting stuck on something collision box, Thats obnoxious. we can argue RL experiences, graphical differences, etc all day. from a game design standpoint you need to strike some balance (as much as it pains me to admit). if you make a situation God aweful, remove a player's alternative- And make the "intended" solution horrible as well- people will just go to another TZ server rather then deal with it. -
Dayz players evolving together with the game

Its not about living or dieing, its more the fact that the vast majority of people i had the (dis)pleasuer of meetin in-game just attempted to screw me over. Some sucessfully, some not. the result is that i consider anyone whose not a member of my normal crew an imediate threat to my life that must be removed either by avoiding or killing. -

I think thats what gets alot of old dayZ vets myself included a bit hot. It's called DayZ, but its not the DayZ that went viral and sucked us all in. It's a total re-invention of the wheel. I suppose one could look at it that same as the Battlefield releases from BC2 onwards. (EG BC2 was a fun game in and of it's self- taken purely for that it was great. but most of us BF1942 and BF2 vets hated it because it didnt fit into the same design and balance regimine as the earlier titles) I just hope that when its all done and private servers are done some modders will turn it back into what it was in the early days of the mod with some nicer lighting and optimizations. that would make my purchase worth while. -

Thats when they both get a mosin to the face. Mosin is god. Mosin will pass judgement on your actions. Mosin will decide who lives and who dies. xD -
I Was Thinking Of Some Interesting House Mechanics

OP: THANK YOU! Finally someone who can actually come up with original ideas to add to and diversify PvE/Looting/Etc without having to include a way to punish PvP. Right here guys. perfect example of a way to ADD to the game without punishing other play styles. All for it! -

Bottom line No NVGs plus locked gamma = hop servers if its night. period. will not negotiate on it 1 tiney bit. thats a no-play for me. this engines lighting is total crap. -
Dayz players evolving together with the game
xalienax replied to ld-airgrafix's topic in General Discussion
yes but as a hunter of Players, stalking someone who has only a crowbar and starting gear isnt worth it when i have a mosin with pristine LRS now is it? not even from that player but from the zed aggro and un wanted atention that would bring. However some military kitted bada** would be worth following till hese between cities and whak'n in hopes of mosin ammo :) -
i always found them annoying. removing was the best thing they ever did. even in the mod. frequently go stuck on thier wierd collision boxes and such- not to mention they ad a lot more world object to draw increaing load considerably for mid range PCs. At the time the mod came out i was playing on a dual core based rig with a 5770, and the removal of the wrecks/debris added a much welcom 10-15FPS in towns for me :)

quite the opposite. I like the challenge of having to work with what i come by. its something you wont get in some random deathmatch FPS. There will always be pvp in a game like this and there should be. There is a Huge segement of the player base that thrive on it. Its not just "shoot everything that moves till it goes click". even if guns are readily available, unless you go to airfield or something far away and fill your inventory with ammo odds are your working with what ever you found first and the few clips at best you have. When considering a victim i have to consider things like- Are they likely to have friends here? Other players nearby? Large city will probably get me a ton of glitchy super zombies that hit thru walls and what not if i fire a loud weapon. Is this target even worth stalking? if yes i may follow for a while at distance to try and get them between towns. if its some fresh spawn with a basic mele weapon its not worth putting myself at risk. Enjoying PvP does not make you a Cod player or deathmatcher. i still have to deal with all the same glitches, survival aspects, zombies, etc that everyone else does. I dont want those things to go away, I like the unique challenge of fighting in an environment where the guy in my sights is only one of any number of threats to my character's existance. -

the one down side is that the massive cluster-eff battles with tons of tanks and aircraft going all at one control point would bog down pretty much any mid range system. you really need a nice PC to enjoy the biggest fights, which is kinda it's main selling point. -

Everyone says PS2 is crap, i dont see whats so bad about it? unless smething got masively changed recently all that paying on micro-transactions did was give you a "short cut" to upgrades you can grind the old way anyways? i have plenty of hours logged and still enjoy it from time to time
