  1. 1. Sometimes yes.. likes being teleported into the air, or seing a guy suddenly materilize next to you and insta kill you (obviously not logging in). getting killed out of no where or suddent un explained deaths could be hacks or could be glitches. its really diffacult to say 1 way or the other at time. 2. not much other then avoid servers where it seems to be common. Hopefully once it goes final private hives will come out and server renters/owners can run thier own anti-cheat tools and spectate those they susptec of TPing/Exploiting etc. 3. It does, but BattleEye bans in waves. this means that it will seems for weeks like nothing was done then suddenly all at once the Global banlists is updated with most recent detections. horrendous system imho but its what we have (sadly).
  2. The mod was actually good tho (aside from the hackers). I played more vanilla dayZ mod then any other including the SA. i genuinely would have been happier with a polished and optimized version of the vanilla mod with better anti-cheat measures.

    It's much like the age old debate about the many many AK-varients being the same. Diferent calibers, different features (rails, compensators, modern ones tend to have compostite materials in the stock/foregrip) but one can argue that all are based on the same action/reciever design, even if the parts arent interchangeable. but considering the entire thread was a troll, its entirely moot either way i suppose :P

    Those alone are not enough. We as PC gamers simply must accept that the price of having unique comunities that spring up around servers comes with the risk for abuse. its really simple if you dont like the admins dont play there, dont donate to that server. abusive servers tend to dry up in most serious cases. Passing the buck to clans/communities to foot the bill for hosting and having almost no options/control of the environment is just stupid. Im sorry it's that simple. If your going to say that every server must have 24hrs day night, every server must have x player slots, you cant have reserved slots for donors, etc etc then you know what, stop renting server and let rocket pay for it. the purpose of paying for a server is to provide an enjoyable place for your comunity to play, not to foot the bill for the devs.

    Actually i have to beg to differ with you on that point about admins mate. I was the main admin for a clan that ran 2 official mod servers (before the days of private hive being the mainstream). the sheer number of script kiddies i could not ban because of the hosting rules was rediculous and destructive to the comunity. if someone is to pay 70+ dollars a freaking a freaking month they should be able to at a minimum 1. Set server options such as day/night cycle, auto restarts, etc. 2. Run and install 3rd party logging and anti-cheat apps (see gotcha, BEC, etc) 3. BAN from thier own server based on logs/detections produced by those apps. waiting for BattlEye to get around to a wave of bans is not sufficient when you have 60 players expereince being ruined by script kiddies and and guys hiding in a glitchs inside a wall or some ish.

    i see dayZ as a struggle between the groups on a server. hoarding a natural extension of that. vehicles raise the stakes thats all.

    It actually exists its called the SVU. It is literally a compact bullpup configuration of the SVD, frequently mounted with a spuressor for special forces use.

    Its the apocalypse of course groups "hog shit". that really is the end game of dayZ to group up with other survivors and further your own goals as a group. Some of these groups form of server regulars, some from pre-existing clans, and some are organized via the forums here. the issues you desrcibed are ones of abusive admins not of helis them selves.

    I just didn't have the same experience you did. the helis become the game. When you have it you use to it diminate all others, but sooner or laters those who remain band together (Ive actually seen 3 clans merge as a result of us controlling ALL 3 choppers on that server) finally they find one of your choppers and use it to finde the other 2. the cycle is reset and begins again. For us, it created a whole new dynamic to the game. it shifted from a handful of mixed ragtags to 3 major clans who were locked in a never-ending blood feud for vehicle supremacy. it went from bean wars in balota to road warrior in the skies of northern chernarus.

    a few things 1. in the "official" mod there were only 3 helicopters. all hueys for most of the early days of the mod. thats THREE to go around amoung 60+ players on a full server. the helis "on every street corner" was PvP-focused private hives ramping up vehicle spawns. 2. Groups should dominate the map. i dont know why people can't get this through thier skulls. GROUP PLAY = INTERACTION. ever day i read 3 threads where people complain that theres no reason to work together, then when thiers something that take a GROUP of players to maintain and operate they complain it makes groups OP/the only way to play. isnt that the point? group up or die? 3. What Happened to Survival SIMULATOR? Simulators shouldn't be balanced. they should be authentic. vehicles need as much realism and atention as all the eating and disease junk gets, and so do weapons for that matter.

    Indeed this is why im completely put off by modern FPS like CoD since 4, and battlefield after BC2. the idea of weapon "attachements" or "perks" deciding fighte more in the skills of the 2 people shooting. Give us full ballistics and moderatley realistic handling. things like grips and bipods should mitigate SWAY/recoil not change A SINGLE STAT on the actual gun in terms of spread or divergence of rounds. they make it EASIER for the PLAYER to handle the weapon. the gurrent system is much more akin to BF3/4 style attachments

    That innacuracy should be in the form of sway. This means the individual player's skill in anticipating the movement of his gun and compensating for muzzle climb while firing become the determining factor. Right now the attachments mechanicly modify weapon stats in a very arcadey and atrificial way.

    mmhmm. i do wish they would atleast give us SOME timeline/background about the outbreak for the sake of lore. it would also settle once and for all the otherwise moot debates about who would have had a more prevalent preseanse in the area (Nato factions Vs. Warsaw/eastern bloc).

    Unfortunately untill BIS/rocket/etc give us a definitive time line and atleast basic explination of how the current state of the world came to be, people will continue to make speculation threads and pull information/background from A2 since its' based in the same physical location.

    dayZ is constantly labeled zombie survival simulation. if its a simulator i want the guns to be portrayed ever bit as accurate to life as possible. "balance" if for arcade shooters. if your going to use simulation to justify overly complicated nutrition and medical aspect then they *bleep* well better be just as spot on with the weapons. if they dont it's sheer prrof positive that they intent to steer and minipulate gameplay with thier crappy attachment system. and no "alpha" does not make that okay. neither will beta or release day.

    Exactly this a million times over. Making it so that it uses actual ballistics and "physical" bullets instead of a "gamey" dispersion cone is the only acceptable option. I do sincerely feel that we only have the stupid shooting mechanics that we do currently so that they could justify thier crappy attachment sysetm and make them "worth" finding. I almost wish they just threw the attachments out the window and port the A2 guns as they currently exist in A2

    then you should have to physiclly move the body or carry away all gear you want to deny them not have a magic "delete his gear" button which is what a hide body option and/or timer is.

    +1 to you mate. altho we may have very different goals in the game, and prefer to walk a different path i always appreciate intelligent examples and conversations instead of someone just parroting back 'Alpha!' or 'Because survival simulator lul'. I think all we can really hope for in official branch is that the developers find a good BALANCE that results in a challenge for both survival and PvP focused players without becoming un-necsssicarily punishing or anoying to start-over. Im all about adding things that create a challenge, however if for example (like the 2042mod) bare basics are so rare that spawning in a picked over area is a death sentance, that will drive away a LOT of players wich results is less emergent interaction and game play for ALL playstyles, and thats bad imho.
