    The helis created and fuelled a war. all involved benefitted from them being there. without the helis the time spent re-gearing and getting back would have made it impossible to carry out the weeks of base wars.

    agreed. AI traders and worse.. SAFE ZONES AROUND THEM are just stupid. shame is these mods actually brought some nice things. Epoch's base building was aweomse. wish it was in vanilla.

    If it werent for the AI trader and you actually had to scavenge everything Epoch would be 10x better then the SA or any of the other mods. the base building stuff was great.

    lol. it never ceases to make me laugh. anything that pushes us closer to the mod with even remotely realisticly behaving weapons or having the nice loot like we did in the mod the hardcore survival purists go nutz. mean while when they get several round of medical stuff, tons of clothing options, and hunting (soon to be) we PvPers just go "meh? can we just have our old gear plz?"

    TBH now that theres options neither side has a freaking leg to stand on. thats like saying the people who played on 9999999 vehicle servers killed dayZ. no they didnt. they played a mod/server that appealed to them. some people have it in thier narrowminded little brains that anyone and everyone should be forced into one setup, and any play styles the dont like snuffed out by skewed game mechanics.

    the KA-50 would be right at home seeing as there was a russian presence acording to A2. :) From a practical standpoint the hind would make more sence tho as it can also carry guys in its rear compartment.

    +1 mate. I dont envy admins at all. I've been lead admin for several large clans over the years and no matter WHAT its always your fault. you cant win. Someone dies to a glitch, its your fault! restore my gear! okay, maybe something really messed up happened so you go thru the database find his dead char and coppy the gear over. imediately your accused of abusive admin. someone accuses you of doing something, so you give them all the proof and documentation on the admin tools your using. instead of reading it, they go rage on the forums or reddit. after accusing you yet again. There are certainly abusive admins out there. There are certainly bad clans that rely on server ownership for unfair advantage. they are a minority- and by they way all you tinfoil hat guys are the reason so many games are going to a locked down hosting policy in which admins hands are tied. so dont wate my time with your "proof" when a hacker kills you. dont cry when all your favorite servers and comunities die and thiers nothing but a handfull of servers run by the devs left.
  10. a very good point indeed. so often i see replies to vehicle threads that all fault execution. theres nothing overpowered about helis them selves. fragile, noisey, easy to spot and track. the only real thing that made them broken (not overpowered, just broken) was the way arma renders ground clutter when flying.. or should i say, DOESNT render it.

    we should have this system; the official manual has PAGES dedicated to start up proceedure (which this guys doesnt seem to do in order but it works just the same)

    Your thinking of Private hives many have vehciles that spawn at full health or admin tools that allows clan admins to see where everything is. Don't make judgements about features based on the fact that some servers were abused by bad admins. By that logic lets take out eating, drinking, all weapons because an admin can just change a number in a table to make you dead when you log back in...
  13. Thats how i feel about it. anything thats going to be that level of time and effort to put together deserves some pretty big advantages imho

The only real "severe" issue with choppers was the ability to see things you shouldnt due to the un-rendered foliage when flying. all the other stuff was pretty much a universal issue to all vehicles but again, not game breaking at all. As the only vehicle that could shoot back however; its ammo count should persist rather then being a full clip after restart. it actually makes it worth loot farming for chopper ammo. it's called hardcore. all the other issues tho are valid- especially with regards to the "god view" due to stuff not rendering.

    so sorry that i want more then a tent in the woods to work for- or think that hundreds of man hours put in by a group of people to fix or build something should have a steep advantage for your trouble. I'd be willing to bet you didnt even read the entire OP or any of the suggestions about how to implement them that would pretty much solve most of the issues except for the vehicle it's self being very hard to kill.

    Funny thing is; almost everyone from the SA that ive introduced to the mod have preferrred the mod's gameplay. infact, i think the only ones who have a problem with the mod's vehicles are the bear-grylls like solo survivalists. the helis have turned the north of this particular server into a warzone in which the 3 clans there are compeeting for vehicle supremacy. This is interesting gameplay, all involved are enjoying it. the thrill if stealing from and trashing your rivals' base and the rage of having it done to you. dayZ is in Apocalypse that happens to have zombies. everyone seems stuck on this dillusion that people just gater together all friendly like in dark times. Please, go look at any country/state where there has been a total collapse. people do work together- but they also divide into sects based upon varying principles or backgrounds. Clans/Squads are the Online gaming equivalent of this. All i can say is the northern vehicle wars are keeping the major clans occupied with eachother and not (for the most part) shooting fresh spawns.

    if this were being discussed while the mod was the only thing out, and content had not already be extensively developed for the RV engine, id say perhaps yes. As it stands now, i think that scratching dayZ to nothing and re-starting from scratch more or less would be a suicidal move buisness wise and comunity wise. I know many people i used to lay with became disenchanted and never came back after the alpha got delayed several times and went back to mod or other games and have no intention of ever playing the SA at this point. Many who bought it after several delays expected more after the long wait since its original projected release. tbh if they did this i would just delete the SA and start on my own mod for A3.

    not ashamed at all. No loot respawn, not enough diverstiy in places the idem you need/want will spawn I can and will go to a place that spawns my item and jump thru 10-50 low or no player servers to get it. k? i will continue to do this. k? the only thing thats "Lame" is ghosting. where in you get fired on, go hide and combat log, and use another server to move behind your attacker while a buddy keeps him pinned down/engaged.
  20. Couldnt agree more with this. As it is right now, bits of info combed from twitter, redit, and devblogs. its really annoying. thier should be one and only one uniform definitive source of official information and that should be a PAGE on the game's official webiste (dayzgame.com). All updates, roadmaps, and change logs should be there in an easy to search and find fashion. if they want to also have this info re-posted to social media for more publicity that's all fine but there should be someone archiving and keeping it neat and tidey in one easy to read and digest location so everyone can go to one place to find the official word on this or that.

    its the flexibility and capability to be anywhere in short order that makes them important. its the ability to carry a full kit of gear, pick your mate up where he or she spawned and have them ready to go soon as they hop in, and within a few minutes later be rolling up to wreck the person wo done 'em wrong with your car full of gunmen. It also means you can hit loot points faster, farm better gear faster, and if detected get far away faster before a bigger group shows up. the person whose on foot has to deal with excessive food and drink needs of jogging everywhere with onyl what they can carry, having a vehicle changes the rules. you can be thirsty and risk crossing the map.

    Go mod and enjoy something that works right now. have a blast, maybe find a crew to run with that suits your playstyle and wait for SA to be more fleshed out.

    I suppose it could be okay provided 2 things; 1. any mini game must be a matter of manpipulating the tools or something that does not have a big foot print on your screen. No clunky pop up window or screen obscuring ui. 2. There needs to be an "instant out" allowing you to drop the tool imediately with one button press if being attacked or approached (but this results in the tool being left behind if you have to flee. it doesnt majicly go back into your inventory)
  24. i honestly dont care if its posted on a website, the forums or what. welcome to online gaming. the fact that the player must still estimate range and wind with some degree of accuracy and adjust the scope in real time is of sufficient realism and would be no different then a range table found in a barracks. either way achieves the same ends of making powerful snipers still require some work to use, and some expereicne to do this esitmation quickly enough to be effective.

    doesnt help if the PLAYER runs that way because there is nothing in LOS to run to and get some degree of orientation.
