  1. They do, but first they need to increase the "pick up range" on things- even if just a little. then make you scrollwheel > gear like in the mod and use your gear screen to do it; right now some loot spawns in such a way that actualy getting the option alone is really fidigity, and thats not good at all.

"We don't want your sniper rifle!"

nothing is 100% "cheat proof" other then making it single-player lol. actually no you can still cheat your self by modding your own game.... Making combat in a game like this dependant on luck is NOT an acceptable way to beat botters/hackers/cheats. first, they need to implement better detection measuers for modified files and hooks, etc. second, you can never beat ever single hacker out there- what you can do is keep up to date with evolving comercially avilable cheats and widespread hacks/cheats and update the detection systems acordingly. that gets rid of the VAST MAJORITY, who simply hit google, find something to buy/download and use it.

can i log in one toon and then another

single instance on a single PC should be fairly easy to do unless the person in question is like some really dedicated hacker running the second in a virtual machine or some madness like that. i dont think you could ever do anything with multiple PCs tho- because like i explained if you have people in the same house playing together, thats not cool. especially when they both paid for thier PC and copies.
  4. I constantly tell people in my clan to not bother if they havent already. We came from the Mod, and thats the gameplay we expect. The current shooting mechanics are a 100% deal break for me. period. these arcade like random dispersion cones modified by attachments. i will literally not update or play again untill purely skill-based shooting comes back. i will continue to urger eveyone i know to not give BIS a cent untill it does. there is nothing they can give me to make up for that. no amount of content, clothing, bas building i dont care. as long as dumb luck is a considerable factor in where your bullet go at less then 300m im DONE.
  5. i got you both beat. I logged in at our clan's base one time and apparently a clan member was in the heli, on the exact spot i logged out. i heard the bone break sound and had Your are dead screen soon as i loaded in. 0 seconds of character control. ZERO.

I can see both sides of the coin tho... many MMOs (Eve online for example) openly allow multi-boxing. heck they even allow ISboxer which lets me run like 12 synched clients, making 1 person have the same capabilitys as a whole fleet, and in some regards where focused fire is required your even more effective because all 12 of those clients fire at exactly the same moment in time, at the right target every time, with no human reaction time delays or time spent comunicating target order to fleet members. Personally its a hard issue for me to take either side. you own 2 computers capable of running it and 2 game copies. whats to say you shouldnt be allowed to use both? you paid for both. also this opens up the isse of how to determine if its the same person when multiple PCs are involved. EG. my wife also plays dayZ and somethimes we play together- should this also be disallowed because a hand ful of cases it may be the same individual using both PCs?

    Realistic player identification

you know, now that you bring that up- i never really understood the need for the Hive tbh. Infact, all i've seen it do since the mod is be abused. > Server-Hop farming exists because of it. > Server-Hopping to Ghost behind someone exists because of it. > A ganeral lack of comunity due to ther being nothing tieing you to the server. it really doesnt give you anything good for all the opportunities to exploit. you carry your gear over.. so what? you arent directly interacting with the players on other servers. the vast majority of people pick 1 or two servers they like and just play those anyways. also how many people have now come here because their gear/character got deleted/dead because of server problems? individual persistent servers are the way to go imho. go ahead and hop servers and start over from scratch. and if you die to some glitch or bug; well atleast you got your character on that other server right?

Complete change of the weapons Accesory system

This combined with Sway based on exhertion and pain from any injuries. SAY NO TO THE GARBAGE DISPERSION CONES!!

there was another comunity where this actually became IP bannable on thier Wasteland and dayZero servers because a few people who owned several PCs or copys of the game would basicly put one in a sniper position then log to lobby, switch to another to loot and if killed flip back to kill thier attacker while they were being looted. in order to have 2 characters tho, you need 2 seperate GUIDs in the mod however- and im pretty sure this is the same for the SA.

    Realistic player identification

I really like this. I am a full-time PvP player. i enjoy the thrill of an ambush, the higher risk/reward ratio of engaging players over loot farming when ever possible. this is pretty much what i want, because i think thats more realistic apart from what many people want to think. the post-apocalypse would be mouch more like clanwars/faction wars. people are going to band together around a common thread; rather thats mere survival, religion, background, or a quest for some sort of power (see: warloards). in a real apocalypse it wouldnt be a 24/7 frag fest in downtown bero- itd be this group has living in compoound A, another in compund B, maber in some smaller cities the enitre thing has been walled off! attacking these factional strong-holds would be very high risk-reward ratio. This would also lead to more ambushes and trying to hold up people transporting good to and from compounds.

    Realistic player identification

I think if they added an in-depth character creator at the beginning of your life similar to EVE online or Skyrim with thousands of potential variations the odds of any 2 players being "identical" would be slim. this combined with Fortifications, i could see clans, especially RP focused one walling off parts of town and forcing approacing survivors to "reval them selves" before being allowed in. could make for interesting gameplay. main issue i see is the amount of time (diverted from other items/priorities) that would need to be dedicate into creating new, highly detailed player models and the system to create them. Aditionally, while not diminishing more traditonal PvP at all, it would set the tone for a new life on a new character being forced to go thru creating your character each life. that few minutes spent there also pretty much rules out running back to your body and continuing to have a meat grinder style death match within a few blocks, almost like BF3 or CoD style. anyone spening more then a few mins in bero on a populated server knows what i mean about that.
  12. My main issue with it is the performance issues. Yes it's alpha, yes optimization is not a priority yet, but seriously!? freeze frames at times. really annoying when your FPS pegs to 0 for a second and then you get hit. when SA first went live i played on a much lower quality system (barely minimal specs) and got 10-20 FPS was the limit in a town, it was atleast somewhat consistent. now its like freeze frame stutters. IDK if its the zombie spawns being triggered or what? Server issues greately effecting frame rate and even causing these freeze frame "stutters" has always been somewhat of an issue with arma, but in the SA it seems to happen with little to no rhyme or reason.

Need some honest feedback - annoying voice?

someone having an "irritating" or "annoying" voice is really subjective. i would just ignore it :P
  14. My counter is that they should. My other counter is the return of mil loot from the A2 mod like FNFAL, MK48, M240B, etc. easy chopper killers. If a group of players is to put more time and effort into obtaining and maintaining one single item then everything else they do that should then be the best thing you can hope to have. you should be able to extract from roof tops, You SHOULD be able to rapidly cross the map. you should be able to spot for your friends. Chopper's dont need to go away. Badd weapon mechanics that will prevent you from being able to fight back do. this is an apocalypse. its not supposed to be "balanced" some things are supposed to be better then others. thats why you waste days or weeks seeking them out and more fixing and maintaingin choppers, and preventing other groups from having that abaility at every possible opportunity. and all the while all those who have been deinied this will be searching... and soone or later someone will find your heli. it may take much much longer if they dont already have one but you cant hide you heli forever. and so the power balance in the server will shift to new hands. It's all part of the epic meta-game between the groups seeking supremacy in this apocalyptic wasteland.

"We don't want your sniper rifle!"

this is easy enough to simulate in game with Sway, forcing you to provide inputs to counter-act it and keep gun trained on target. sway can be exaggerated by injury/pain and exhertion from running. "random" mechanics are not an acceptable way. you (the shooter) cant adapt. to sway the same way with practice and proper shooting positions you can better control your firearm in real-life. a considerable percentage of the outcome being detertmined by dumb luck in a game thats this time consuming and intensive is not acceptable AT ALL. so much so that i wont be playing SA untill it has arma 3-like weapon mechanics and throws the current system completely away.
  16. So, in the various threads relating to every possible vehicle suggestion one could think of from Tanks, to Choppers, to battle buses, to bicycles; there seems to be quite a wide variety of opinions on what impact vehicles would/should have, if any, to gameplay. Personally I've always like vehicles in my DayZ. the more the better. thier something to work for, something to horde as a squad, and something to destroy/deny to others. Its creates a much more group-oriented environment in the mod that's simply not in the SA currently, in no small part due to thier absence. *Please not i did not say they would reduce in any way KoS or PvP, simply that they premote group play. I think the bring a LOT of interesting aspects to the game. For PvP, They allow you to rapid relocate when one of your guys spot another group/clan/squad and engage in squad fights. an opportunity that would often be missed due to distance and time needed to meet up and re-locate othersiwse. For Heroes, they allow you to rapidly get to those in need of help, or wose come the worse, for you back up to come to you quickly. For the "firendly" survivor they give you unparalled flexibility and also can server as a mobile stock-pile for you and your mates. so my question to you all is HOW much should vehicles effect Gameplay, and why?

    The TANK Thread

THE TANK THREAD Okay, I know someone is reading the title and going 'Is this guy looney?' but please, please atleast have a read before making rude comments. Im convinced that i can cook up a way that we can have a few AWESOME vehicles that are worth an ENOURMOUS amount of work to acuire and maintain, and still not destroy the rest of the game. So, Why tanks? Why not an attack chopper or Mini-gun toating Blackhawk? Well Simply put i think that the TANK inherently due to its big, loud, slow nature mean that the ill prepared will have time to avoid it, and those cunning enough to ambush it in a strategic chokepoint could disable it with improvised explosives. Unlike a heli which will still allow you to have a "god view" of everything below, the tank will force you to still traverse hills, valleys, woods, and other vision obscuring terrain, albiet in a virtual rolling fortress. So, the candidates: Exhibit A: Militia Imporvised APC This beast is made by welding a box of heavy metal plating onto a large comercial duty truck. the excees weight high on the body and wheeled design make it poor off road compared to tracked options, but readily avilable parts are a plus. Exhibit B: T-55 Main Battle Tank A true monster, this relic of the cold war is still often found in poorer countries, tho it is being widely replace by T-72 and later varients. It uses a Simple water-cooled diesel engine, and doesnt feature any truly advanced tech. Repair by an experienced mechanic given time and enough manpower; Plausible. On the downside its rather slow, extremely loud, and has limited crew capacity for all the trouble put into repairing it. Exhibit 3: BMP-2 APC Another hold-over from the cold-war era that continues to see wide service, this versatile baby sees a wide array of gear fitted to it depending on what nation it's serving. The engine and transmission tho rugged are notoriously difficult to deal with in the field shoudl something go wrong. this would probably be the hardest of the 3 options for the average mechanic to fix up, but given you could find smeone with the knowedge, manpower, and time this tille honey would be a godsend in the apocalypse. it features tracked drive train, excelent on and off road performance (for a tank), and can accomidate a sizeable amount of people in the back. it lacks the fire power of the T55 -or ease of repair/construction of the Improvised option, but provides amazing protection, offense, and flexibility. Reparring/Improvising Armored vehicles > All would require Welding eqipment (which it's self would need in turn either a generator or fuel tanks for the torch) > Metal Plating could be "cut" from vehicle wrecks around the worls with the cutting torch. this would be a rather noisey, smokey process likely to draw atention of both players and infected. > All vehicles here (or some vairent of them) use diesel engines, as such "engine parts" will surfice for game play reasons. well just have to asume they were modified to fit? > Tank Ammo will come in SINGLE ROUNDS. extremely rare spawn, requing you to carr the large cartridge "IN hands" to the tank or storage. this means you cant defend your self AT ALL while carrying a round of ammo for it. looting and recovering the ammo pretty much mandates a group effort. rarity mandates that weeks of looting High-Value military spawns like NWAF may turn up 5-7 main gun rounds. > Wheeled options use standard truck wheels for simplicity of development > Tank Track segments found at Military bases moderately rare. Must be "team" carried by 2 people due to weight, or dragged. Driving/Operating Mechanics > Improvised APCs would have gun ports allowing pasengers to "shoot out" perhaps even drop grenades or improvised explosives out as you drive. > Proper tanks that were repaired will feature stabilised turrets and magnified optics for the gunner, however do to this being the apocalypse the electrinic targeting systems had to be bypassed meading you will have to range and lead your target manually. (for the sake of story mcgyver mechanic guy bypassed the electronic systems which were byon hope of repair to make the guns atleast functional) > Like in the ACE mod, you cannot swap between seats in the tank that would not be possible IRL. (EG. driver would have to get our, and walk up to the right side of the T55 and climb inot the turret to switch to gunner) this forces teamwork to operate them. > Improvised APCs with wheels are vulnerable to having wheels shot out, ones built on tracked construction or farm equipement (like bulldozers) are not, but much much slower. > Perhaps restrict crew and driver to internal view? this opens up the posibility for the clever lone wolf to ge close enough with an improvise explosive or incendary of some kind. I genuinely think that a combination of extreme raritly of ammo, Extreme amount of time and effort involved in reparing or preparing these, And the fact they they will be lubering beasts that draw tons of atention to you long before you can ever see any would be victims, make them fairly balanced in a gameplay sense. The eastern block/Col-War era hardware also would be right at home in a colapsed post-soviet nation. (where it makes sence that a few of these would have been in the native motorpool or reserves)

    Question on ping?

You internet is more the sufficent for playing provided you arent sharing with other family/housemates. Whats much more important then you max speed is your stability and conection quality. Excessive ping fluctuations and packet loss can both lead to desynch experienced in game. as to ping? ive never had a problem playing on anything 250ms or below, however know that if you do have ping fluctuations many servers have a ping limit and you may get kicked at a ver bad time automaticly due to ping. since a copy of your character stays behind for a few second (to prevent combat logging) this could result in you being dead when you re-connect.

Will the new AKM suck ?

I assure you that no AKM of mine will ever be "friendly".
  20. The thing is, they wont just benefit you. they will re ignite the northern wars and squad V squad fights for server supremacy in the SA as it was in the mod, and that was WAY more engaging the forest running simulator with the ocasional trip into a city for food and drink. :D

Dayz in five words or less

Arma removed, Fun destrroyed. (thier seeming obsession with setting it apart from arma which it was built upon)
  22. couldnt dissagree more. DayZ was good because it was built on arma, not inspite of it. they seem intent on pulling the two appart and tbh it has only made the game less and less enjoyable for me, and most of the Mod vets i know. I suppose this subject, much like that of mil loot will always be a can of worms. Mnay of us are only here because of our experiences with the mod and wouldnt have given the SA a single look other wise. I want chopper, Cars, urals, and all the other stuff from the mod. I want mil-loot including NVGs, ghille, proper snipers, M240 LMGs, etc I want arma's Shooting mechanics back. bar none. I want big squad fights at the NWAF again and in the northern woods. I miss the roaming death squads and the fights with them. to me these are as much a part of dayZ as infection, Getting hit by zombies, or bambie wars with mackerovs in cherno :)

How important should vehicles Be in the SA?

The AKM was more then capable. they just need to fix the crap shooting mechanics and itll be fine. and quite frankly if they dont i think we all need to re-evaluate rather the game is even worth the sapce on our drives when they break mechanics that worked in arma 2, to try to add value to thier cheesy attachments. a chopper should NEVER be balanced against one lone guy with an AR. choosing to engage rather then cower in a solid structure should be a ballsy move for the lone wolf with nothing more then an M4 or AKM.

How important should vehicles Be in the SA?

And for someone like me who wanted more of the gameplay from the mod thats a good thing. i never wanted a whole new animal, just a polished version of vanilla mod.
