yeah crappy M4's that spread like shotguns. im really going to hike across the map for that lol. Also this comes back to my argument for mor varied ammo types and less ubiquitous magazines. Ammo rarity can then be used as a balancing mechanism for higher effect weapons. your darn right i'll spend 5 hours of my gameplay hunting Belts for my M240 that can drill a choppa from the sky, or kill a squad of players in seconds. MILITARY GEAR AND WEAPONS ARE NOT BAD FOR DAYZ. they were ONLY an issue due to rampent duping exploits. in a war torn country all that gear didnt not just vaporize. maybe some carebears just want to hunt in the forest and thats fine, but high grade mill-loot should be in anyways. there is not one single game in this item i would travel out of ym way for right now. not. a. single. one. -
yeah they had to reinvent the wheel instead of keeping the mods working weapon system. lol.

not having the same old crap inland thats on the coast? in the mod chopper crash hunting or going to NWAF would eventually reward you with things like Night vision scoped FALs, DMR, M240 SAW, MK48 Mod0, etc. (the inlcusion of LMGs also helped with chopper balancing since a LMG guy or 2 could easily down a chopper in seconds with focused fire on rotor/tail rotor.) in the SA the limited selection of "high grade" loot thats significantly better then what can be found closer to spawn does not serve to encourage individuals nor clans to make long journeys and risk longer regroup times. -
at basicly point blank range? im sorry you dont even need a basic understanding of sight picture. its literally point end towards other guy and squeeze. the fact that dayZ allows such a massive deviation at those ranges is hideous. this has nothing to do with skill or sway or ballisitics, its a poorly- no HORRIBLY done game mechanic deicing rather you get "lucky" or not.

they didnt land hits from 10ft away, do the lunge attacks, or srpint full-speed in buildings (or run right thru them). tbh i liked the mod zombies. a bit more dangerous but also more predictable/evadable. the main threat was getting aggroed in a building with only one door and low/no ammo.

Mod was fine with spawns all up and down the coast prior to the spawn selection option. it spread people out a bit and made it hard for just a few asshats to camp you. they might get you on spawn once but then you spawn near bero, or kamenka, etc Moving spawns inland and into the woods will only serve to break the flow of dayZ wich is to drive one inland for better loot- ofcoruse we need all the mods epic gear back for it to be worthwhile to go there; (See: LMGs, Military snipers, Chopper crashes, and of course thos clan bases above NWAF stocked with high grade loots) -
Many people dont disperse currently because theres no need to. much of the wider movement in the MOD was driven by clans, bases, and the search fot that epic mil gear + helis. everything yhou would ever need can infact be found relatively close to spawn. there literally NO reason to spread out thru the map, especially for clan players who would prefer to make it easier to regroup when someone dies.

I agree with the dislike of camping newspawns and all, but the current shooting mechanics are horrendously unreliable. a mentally handicaped 5yr old could hit someone reliably at that range.

no im a proponent of "hands off" modertating. the only time i have EVER intervened as an admin is when it degenerated to balatant racism/ IRL threats/ etc. calling other clans or players out and flaming them to provoke them into walking into your trap when they rage (in some attempt to come 'shut yuou up') is part of the metagame as far as im concerned. side chat as it was in the A2 mod was FINE. if you dont want it in your server dont enable it. simples. if you want to enforce "good behavior" and "respect" then thats on you to enforce. fine. you pay the bills you make the rules.

well some of it is simply that those of us who played the mod wanted dayZ mod 2.0 we bought it day 1 basicly expecting it to "pick up where the mod left off" not wanthing a re-invention of the wheel. add more stuff and optimize what already exists. They have made some serious changes. mechanical decisions that suggest a desire to seperate it from the mod. (eg. exagerated weapon disperson and haing it altered by attachments) basicly more design torward gameplay balancing. I and many others who started playing dayZ after already playing arma liked the zero effs given about blanace weapon handling. you get caped insta death boo hoo cry more. fire firgths were deteremined by your precision with mouse and keyboard not luck or attahcments.

solution: dont moderate it. its realyl that simple. Baiting, trolling, and all. i dont know whats wrong with society that so many need thier delicate sensibilities sheltered and lack the ability to ignore somthing. i have NEVER been interrupted from an in-game activity because i couldnt pry my eye from reading side-chat. that said- it offeres abilty to socalize with the other players and if you dont like the comunity of that server either play somewhere else or completely ignore the sidechat. i dont see why this is a problem. if you want to feed the trolls suck it up when they offend you. i dont freaking care they called you this or that.

Basicly this. Im anti-censorship and strongly in favor of both media and sciences being 100% unrestricted. You (as an individual) have every right to be offended, disgusted, etc by given subject matter. you have every right to turn it off or ignore it's existance, but under no means shoul creation of anything be restricted because someone may find it offensive. period.

Where do we go if GSPs are not dealing with abuse?

Basicly this. No 100% automated anti-cheat will work. people can abuse exploits/glitches/etc that wont necessarily be detctable by an autmoated peice of code. NOTHING is more effective then active responsible adins with the correct tools to respond to situations in REAL TIME, not a month later when BE does a ban wave. That said, if rocket and BIS are intent on thier global hive structure rather then singular servers, they have to accept some degree of resonsibility for moderation of the game servers and abuse cases. There needs to be a dedicated team to handle abuse reports and investigate them. with that said, there needs to be a ticket-style reporting system and the burden of evidence should be on the accuser. (basicly dont bother unless you have video/screens/etc) -
none at all. its a game. neither the characters nor what you do to them/is done to you is real. "torture" in a game no matter how graphic or detailed is little more then legitimized trolling at most. that said; i view it in the literal sense- pixels on my screen that i can detach from at will. i don't think there is a line. and if there was a line i would make a point of crossing it atleast once just to prove my point that its purely a personal/cultural construction.

there does need to be some way of knowing who killed who (even if its hidden from the public) otherwise trying to do anything about it as an admin/server owner is a lost cause. a few thing that need mentioning tho; the soo called "wall hacks", shooting out from inside structures, under the floor, etc. are GLITCHES. there is very little anti-cheat software can do about this. this is dodgy collisin meshes on the building models which allow players to glitch thru them- some individuals have gon to great lengths to perfect techniques to reliably fall/roll into these glitches so they can exploit them. owners/admins do need local permaban lists for said exploiters. there does need to be some standard of proof (such as video) and this is where having kill feed matters to prove it was john and not joe who was in the glitch shooting people. obviously this does open up the realm of butthurt admins banning for no reason but that will ahve to be dealt with thru complaints to owners, GSPs, and perhaps ultimately filing complaints against the server to have it removed if no one does nothing about it. (sorry to tell you BIS, but you do need atleast a few people tasked with handling such complaints and black list these sorts of servers.) -

pretty much this. the inclusion, nor non-inclusion of this feature makes no difference so long as the health and nutrition system is deep and well diversified. im sure they could (as you pointed out) find less "taboo" ways of adressing it but what ever.

Actually, a little bit of a tangent before anyone goes there- Downloading "pornography" (blanket term aplied to any media depeciting sex acts), or viewing it isnt generally against any laws (atleast in the US). \ the 2 most notable exceptions are; -Child porn (media depicts under age persons in the sex acts) -coppyright infringement (professionaly produced materials are generally protected under copyright law and re-distributing them is thus punishable. this applies to pretty much any commerically/professionally produced media tho) On-topic i would really like a google-maps like app on the web to reference. would help when you find yorself at one of the new cities and arent 100% sure being able to rotate and view the area in 3d with your net map :) -
Its its supposed to be a slug it needs significant damage boost. shotguns are totally pointless to carry in thier current state.

yeah i definately agree that theres really no diversity at all in the SA, where the mod had more of a mix i think some of the little touches like hero/bandit skins and the rapid heart beat when looking at someone with really low humanity kinda added flavor, and just maybe gave people something to work for. i mean it wasnt much, and it was quite easy to boost humanity in a clan but it was still a nice little bit of recognition for those who put in the work to help (or harm) others.

It works however the person at the keyboard wants it to. period. it doesn't have to be "justifyable". you dont have to RP any semblance of morality. for me staying alive > all. if you are any possible threat what so ever and i have a perfect opproturnity to take you out with yout you having a fair chance i'll take that over a meeting on "fair terms". I dont want to make nicey with randoms and i have no intention of it. Id rather avoid risk where ever possible, but if were both moving on the same loot area and i have a chance to cap you in the back before you ever knew i was even there; good night scrubby! watch your suroundings better next time!

i think an extended combat timer similar to the one on in vanilla mod would work. Any bullets fired near you or you fire = 60s timer. every aditional combat action resets it to 60. ALT-F4 or anything other then proper log out with 5s dealy also results in incuring the 60s timer. by this means simply firing into the building would keep combat logger "in combat" indefinately, and thus his dummy character there free for the looting/killing. Edit: TL;DR i only want to force dealy on people actively enaged, PERIOD. all the servers with proximity, huge log off delays when not in combat, zombie proximity, etc were horrendously annoying in the mod.

^ indeed was not for AKM with zeroing. ranges were taken from A2's PSO w/ the SVD. also as you pointed out in your pervious post, the current was in which FOV adjustment is applied while scoped in it renders accurate use of the scope's chevrons or built in range finder a matter of guesswork at best. i really hope they lock FOV when ADS so as to make all graduations on optics function as intended.

Eve online reference actually, but i am interested in SC. just not sure how it will go. one of my greatest fears (and hopes) is how the economy will work in the final product. if they miss the mark i can see it becoming the ultimate "rich kids pay to win" -
they just have to make having explosives as rare as satchels were in vanilla. if they make ti truly hard to craft them or have the supplies for them it'd be okay, but everyone and thier brother shouldn't have one. I loved colapsing buildings on fools in the mod, but it also took a clan of 500 people weeks to come up with a handful of satchels. thats how rare they should be. Ofc duping needs to be sorted once and for all this time around when storage becomes a thing. vanilla mod was fine (even with legit AS50's) up untill the moment that everyone learned all teh ways to dupe. this things that were supposed to be more rare then a flying unicorn became common place.
