  1. That's both the blessing and the curse of dayZ mod right there. Each sub-mod and white list comunity and heck in some cases even old versions, represents it's own community and trys to give them what they want. fo someone who wants to 'just play already!' it can be mind-numbing to sort through. Sadly some of these Mods/communties have gone in a direction thats all about extracting 'donations' from it's playerbase. On the topic of 'retro' mods many of them try to come the bare bones simplicity of the official mod prior to the announcement of SA. there is a considerable amount of us who really wished dayZ mod would have stopped changing umpteen versions ago and just stayed as it was with only optimizations and bugfixes.

    I would really love that, but it would have to be done to absolute flawless execution and implementation to avoid being an absolute nightmare. Considering the amount of issues the engine and netcode already presents in terms of hitboxes, desynch, etc. i find it highly doubtful that it would work out well. i would under no circumstances want to be randomly breaking my leg for no good reason.

    1. I think it Does matter 2. I think the rate at which we get thirsty/hungry should be reduced, but virtually all the fresh food removed from houses/towns except for perhaps canned goods. some of that stuff can still be edible 5+ yrs later. I would really like to get to a point where im looking at my inventory cant decide if take canteen or magazine for my AR. may die of thrist if i leave this behind...

    This is always a hard point when desiging any game or a mod that deals with a persistent world. Eg. what would be a 'realistic' impact for the person who just comes on for a few hours ever couple days would be a majorly over-bearing for the person who logs 5+ hours daily. since we all have to exist outside of dayZ, if we were to make survival aspects like exhaustion, hunger, etc scale 1:1 with real-world values as you said it would be a total non-issue. I really would tho like to see them take more of a dayZ 2017 style approach where pre-packaged food is super rare. infact i'd like pretty much everythign to be much rarer. more of a 'several years after' scenario where all the 'good stuff' has long since been picked over. foraging in the wild and crafting improvised implements should be the defacto. id honestly like to get to a point where finding a single functional firearm and a hand full of bullets in 5-10 hours of gameplay is 'doing good'. i suppose the downside tho is someone who doesnt log a lot of hours regularly could find this quite dull. you see issues like this alot more in MMO design especially; how to find a balance between something being engaging for the 'average' players while not being obnoxious or too simple for the hardcore players who log major hours daily.

    Every step away from simulation is a step in the wrong direction imho. I don't want a fair/balanced dayZ. i want the most hardcore, most brutal, most realistic simulation possible. imho being fired at with a shotgun if your in the same room should be insta death. period. also 1pp only- and reduce the rate of thirst and hunger then make canned food/drinks rare a gold. i want to feel like leaving behind a canteen for an extra mag may end up being a FATAL decision. No playstyle should be balanced/nerfed/encouraged/or discouraged. ever. all possible factors should be made as accurate-to-life as possible without exception.

    I really want to see the impoved 'stealth' and AI. this whole back-peddeling in circles while punching nonsense is really tired and stupid. i hope zombie aggro will start to take very heavily into account your stance, movement speed, surface your on, and rather or not the zed has a clear line of sight on you. sneaking needs to be viable again.

    TBH if you get the drop on someone it really doesn't matter. Which gun is 'better' has a lot to do with you play style. if you typicly ambush at close range very high damage/ROF will serve you better then accuracy. Likewise, if you prefer to play defensively and want more stand-off being able to reliably get rounds on target at range will be more important to you. With that said AKM is love.. atleast for me. :)

    I share the OP's concerns, but ultimately i think it is just too early to write it off as being 'bad for the game'. we can't really make that judgement untill we see it's final iteration. i am concerned tho about it's ramifications if it ends up being done poorly or gets into release in an incomplete state.

    okay i'll play. here's some; I Never team with people i meet in-game. I don't trust them. Despite being a PvP-player I generally avoid costal spawn areas. new spawns rarely have anything worth the risk. I Have never (personally) kidnapped/tortured anyone- tho I did help heather do it a few times. Have never used the M4 in the SA.

    I am actually hopeful for even more customization for private communities. there is NO reason to not allow it seeing as characters/gear from private shards do not carry across to public.

    Pretty much this. I honestly wont host/rent a private server untill I, as the owner, can do as i damn well please with it. Im not going to pay for the 'priviledge' of hosting rocket's world. out of our entire gorup, we have opted to avoid private servers for the time being due to inability to garentee acess and since no communities can really create any unique alterations, theres nothing new/original to be had there.

    Interdesting. Heres an odd one for you; My wife plays on my old PC with has a CPU thats techincally below specs (mid range AMD Dual core)- and a rather mediocre EVGA GTX650 TI. In towns (and especially on high-pop servers) she gets around the same ~25ish FPS in big cities as my new monster build. I've also tried using a single GTX780ti instead of my SLI setup thinking perhaps it was SLI drivers causing the poor performance in this game. the result of that expirement was mor consistent over-all FPS, Lower Peak FPS (out in wilderness looking at the sky) The only real benefit i see from my new over-priced build is the load in times and i dont get the occasionaly 'freeze-frame' stutters that she does.

    Yes but it also runs like a dog on my dual GTX 780s and I7 4770k. that's just piss poor imho. dayZ isn't doing nothing (in terms of code/hardware) thats so unparalleled it justifys running like dogshit. games with expansive Open worlds, Complex AI, and much better visuals and still run better then dayZ does. (Watch_Dogs is a great example in that regard). I used to have alot of respect for Arma and BIS. true-blue PC-first publishers but they've gotten complacent and lazy with the success of dayZ imho. push the limits and build for the best PC hardware money can buy, then make it scaleable. and if that leaves out the possibility of consoles then stuff those console shits. no one loves them anyways.

    This is kinda what im getting at. I never argued that AMD chips are equal better, but rather that the game makes poor to little use of current gen high end hardware that by all reason should be banging dayZ out at over 60FPS at all times. infact this isn't the only game. im getting quite annoyed that developers not pushing the envelope. we need a new crysis xD something that takes full advanatge of the very best hardware money can buy right now and says "you know what- lets max that shit out".

    IMO if yourt using a gun for Looting/foraging around a city your doing it wrong. draws way to much atention. With that in mind, i normally carry a full auto for close encounters and a mosin for ranged work. zombies whould be mele'd or avoided.

    But isnt this a limitation of dated engines not using all physical cores? If so, it doesnt make the I5 better then I7 or AMD 6 core CPUs as a whole, it just means the I5's SINGLE CORE performance is better. we all use Multi-core CPUs tho. ever current era gaming rig is Multi-core CPU based. If that is the case we need to start demanding more of developers. i dont give a flaming f**k about consoles or anything else either. if current generation games arent making use of current generation PC hardware developers should be spammed continuously and relentlessly with complaints untill they pull thier fingers out of thier backside and get with the times. Looking at you BIS. 64 bit client, DX11, 4-8 core Usage, and day 1 support for SLI/CF. this is 2014 not 1995. get with the fricken program.

    Pretty much. I have I7 4770k and GTX780 TI (2x SLI). It's super annoying that this shiddy implementation cant make proper use of that hardware. Game devs need to get with the times and starting building thier engines around quad core CPUs and 64bit-based systems. so poor performance, not due to it breing to hard to run, but due to not making use of all available CPU cores. *Sad panda*

    I'd love to see them as well; But i think we really need to get proper weight/stamina system first not this silly exaggerated perma sprint that we have now to make up for lack of vehicles. An LMG is made to be fired from a fixed/deployed position and IMHO this should be accurately portrayed in the sense that when prone or resting on a bipod LMG/HMG should significantly outperform full-auto spray from an AR in terms of disperson and recoil. The down side, would in increased exertion of your character carrying the heavy thing, slower Aim/look speed with it- and id really love to see weapons actualy have proper collision on the models causing them to clip on walls/doors/etc. this would make run-n-gun style with them very unwieldly and impracticle indoors.

    Unless im missing something, that would only be beneficial for DyaZ SA and not really anything else- Not a big fan of building system around a single title's short falls. I would expect most, if not all newer releases and stuff going forward to be making use of Multi-core CPUs and i dont think 64bit being the standard is to far into the future either (expect ram usage to improve as a result). With that in mind wouldn't High end /latest-gen I7's and the 6/8 core CPUs for AMD uses be better in that regard? if anything we should be rather Irate with BIS for not adopting quadcore + 64 bit based systems as the stanmdard and bringing thier engines up to curent standards.
