    Have a log-out button. When you select it, it takes anywhere (random) from 5 to 30 seconds until you are logged out. This will require finding a safe place to log-out. If one simply aborts, then the player does NOT lose all their hard-earned gear, but they do lose where they are. Doing a fast Abort results in players spawning, with all their gear, in one of the coastal spawn points. This makes it virtually impossible for players to quickly disconnect and server hop.

    Formalize the disconnect process. If you want to return to the game where you left off, you give notice of intent to log-off, say 2 minutes in advance of disconnect. then at some point in those 2 minutes you are automatically disconnected. Anything else and when you reconnect later, you spawn in to one of the coastal starting locations. yeah, you may have all your gear, but you are nowhere near where you were earlier and can i no way impact anyone who was near you prior to your "sudden" disconnect.

    There's a potential problem with player infection. Have a buddy who got infected and died. In each subsequent re-incarnation, he has become infected. It's as though the infection is persistent. Seems too convenient to be a random happenstance. Furthermore, anti-biotics seem imposible to find, despite repeated efforts to search hospitals.
