    Sarcastic fix Leaderboards + bandit kills - murders ============ Problem is, theres not really anything to gain by letting players live, nor is there anything to lose by killing them. There is no simulation of regret or conscience in DayZ. Zombies are so easy to counter, there is no need for assistance either.

    cant see it coming out that soon. If its on the A3 engine, with any A3 content (map etc), it sure wont be released before A3 itself, which comes out summer next year, doesnt it?

    Arma 3 map is going to be amazing, if it was that id be happy. The current map fails to make use of one major thing. The sea. Boats are a waste of time. There is nothing out there. I would like another massive island only accessible by boat

  7. This part of the game, is a bit, meh. Its not the kind of gameplay we really want to see. People having to go miles north and hiding things off the map, because they know when they come back there stuff will be gone. While not all of this is when a players offline, a large chunk of it is. I tried to think of what being offline could mean in DayZ. My first thought was that it simulates sleep, but you would wake up if someone was in your tent.. It doesnt really simulate anything, its a time when you are completely inactive. My suggestion therefor, is that somewhere down the line, tents only become interactive when the player who owns them is online. However harsh the game is, you at least deserve the chance to be able to defend your stuff. As far as vehicles go, I dont think they should go the same way, just because if it did, everyone would start getting vehicles. But you should at least be able to lock the vehicles. Implement some sort of key system and a hotwiring system. Could also have a key replicating piece of equipment. Just something, stuff being targeted just because you cant spent 24/7 defending it, is not how this game should be
  8. Leveling does not suit a game like DayZ. Its a way to represent progress in a linear, descriptive way. DayZ does not need leveling. It needs to expand on what it already has. More statistics. Zombies Killed, Headshots, Murders. These are all statistics, and we need more. I like seeing my records. Priority should be with 'Total Time Survived' and this should only count when player is active ingame. You should be able to view your current and best character records, best based on the above ^. Then, for both these you should be able to view everything. Kills with specific weps, cows slaughtered, vehicles repaired, total meters travelled, helicopters found etc etc. And finally. A leaderboard for all.

    Apart from your item changes (making flashlight and axe new spots) this is what we need. Bigger interface with more segregation, especially for packs, really need to get rid of the number in corner system for them. Would be nice if on the interface you could drag items as well, to swap there position.

    A Better Alternative to Levelling

    Never played WoW. More of a Arma2/ BF2:PR, Football Manager kind of guy. It may not be a direct alternative, but it is somewhat. Levelling indicates learning in a poor way, especially the way we usually see it implemented. With stats you can set your own goals which would sometimes hinder yourself in a levelling based game.

    Is it not just possibly to remove the items that are not supposed to be in the game directly? Or possibly stop them from being on the corpse upon player death. Then they would not be able to transfer to other people.

    DayZ for Counsoles :]

    Next gen consoles wont be anywhere near PCs of this year. Arma3 is looming and consoles wont have the power to play games of that scale for a very very long time. You dont seem to have any understanding of what can cause performance to drop on lower quality hardware. Fair enough, my knowledge is almost completely from the source engine, but if anything, this has helped me understand that much more advanced games than source would need amazing amounts of optimization to may them playable. Btw BF3 maps are tiny. As for your argument about button mapping. Just no. You couldnt efficiently fit all the controls on. And lastly. This goes against everything BIS is about in regards to Arma, hopefully, they will never do it.

    How do you survive for more than a few hours?

    The servers I play on are usually 5-35 players online. I avoid completely full servers. This may help me. I am currently in Day 4, 414 Zombie Kills, 1 Murder. In this particular save, I started in Kamenka and just started making my way north going through all the towns and deer stands on the way to the NWAF. Got a decent kit, AK Kobra etc and started to go where ever. Use a m4a1 CCO SD / m107 atm

    I Have Some Questions

    Been playing for the last week or two (downloaded just before the big hype) and absolutely love it. No game gets me going as much as making a dart through sniper bullets to get to the supermarket. Having said that, there are obviously serious flaws. Keeping Up To Date With Devs Basically I was just wondering on the best way to keep up with devs, there projects for future versions, and there opinions on matters within DayZ. Do they tweet or blog somewhere like ol' Notch? HIVE? Sorry for being dumb. But when I hear this term, am I meant to assume that people are talking about a database that works over numerous servers? (The ability to take items across servers etc) Is There Public Knowledge on Vehicle and Crash Site Spawning Apart from knowing that crash sites spawn on fields and change on server restarts and loot does not respawn without a restart either, I know little about this. Is there any more info that would help me be more efficient in finding vehicles and crash sites. I know they are rare, but ive only found 1 car at a spawn point. How Confident Can We Be That Going Standalone will Reduce Hackers Luckily, I am yet to die from hackers, although I have been teleported and one of my mates found hundreds of parachuting cows in the air once. The problems seem to come from Arma rather than anything Rocket at co have not done properly. Even when its standalone, wont it run on the same engine? Thus still having many of the problems it already has. Is there an ETA for Standalone? Standard question :) And Lastly.. Are there any plans in place to make it easier to manage a server. At the moment this forum is riddled with reports of hackers having more power than server owners because of lack of admin functionality and support. I am part of a community (NV Clan) that originates from GE, a previous dominant CSS community and 'Pro' Team (Lan Goers). If there are plans in place, it is extremely likely we will go and get a 50 slot but dont see much point if we cant control the quality of the service we can provide?     I Have Some Questions

    Thanks, top help. Although not what I meant regarding vehicle spawning. I have been using dayzdb map and I know all the locations. But I was wondering more about the mechanics and circumstances under what vehicles can spawn. For example, is each vehicle capped to X per server. Is there a cool down time before a new one will spawn, do vehicles ever spawn in perfect condition etc?
