  1. So I dunno if this has been discussed in this way before but cba to look through the forums for it. But why do some people seem to have a real problem with having nice things in dayz? Maybe it's because I played vanilla arma 2 before Dayz, but I don't understand the issue with having some nice military gear scattered throughout a post soviet bloc state following a zombie apocalypse. I can think of many, many reasons that there'd be lots of military loot around. Maybe local militias existed before the zombie outbreak. Or there were leftovers from a recent military invasion. etc. etc. Either way, I can't see an enhancement to my gameplay from carrying around a winchester for all time. So discuss, or if its been said ignore this terrible rant.
  2. I've come back to Dayz after a several month hiatus (one thing that drew me off was Arma 2 Acemod/Insurgency, which people who just bought this for the one mod should try sometime) and had a very interesting night. For one, I'm finding more and more that sidechat is reenabled, which I feel really does a lot to dissuade shooting on sight and encourages survival coop, making it easier to connect even across map. Now for two, I hadn't experience much in the way of hacker griefing in my previous experience. I guess I was just lucky. The server I spent the night on (a public hive) was just chock full of them. An old buddy I played with before had gotten some vehicles and some gear together, so I felt good to go. We started out with an offroad pickup, ended up wrecking it a bit (I thought I was playing GTA for a second and went straight into a telephone pole because I thought it was made of aluminum foil), but were graciously rescued by a couple of nice folks in Littlebird. I'm fairly sure one of them was hacking; however he was helping people all over the server so we played nice with them. Now hero hacker is attacked, by another hacker, who rages when hero hacker doesn't die. I believe the phrasing he used in his defense was: "You survived the hack and then you teleported!" or something to that effect. Just... really convincing while trying to plead innocence,,,, I continued on with my pal and we found a military offroad at Green Mt. although badly damaged. While I kept destroying wheels on the pickup we never did end up with enough for the military offroad. As we drove on in our arduous search, dmr shots rang out; I skipped out of the truck, and my friend drove it off out of the way, intact (mostly). As I attempted to ascertain the shooter's position, I heard a biplane approaching.. right the f**k over me. The pilot had parachuted and the plane hit the shack I was using as cover. Obviously I was dead. While I re-geared to go north to my body, my friend had acquired his own littlebird (apparently two on the server). He picked me up and took me north, somehow managing in the mere seconds after dropping me off to crash almost directly into me, and to top it off it was genuinely accidental. He felt terrible and helped me regear, a short time later giving me a car ride in the repaired pickup back north to my two corpses. He gives me some of my loot and has to log off. I continue on, stashing my truck and grabbing a little bird, and resume regearing myself. Afterwards I ended giving some folks rides, one who had managed to get lost in the western debug plains. I help the same guy out a bit later, even end up finding him a bicycle to call his own, as a bunch of new people log into the server. My last task for this bambi is to drop him at NW airfield. I begin to fly south to some nice guy who wants to give me his car. I didn't exactly want the car, as I had two vehicles already, but I want to check it out. Before I even get within 2 klicks I'm fairly sure I'm being fired on. Yep. AS50 shots. And littlebirds dont gain altitude very well. Now I'm pretty sure I've encountered hackers before, but this was just too much. I flew dead north to the edge of the map from Green Mt to the debug zone, then all the way east, averaging about 130 kph, and took fire the whole way. I think he hit me once, and my MR went red, thought I was going down, then just kept going. So he must have teleported underneath me repeatedly, right? There were three clan members, who claimed to be friendly, but I dont think they (even if they had spread out beforehand) could have pulled this thing off. No one appeared when I landed, but again, I may have been in a debug zone. So I'm not sure how I got away. Hackers are TERRIBLE shots. But it is hard to miss with a Biplane, at least, right?

You lack of classic movie knowledge disturbs me. Or maybe you just have a natural disgust of Jeff Bridges.

Well I dunno if I'd go so far as terrible. You do have a gigantic ego and are deceptive and are short tempered apparently. What bravado? Well yea I was paranoid after you put the coords on the forums lol You got what you wanted eh? Was that when I brought you to the camp and said, "take whatever you'd like," or after? And you STILL have people coming through to take our raw meat and broken atvs. Carry on sir, carry on.

and btw, we're not hackers. We found this stuff by the metric ton. I guess moving it and securing it is carebearing then? That's a little harsh, I think. Sorry man. KSVK rounds though!

Their* FFS. We got english majors in this thread? And yea, you do lots of pvp right? Like killing fresh spawns in komaravo from the hill? And teaming up with some folks only to kill them too? I personally get kills sans deceiving noobz, when I do get them. Got someone at like 350m with my mk yesterday. But seriously, don't act like you're skilled when I already know how you pvp. Seriously. <Rant Over>

    Survivor Camp Coords

Well, all said and done, one hilariously downed chopper later, dirty is probably still angry that I didn't pick him up at the nw airfield. And all because of a simple miscommunication (I wasn't told he wanted a ride, and he raged right after I said I was coming back for him when I found out). I didn't even start trolling until he threatened to "blow our shit up" yo. For real.
  14. added you, if you're still hanging about. skype: killea05

    Need a team member, US

I'm down to team up, or bro down, or whatever. Skype is killea05.
  16. Rather used to running on my own. Honestly avoid players for the most part, most of the time (since pvp is so much based on luck, anyways). I'm pretty well geared and have been alive far too long for my own good. Age 19+ preferably, with mic, and a brain in your skull. I'm not really looking for a clan, just informal, mostly weekend game play. Steam is killea, but post on here first if interested.
  17. Do you mean that you have a ts server, or just the program?
  18. Wow, rather more replies than I thought. Teamed up with one chill dude last night, who was cool (aka did not backstab me even though I was well geared), and we in turn teamed up with 3 other guys who were apparently not very cool. I ended meeting up with the other 3 first, and they acted friendly up until i gave one some food and was subsequently shot. So I dunno. I certainly don't care about losing my stuff, since half the fun of this game is scavenging. I am curious as to the reasoning behind backstabbing people who are purely friendly AND offer to help you get better stuff AND aren't concerned about their death. My surprise at my death came only from the shock at how fast they went from friendly gabbing to shooting me. Anyways, I'm mostly around on the weekends for play time. Add me on skype (killea05) or steam (killea). Would love to continue to discover trustworthy teammates and weed out the bad apples :)
  19. im down. just message me on steam (killea) cause I can't find you.
  20. Sent you a message blue. I'll be online for the next few hours, and then off until the weekend. But i get pretty obsessive over the weekend...
  21. I might be interested. 25/ east coast as well; mostly play solo. Lost my poorly hidden vehicle so I'm ready to switch up servers now :) Steam: killea. Someone have a ts3 server?
  22. I can appreciate that you're at least not hardcore complaining about it, but you really should give it some more play time. I really do forget this is an alpha sometimes, tbh. The only bug I can recall really recurring for me is the artifacting/graphical glitch, so either I don't go near anywhere with dead soldier "props," or I man up and screw with my graphics settings as a temp fix. Hackers aren't so much the fault of the mod but the fault of BI itself and battleye being kinda crappy. Besides it makes the game more challenging :) Really what is key to enjoying dayz is not throwing a fit when you die (to whatever: bugged zombies, hackers, ladders, or good ol' regular pvp) and getting right back into it. Since I got to that point it has been infinitely fun.
