  1. I've been playing since the very beginning of the initial mod and the standalone has given me one of the worst cases of buyer remorse that I've had. Other projects out there are capitalising on what made DayZ great, and their offerings will be ready sooner than this ever will.

    No respawn button.

Do you realise Kamenka is probably the best place to spawn? Head directly north and you have several deer stands, followed by a supermarket town, followed by an easy route to the main airfield, and almost guaranteed you won't get killed on the way. Or are you just trying to hunt noobs?

    Pobeda Dam vehicle flip

Happened to me on Berezino docks too, flew high in the air then ATV wouldn't move without going vertical. Eventually flipped over and exploded!
  4. I randomly found an ATV in the forest and partied hard because I'd never found one before. Anyway I drove it to Berezino by the docks - you can find an old fuel tank on the northernmost pier. I drove down the pier and the ATV jumped in the air then flipped to the side as if I'd hit a ramp or something. Through turning the wheels and reversing it very slowly righted itself and my heart started beating again. I refuelled it, got on, then tried driving away. I had a few feet in front and behind where it would act normally, but past that it would start going vertically, as if I were driving up a sheer invisible wall. I tried everything to get out of this invisible box, eventually culminating in a straightforward rush to see if this wall could be 'jumped'. It could not. ATV blew up and is no more. Incidentally I managed to put it on its side once before, on the train tracks. Upon relogging it was correct again, but it had not saved the repairs I'd made to it - all bars were yellow once again. Fuel was saved however. Not sure if this was because it had been damaged when it tipped, or if vehicles are not saving properly? Anyway - I would highly recommend noone tries driving on the piers. Date/Time: 15/07/2012 What happened: ATV went full retard Where you were: Berezino northern pier What you were doing: Refuelling ATV Current installed version: 1.7.2.3 Server(s) you were on: Seattle 39 Your system specs: Godlike Timeline of events before/after error: See above
  5. Every time I pick something up I drop all my ammo. It's like I'm slightly retarded, holding each mag, shell and clip between my fingers and giggling like a complete nincompoop and when I see something shiny I drop all my fucking hardware so I can fit my fingers around a can of beans. Or is dropping ammo akin to a beta dropping spaghetti all over the place? Because I don't need any more psychological torment over my social ineptitude thank you sir.
  6. I'd like to suggest that melee weapons are simply one of the 'passive' slots at the bottom of your inventory (e.g. hatchet from before) and they serve to chop wood/break fortifications depending on type, and you press 'F' to switch to them as you would with a flare. To make up for how useful they are - they would be far less powerful, perhaps their only affect to 'stun' a zombie (i.e. it falls down but will revive again in several seconds), allowing you to make a hasty escape when needed but not allowing you to wipe out a whole town in no time at all.

    Disconnecting to avoid death

Or take it one step further - he not only freezes for 10 secs, but in direct chat he announces "Sleeping in 10, 9, 8 etc secs".
  8. Ahah this is great. "Zombies will now see you from miles away and run straight at your face. To counter this, we have implemented a nuclear-powered hatchet with which to launch zombies and farmyard animals into outer space."

    Cooked Meat health disapearing

Can confirm this bug too, replenished blood does not save, even after more than 30 mins on the server.
  10. In the second or third room of the barracks, around 5 or 6 military zeds are spawning, waiting to pounce when you enter. I have seen this on two recently reset servers, where all doors in the barracks were shut (suggesting no-one had entered yet). When approaching the room, the zeds attack the player or walk outside. I was attacked and died due to knock out (my blood was too low due to the blood replenishment bug). These zeds all being in the same room...I think we can work out how they transmitted their infection. Tested on version: 1.7.1.1 Beta: 93825 Seen at: NWAF Northern barracks
  11. This is a general issue, no particular reproduction methods. When hit by zombies, blood goes down as expected. I was taken down somewhere within the 8000-9000 region and went hunting. Ate cooked meat and brought myself to 11k+, stayed in the server for a reasonably long time, logged off and on again - the blood had reverted to the value before I had eaten. I tried this on several servers, including eating cooked meat on them, but each time I logged on again the blood had reset to the lower value. It seems when you replenish your blood (at least by eating) it is not saving. Tried on versions: 1.7.1 + 1.7.1.1 Beta: 93825 Only tried on servers that use these versions.

    THAT'S MY BUS!!

Turning off your whole computer to disconnect is marginally retarded, just saiyan
  13. Buy a GTX 680, then you will sometimes hit 60fps on max
  14. They should totally have people record a line screaming GO TO HELL that plays to everyone that has killed them at random intervals for about a week.
  15. Every single time I get myself up north and log out, I get teleported back to the coast on next login. It's really frustrating after doing an hour or so of legwork each time and coming up with survival plans then *plop* I'm in the ocean.

    DayZ Stories

I was alone and low on supplies. Chernogorsk was closest and time was short - I would have to attempt a raid. I had made my way through the supermarket and church and picked up a few necessities, when I heard a horn outside. To my surprise, a bus had pulled up and seen me, and a group of survivors was inside. Against my better instincts I joined them, my loneliness outweighing my fears. They pulled around towards the factories where the vehicle supplies were located. We were tasked to enter & clear, collect some equipment, then file out to the bus for a clean getaway. The best laid schemes of mice and men... On extraction, we had quickly gathered outside, within the perimeter of the factory. We were about to make a swift exit when our driver fell to the floor, bleeding from his head. Immediately the group broke in all directions, sprinting to cover. Kneeling by the side of the factory, I prayed that I was out of sight of our assailant as I saw the other group members' epitaphs appear in global chat. I was answered with a round to the forehead. Returning to the city, I avoided the factory and other danger zones. I had only a 1911 to my name, found in a barn along the tracks. My comrades fell a second time to the sniper: clean shots with no trace. They backed off - cutting their losses and heading for the hills. I would accept no such defeat. Scanning from afar, the skyline seemed void of activity, save the patrolling carrion crows scanning for prey. I edged closer, holding my breath and focussing intently on my surroundings. There. A speck of dust perched on the tallest factory roof. I snuck my way past the infected as best I could, hoping not to fire my weapon. I made it to our place of slaughter; the sniper now firing at survivors to the East. Coming across a fallen comrade, I took a rifle from his still-warm clutch and pressed on, a shiver running up my spine. As I turned the corner a shot whistled past and struck the wall beside me. I burst into a sprint, zig-zagging to the base of the sniper's nest. Military infected pursued me at speed, relentless in their onslaught. With death above I turned to the corpses and sent them once more to their graves. Abominations that they were, there was still honour in their frontal assault. The murderer in the clouds deserved no such respect. Fearing attention, I lay prone at the base of the tower, fearing to blink in case of movement. After an age of silence, a shot rung out from above. Another funeral in the East. The sniper was distracted. I began my ascent to the predator's eyrie; a ladder leading the way. At his platform I lay prone, rifle trained on the open doorway to his lair. A long steel barrel protruded, scrutinising the city below, searching for quarry. I froze, deafened by the sound of my booming heart. Had he seen me? The barrel disappeared and I breathed again. Why honour him with confrontation? I climbed the final ladder. My senses heightened and my body shook from the violent pounding beats of my heart. Seconds became minutes and minutes became hours. At the roof of the fractured world of man, humanity and reason fragmented and a single purpose drove me: revenge. I knew not the man, nor my comrades for whom I fought, nor the swathes of walking dead I had put down to reach this point. Perhaps in time I would stand here once more, clothed in camouflage, my rifle aimed at those who still believe. Am I so different from this man, his rifle delivering his agenda in concise, uncompromised form; his solitude a manifestation of his fears and weaknesses? My rifle delivered the answer to the back of his skull. One reign of fear replaced with another. To the crows above, we all look the same.
  17. I chose bugs because they sometimes prevent me from completing a plan i.e. I had intended to stay near the airfield for loot purposes, surviving off local towns. However, now and then the game spawns you out in the sea, or on the beach, meaning you're miles away from your base and may even lose some nice equipment in the ocean as you swim back to shore. Also bugs with tents and bags eating items of not saving properly have taken away from my lone-wolf wilderness survival method of play. It would be nice to have the base mechanics tightened up before new gameplay elements are added, as I tend not to log in too much now after wasting a lot of legwork. The concept itself is amazing though, and I think this discovery is really important.
  18. No nagging when you're out too late with your comrades, sounds like bliss!

    Tents & Vehicles General

Did a search but couldn't find a confirmed answer: 1. Can you have multiple tents at the same time? Would be nice to have a network of storage points. 2. When you die, can you go back to your tent and pack it, then place it again (so it won't disappear after 2 days), or are you only able to raid it and place a new tent?
