I'm more than willing to help out if asked, but mostly I just go about my business collecting things and killing Zeds. If I see someone in a building or town I'll ignore that they are even there unless they ask from something on chat. Worked out well so far, only been shot twice by bandits and once in a mutual death Survivor thing were we scared the crap out of each other and started firing. Put a can of beans and some other stuff in a backpack, now put the backpack on your back. Start the stopwatch and get the can of beans out by removing the pack, opening it, finding the beans, closing the pack and returning it to your back. Stop the watch. How long did it take you? That's what it is simulating.

If you're out of painkillers, then it might be better to just die than try and find them in the state he is in

Just a note, 3rd person needs a server that allows it. If you hit numpad enter and don't go 3rd, then you're on a server that locks it

LOL, I can see it now, you in your car, flying through the desert turning up dust with a stream of 400 Zeds following you. I wait in town for you to stop and either A: be consumbed by the horde you turned up or B: Put a bullet in your head now that you're done driving and looking for fuel On that note, can we have a Tina Turner looking Zombie? :) Obviously Mel Gibson has already turned into one when Alcohol is added

Using Track IR with three 40" screens. I'm getting used the the fisheye effect in the corners where the Zeds appear closer than they really are. Actually its nice as I get an artificial zoom on those extreme edges, so it helps in moving between the roaming Zeds on my sides

Any wide open Desert map equals guy on high ground / roof / tower with scoped rifle wins (until he runs out of ammo). He's then replaced by new guy with scoped rifle. Ends up being "capture the hill" game. Add in no cover from Zeds, so even creeping would show three half rings on meter. Might as well add in random CIA Drone attacks on Zombie camps :)

I don't know how you get around the current system where if you log off in this camp you will spawn back into the camp. Would be a mess for anyone trying to defend the camp (flag) as you would not only have to watch the outer walls, but also the inside. Easy way for someone to take "their" camp back is to log off in the tower or tent, then pop your ass when they log back in. Like others have said, its not supposed to be BF3 or some version of Stronghold

Found an AKM there but only two clips, so I moved it to the bush just in case I needed it on escape. Nothing good in the hangars, AK was in the tower. Also MP5 ammo, but left that. Military tents by Stary Sobor were the same poor selection, tons of chem lights and but a single AKM and 2 clips. Filled up my 1911 slots though. Off to Grishino for food and a place to set up airfield bandit ambush

Brown "log type" house with a covered entrance is lootable. Haven't found a town without one of those yet. Barns or cow barns on the edges of the towns. Some Churches are, a lot aren't. Some of the non-enterable buildings have had loot in their covered doorway, also the sheds out back have loot sometimes.

For those of you not wanting night play, but in the eastern two US timezones, just look through the server list. There's quite a few Virginia GMT+4 servers out there as well as the GMT-5 ones. Don't know what the issue is. Everytime I wanted a daylight server i could find a +4 one with decent (sub 100) pings.

I got so cold that I finally had to burn two of my favorite magic staffs!!! .....oh wait, that was in a bad WOW dream :)

I was in Cherno and Elektro yesterday and ran into several bandits (and one survivor) that were standing, with pitol aimed at the ground (45 degrees). I put two clips in the bandits and nothing happened. Went to raid their packs and they were empty already. The survivor was by the hospital and I stood behind him for 7 or 8 min and they never moved from that postion (didn't try shooting them). Some type of persistence after logging out? Alt-F4 folks? Anyone know?

I've been killed by bandits twice so far in a week of play. Killed a Survivor in a mutual "scare the heck out of you moment" Was running into one of those red houses and he was coming out. Both of us seemed startled and started firing and we both died. I've passed right by some bandits that didn't shoot me, which I thought was odd. Most of the time when I run into a fellow survivor, I go about my merry way collecting stuff, never bothering to point my weapon at them. So far they have mutually left me alone as well. I'll team with folks I know, but would rather lone wolf if I don't know, though more than willing to help out if needed. I get worried on large Russian population servers as I know some Russian, but don't have a Cyrilic keyboard, so I just respond in English hoping they can read it :) So far so good

Found matches in the house (apartments) in the larger cities. Same with knives. Have yet to find either in the smaller towns, but that may just be my luck. Wood in barns, houses, treestands, those red two room, 4 door houses, cow barns.....

First log in under 1.5.8 and I came across a barn that had barbed wire on both entrances. I could still get in but it sure slowed the hordes chasing me....lol Next log in and it was gone. Oh well

I just started playing this mod last week having been out of ARMA for awhile. Of 30+ starts I was killed by Zombies 28 times. Dropped once by a sniper near the med tents and then had the heck scared out of me rounding a corner into another survivor. We both opened fire and both died! So Saturday afternoon I get serious. Spawned in near Koma and decided to work my way up the west side of the map towards Zeleno, then circle to the top of the airfield since everyone seems to want to go there. I carefully pick my way through the first barn I find, Enfield or Winchester I think to myself, eventually settling on the Winchester and its abundant ammo. I skirt wide of the town entrance Zombies and slowly work my way inot any areas that look like they have loot. I still have my crappy starter pack on, so have to choose wisely what I carry. Out go the flares, its daytime and I won't need them where I am going. Soon my pack is full, my blood is 10000. I stop to rest and log off in the woods overlooking a town. When I log back in another survivor approaches me. He asks that I give him a transfusion. Before I could tell him my pack was full he tries to put a blood bag in it and it disappears. Thankfully he's not that mad and goes off to find another. I try to wait for him but the server dumps and I'm logged off. Back in again and I head off making my way through Zeleno. I divert to Mysh, what a mistake, a trail of Zombies chase me into the woods. I killed 40+ but nearly out of ammo, 1 clip left for the Makarov, none for the Winchester. Nerves done for the night and I log. Back at it Sunday and head back to Zeleno to replenish my Winchester ammo. I hear shots in the distance as I'm gathering more loot but see no one or hear no steps. Not taking chances I head out after getting a watch and Map on this trip. Not the greatest gear, but the farthest I have made it yet and I feel confident enough to continue my journey North. Another two hours and I'm just inside Vybor. I'm trying to be careful but I manage to Agro some Zombies so i run...... Found a building and I start killing them as they line up for death in the door. 5, 10, 15 down and more are coming, damn one gets me through the wall and I start to bleed.... What to do, bandage and risk it ro quickly shoot the rest? Suddenly there's something tugging at my head in real life, startled I drop the mouse and turn around. The Mrs. thought it would be funny to sneak up and put the baby on my head......nearly crapped myself. I grab the mouse in time to see the rest of the Zeds tugging my body apart. The farthest I had made it yet, and "killed" by my own child! Damn!

When you spawn, the lower left corner gives you an approximate clue as to where you are. Look left and right and compare that to a map (either printed, or Alt tab out to one). Once you get to cities, they are marked with roadsigns, major junction points are as well. Follow powerlines if lost, they always lead to a city somewhere. I keep a map in a window on my desktop and just Alt-Tab over to it when safe. Make sure its high res enough to zoom in on and keep it in a jpeg picture window for easy zooming. Web page map doesn't zoom well. Over time you'll learn some areas pretty well...
