  1. Also keep in mind that this is physically impossible in real life. I know it's a game, but there's still a high level of realism.

This would also horribly imbalance gameplay. One big disadvantage to some LMG's are the fact that some do low damage, but their pro is that they have a high magazine capacity. Just imagine people running around with AS50's or DMR's with 20,30,50 rounds in each mag and just spamming the trigger.

If I haven't convinced you, keep in mind that every single sniper rifle is a one-hit KO.

How, exactly, is this physically impossible? He's referring to taking two clips for the Enfield and creating an 8 round reload. Literally, putting the strip clips together. To put into the rifle. Reloading the Enfield in ArmA and DayZ is pretty inaccurate. And combining mags to the max, such as two STANAG 5.56 at 18 and 23, respectively, then reloading one with the rounds from the other, giving you two mags with 30 and 11 rounds, respectively.

  2. Hello there!

I just played some dayz and i came up with this:

Landlines: a couple of houses in every city should have telephones with specific numbers (not long). Near almoast every phone there should be a phonebook with numbers to different adresses.

there should also be some mobile phones with rare spawn and battery lenght (and a little more common chance for battery drops)

the mobile phones should also have a specific number ( can change if you log on to a server where someone has the same) and an option for vibration mode so you can sneak without your friend prank calling you.

    so what do you think?

And where, pray tell, would you find the cell towers for these phones? The power to supply those towers? If these are satellite phones, why would you think that there would still be the physical infrastructure on the ground to support the satellites?

  3. Does this not seem crazy? Thermal can be annoying and I have to say why wouldn't they add this? It should be able to go normal, thermal, and night vision. Really hope they change this at some point. Anybody else agree?

Well, when you have a sight which can turn off computer-assisted vision modes, or digital vision modes, lemme know. Because that sight A) doesn't exist, and B) will not exist for a while.

Now, let me tell you people something: the L85 will probably not be in the standalone. No thermal vision sights will, I should hope. The reason it is in this is because it fills a niche for a very rare weapon which has long range overwatch improvements. It should not have short range because it is a sighting rifle. That's the good bit. The bad bit is that you have to eyeball it for CQC.

  4. Oh god... Imagine if you're creeping through the forest, your group just saw a car go by, stop, and people get out, and you're tense, and then someone just lets out a massive THPPPBBBBT! Two people jump and shoot wildly, your entire group opens up on something, and then you finally calm down and the guy who farted says "That... That was just me... I farted..."

  5. You guys are so quick to stomp all over peoples ideas. Quickly stereotyping them and bringing up dragons and wizards and other stupid shit. Knights and armour do exist, therefor this is a valid suggestion. There is nothing unrealistic about what he has suggested, and this forum is for suggestions. If you just read it and commented "no" then why even bother? Atleast make a constructive and informative reason as to why you think this isnt a good idea. ANY other response please just dont even bother.

Think carefully about this: he's talking about a suit of plate mail. Found in rundown castles. That in itself is ridiculous. Unrealistic to the max, if you will. A) the metal would have corroded over the years, B ) there would be no padded fabrics that normally come with the suit in good condition, C) plate mail wasn't common in France or England, let alone eastern Europe. Add to that the fact that the reason knights were mounted is because they could barely walk in that armor, and they had TRAINED in the stuff for years. Your average infantryman couldn't even do that, let alone a civilian. Mail doesn't just pop on and grow lighter. You can barely shuffle in that stuff if you have full combat gear on. Alongside that, his suggestion of the metal being shiny is ridiculous. They didn't have shined metal combat armour. They had dull metal because it was supposed to be tough, not pretty. So a large amount of his post IS unrealistic. I understand your point of view as a moderator, but we have to point out that this suggestion is stupid. Plain and simple.

  6. Okay, for those of you who are saying that this is a Zombie game... That one guy... So what? It's supposed to imitate what being in a zombie apocalypse would be like.

A defibrillator, AS MANY PEOPLE HAVE SAID, is used to adjust the rhythm of a BEATING heart. It is not capable of restarting a heart. That's the job of CPR, which is capable of restarting a heart. At that point, you would apply an AED in order to test the rhythm, and if it's a fibrillated rhythm, you shock. Otherwise, you can't do shit.

To recap: you can't restart a heart without manual interaction. A defibrillator isn't magical. It can't do much aside from adjust the rhythm, from a problematic one to a safer one. The only way I could see this happening is if their blood were low, they went unconscious and went into cardiac arrest, which would be hard as hell to spot. You could do CPR and shock them in time to transfuse them, which would have a low percentage of working. That's about it.

  7. I think this sounds like a good idea dude. Although contacting these people will be difficult and working with these people, paying for these 100s of 3D designers unless they volunteer which I doubt they would do unless they lived near so I dunno about it.. but the idea is good I dunno if it is workable and doable

Well, the idea here is that they could model it at home, then post it. They could receive compensation based upon polygon count, quality, and low, mid, and high-res models, for distance model switches.

  8. They should add Defibrillators kinda like in battlefield it could take up your side arm slot or maybe 3 inventory/backpack spaces and could be used to revive dead players

Now before you all explode on me hear me out...

the defibrillators will not be overpowered and perhaps can be like Battlefield 3 where you only have a few seconds to revive a teammate.

of course once revived the player will remain with the injuries he had before he died for example- (player got shot in the leg broke his leg, started bleeding and then died if Revived he would

keep his injuries and have negative side effects such as stumbling when walking or a blurry screen even when healed and would take a while to go away.

Another thing if a player disconnects he would no longer be eligible for a revive.

Discuss guys give feedback on what you think should be changed in this idea or if you completely hate it.

No, if only because most wounds in this scenario would not induce V-Tach or V-Fibrillation, the two heart conditions which are capable of being reversed by a defibrillator. Also, you would not often find a battery powered defibrillator with paddles which are capable of being used in this sort of scenario. The closest thing you'll find is an AED, which is only good for about five shocks, on full battery.

  9. yup, shotguns in this game suck.

It would probably do more damage to an organic lifeform (a human) to be hit point blank by a slug from a shotgun than it would to be hit by a .50 cal anti material riffle.

But apparently in chernarus they accidently swapped all the slug and pellet ammunition with BB's just before the zombies came in.

Well, it WOULD do more damage to anything to be hit point blank by a slug from a shotgun. Because a slug from a shotgun is larger. It's not as fast, but it doesn't matter if the AM round doesn't tumble. The slug is more likely to slow down more compared to an FMJ 12.7x99mm round.

  10. I think it should have an adjusting third person, which moves forward or backward as you are enclosed. When you are right up against a wall, you can only really see the wall, just like in first person. This is obviously for the standalone, if that happens to use the RV4 engine, then that could be an issue...

  11. As much as I hate scripters and people who cheat, I got to admit there was one I encountered last night that scared the life out of me.

So right after me and a bud of mine logged in, we immediately heard a little girl laughing and singing "ring around the rosie, pocket full of posies." Which needless to say, was scary as hell to hear in the first place. Then we heard nothing for about 2 minutes or so but I didn't want to chance giving our position away to any players who might have coincidentally been in our vicinity. If I wasn't scared before, it wasn't until we heard the "grudge girl" noise right behind us. As I turned around, there stood a man with a hatchet, face painted up like a clowns, GOD MODE ENABLED, and hacked both me and my friend to bits.

    Two things:

    1. Touche for scaring the living daylight out of us, that was pretty original and pretty funny at the same time.

    2. You're a low life, god mode enabling cheater that deserves to get hit by a bus.

    Epic. Just epic.

  12. well, you addressed only one part, but okay.

Even if all match boxes had ~50 uses, have you actually tried to light a camp fire with just matches? It's a pain in the ass and will probably take more than 1 match... maybe randomized 1-4. And maybe not all match boxes have 50, maybe some have 20.

Have you actually tried to make a friction fire with just sticks and rocks? It's a pain in the ass. So is firesteel. I've tried both. I failed on the first one, second one needs lint to be most effective.

  13. I expected some constructive comments. Every one of you have answered in a negative and unappropriate way. If you want this game to evolve to something good, why do you rack down on other people all the time.

This forum is filled with kids.

Then let me give you the response you've been waiting for.

    No.

It's not feasible. It's not POSSIBLE. The engine barely runs well on good rigs. The PS Vita, which is worse than even my rig, which can barely run this at low settings, would choke on it. When they said watered down, they meant that the engine, the graphics, the mechanics, et cetera would have be watered down, not just the inputs, which would have to be simplified to arcade levels. It's simple: this is a simulator, not a mobile game. It can't be done with any foreseeable generation of handheld devices. Not until an i5, GTX 560 TI and 6 Gb of RAM can be crammed into one without overheating it.

  14. EXACTLY

Everyone in this game has a military gun as it is the most common shit that you would find in a country-side city, which is totally wrong, there should be waay more shotguns, hunting rifles, pistols, low caliber automatic rifles

NOT FUCKING M4A3 with Optics, or a AS50 ( a fucking anti material gun, used ONLY against armored vehicles ), M16A2 ACOG ( acog? Really? Ok lets fake that its super normal finding a extremely military only guns in a fucking shitty military airstrip.

Im not saying that they should be removed, but decrease their spawn rate, make like really fucking rare.

Yes, because an ACOG is uncommon on an M16A2. Trust me, for a military base, which America would have used in the ArmA 2 conflict, this could be seen as set after that conflict in the Alpha, and they would have brought in military weapons. An ACOG is standard issue for medium range battle.

  15. The reason third person was included in ArmA 2 is that an FoV of 180 is standard for human binocular vision. You don't get that in the game because it has 90 FOV, I think. Third person was to allow more natural vision, which sadly causes stuff like this. Third person is, and bear with me, the more realistic view mode, if only because it gives you a more realistic range of vision, but is set too high up. Either way, however, it is a feature which allows for much better situational awareness with or without this sort of peeking, and provides a way of experiencing your character as well.

  16. Did you read all my post? I said if the developer would make it that it will be stand alone or you don't have to use AO, seriously, read all of it. What, do you want so me kiddy pictures in it so that you will read all of it?

And how would the developer make the mod standalone when it's still in Alpha? He requires the base engine from ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead for the mod, which is a mod because it modifies Arma 2. So, when you get over yourself and decide to pay the 30 dollars, just 30, to buy a game which is great itself but better with Day Z, come back to the forums. Jesus, you won't even take criticism.

  17. i know every body have problem with this weapon

    "FN FAL AN/PVS-4 NVG"

it's extremely rare weapon but it can't turn off NVG to use in day time = useless

Suggest: ability to turn off Night Vision Goggle for this gun(a little less realistic......)

You generally can't turn off the night vision in that scope. It's not Night-Vision goggles, it's a night vision scope. You can't turn that off, due to the passive nature of the scope. It's not more realistic.

  18. So once again like any suggestion I make, I really could care less if it even gets considered as I love DayZ and don't care if it changes.

To start off, I was in a thread about having more cars and less gas. Now this would drastically change the game, and this is how I came up with this idea. The idea of letting servers choose how much of what they want to spawn by choosing a percentage on a slider. They could choose from general or specific and choose the spawn percentage to anything on the map. Now I already can see that it might not work for everything since some items only spawn in certain areas, but it still should all in all.

With this different servers would give different game play, and with Wiki/Google and just seeing how many players join what servers, the Admins will then know what players want and be able to set the percentages. Players may get bored of playing the same ol' DayZ and hop to a server with say... A ton of cars, as if Russia's car supply didn't just disappear or get destroyed. Also changing the sliders would justify how far along the outbreak has been going.

Servers would obviously have the option to keep things the same, so everyone would be happy. Either way though, if a server really wants to change I guess they could mod it themselves? I know, I know I could see this going both ways, good and bad. Once again it's an idea that could be changed, as to only be able to change certain items percentages.

This could also mess up the balance of cross-server play. If you play on multiple servers over time, you'll change from high gear spawn to low gear spawn and low food spawn to high food spawn, and that could actually disrupt certain aspects. Just constructive criticism to consider here.

  19. These are my ideas for dayz when it is its own game.

    - Different types of clothes/gear that reduce damage done to you from zombies mainly but also reduce maybe some or a little bullet damage

Examples - football helmet and shoulderpads, bulletproof vest, other sports protective equipment, etc.

The reason for the sports equipment is because in a real apocalypse there would be plenty of sports gear for survivors while military gear would be rarer.

    Zombies should be realistic.

    - Zombies run slower by 20% each half of a week that they don't eat (from humans or animals) so basically the zombies would become crawlers due to starvation after a couple weeks.

    - Zombies should be able to hit u while running but at reduced damage maybe 25% less?

    - Zombies run at a normal humans speed. (unless they are hungry as stated above)

The ability to farm for food.

    - Would be shorter than in real life. Either option A: 1 day equals 4 or 6 hours or B: simply reduce growth time or C: both A and B

Weight of items decreases run speed and endurance.

Survivors should be realistic and start as an "average" person.

    - Able to increase accuracy with weapons after shooting for a period of time.

    - Start with a person who has not shot guns at all or very little and therefore would be less accurate than it is currently in the game.

    - Start with a person with average fitness.

    - Fitness can be increased by running and maybe finding weights as items in-game

    - Using weights for your arms would increase melee weapon damage. (after sleeping)

    - Running for 10 minutes increases run speed and endurance slightly each time. (after sleeping)

    - After running for too long or using weights u have to sleep to receive the benefits.

    - After running a while or working out run speed and melee damage is lowered until you sleep.

    - Sleeping somewhere comfortable decreases time needed to sleep. (tents, beds)

Clothing and accessories should be added

    - ear plugs

    - gas masks

    - warm clothing (usually heavier)

    - light clothing for running fast

    - shoes: light shoes, heavy durable boots, cleats

    - ghillie suits and camouflaged clothing (reduces your visibility to zombies)

    - Bulletproof vests

Please tell me what you think of the idea and if u have something to add

No leveling up. NO STATS. NO EXPERIENCE. You should get better at aiming, and you should have a more efficient movement ability. Nothing beats an out-and-out run, and you're not going to get better at if after ten minutes. You won't get great at it at all in some sort of apocalypse, because food is limited, meaning you won't have enough nutrients to create and sustain muscle. You'll get thinner, but weaker. You're not going to get stronger.

  20. I am the same, i often have to change servers at my play start until i find one that is suitable. However i still dont think i would have a tenth of the disconnects that some server hoppers and pussies have.

To be honest, this wont in any way affect anything. I'd just like a little reminder to these Alt-f4, server hoppers that they arent legit.

Have a Leaderboard of top Alt-F4 and Server Hoppers. The Top Ten Soft Cocks

    It would indeed be interesting...
