Battleye Aware of False Positives
roscowgo replied to theo@theodormay.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Battleye must be absolute crap. I was magically transported across the map in two completely different servers last night. Legit players bannination. Script kiddies "The hills are alive with the sound of maaaaaccccroooooosssss" -
Military Flashlights.

A master baiter of epic proportions. -
Maybe bonus points if the servers are linked, if you wander down to Baltimore and DC you get servers running from there. And zombies that try to eat your babies...

Whatever it is, I hope that it's *big enough*. Player interactions are wonderful things, until they happen every 3 seconds 24/7 and you can't get away from them. I pointed to EVE in another post and I'll do it again. When that game started it was GINORMOUS. When you did see another person, or group of people you immediately got intense. Who are they, why are they here, are they here for me, etc etc. You need somewhere that you can feel isolated, alone, and fairly confident that you know what's going on around you. So that when Billy-bob badass and his minions show up, you take notice and get that emotional smack upside the head. I want a game (not gonna happen anytime soon) that mimics whatever location the server is set up in. If the server is running from NYC, you get EST, local NY weather, temp, seasons....and New York City spread out before you. Full of deadly survivors and zombies.

EVE Online was this way once. White knuckled, shaking hands, sweaty palms, mind going at 4000000 directions at once....

What is the point to DayZ, if not to kill players?
roscowgo replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The ultimate point is to have fun. Under that is survival, within the confines and mechanics of the game. I suspect that the overarching subtle point, is to see what you evolve, or devolve into when placed in a scenario. Lord of the flies, or Robinson Crusoe. -
Thanks for the info. Do we have to worry about windage along with drop and travel time?

I can't seem to find a specific answer to this question anywhere, but does effective range mean that I lose accuracy out past X meters, or does the bullet just magically disappear never reaching the target? If the former, does anyone have any ballistics charts for how the game handles projectiles?

I completely understand your frustration with six. I just discovered commander today myself.
