Yeah he's undoubtedly the #1 survivor atm. I think he's survived over 2 or possibly 3 weeks already.

    Karma affecting starting gear

Basically yeah they'd now have to decide between scavenging towns for supplies, or risk killing other players knowing that if they fail they'll only be digging themselves deeper in terms of blood levels. Perhaps now the idea of scavenging towns for supplies, or getting players to give them blood transfusions might seem more appealing. Edit: to clarify your starting blood would be tied with your humanity/karma, so if you keep going for cheap kills and cheap deaths your starting blood will start off lower and lower each time. Eventually even the most stubborn deathmatchers will realise they best start working on improving their blood, either through time consuming hunting or through player-assisted blood transfusions.
  3. A mid-priced one off fee would be best, and some sort of cosmetic dlc could be added if the bills aren't being paid. I don't think many will feel comfortable paying full price for an MP-only game, even if it is one of the best MP games. So something in the $20-$40 range would be ideal. As for studio vs community development, I hope you guys consider at least a little community help. Stuff like the JSRS sound mod already rivals even the most professional of studios. Lastly a kickstarter would be great. Assuming this would become a standalone game running on the arma3 engine, there should be a lot of interest and a lot of people willing to pay extra to get into the alpha/beta stages earlier. If it's a kickstarter for a standalone arma2 engine dayz, then you'd probably see much less interest.

Why the Anti PvP arguments are pathetic

Yeah probably less than 1% of the community actually wants pvp removed, however a large chunk of the community wants it to be further refined. Hopefully people will eventually stop lumping these 2 viewpoints together.

    We need a purpose.

It takes a lot more dev time and resources to give players the chance to build/rescue/investigate/etc, than it is to simply hand them guns and let them kill each other eh. But yeah ideally this sort of stuff will happen some day. Hopefully with funding it'll happen sooner rather than later.

    The PvP Discussion Thread

The bottom line is the game currently isn't rule-less. As much you guys like to fantasize about it being a rule-less wild west, there are rules set by rocket, and the 1 current rule that dominates the game is: When you die it's gonna take you 10-20mins to respawn and get back a winchester/cz/enfield so you can go back to playing deathmatch. If you guys enjoy playing within this unrealistic deathmatch framework then that's totally cool, but at least acknowledge that it is a deathmatch framework and not something that is realistic nor balanced. Anyway I enjoy the game as is, but I wish the pvp veered to being more real and more brutal, and not the arcadey deathmatch that this game turns into day by day.

    The PvP Discussion Thread

The problem with rocket's last post here is that he hasn't yet actually created a blank set of rules with complete player freedom. I'm talking about stuff such as respawning players and respawning items. They may seem like innocent features on the surface, but the reality is that they encourage negative behavior such as item spawn camping, rampant killing, suicide attacks, etc. Simply put the current set of systems and game mechanics that rocket has designed offers more freedom to negative playstyles and less freedom to positive playstyles. What this game needs is more complexity, more systems, and more rules to help positive playstyles achieve an equal balance of freedom to those of negative playstyles. DayZ is a great experiment and I totally respect rocket as truly up there among the best, but I just hope he doesn't rest on his laurels thinking the current game is anywhere near balanced.

    Should we scrap bandit models?

No, keep them for now. While the system is flawed and buggy, it's a lot better and more realistic than having no identification system at all. Unlike real life, here you can't recognise unique clothing, unique faces, you can't overhear unique voices speaking over vent/ts. Also on veteran servers you can't even see names. Bandit skins are simply the only current game mechanic tieing together intel and reputation with actual identification.

    The PvP Discussion Thread

Stuff like ignoring chat, shooting without warning, acting friendly then backstabbing, these are pretty cowardly ways to kill others and you're always rewarded with a lot of items with next to no consequence. At no point is skill ever used, but rather just desperation and cowardice. However if you take the time to communicate, give warnings, come to agreements, identify and trade items, etc, you end up with much less reward. Anyway the bandit system is a small step in the right direction, however it still needs a lot more work to turn this game into its full potential and not just a mere sandbox deathmatch game.

I don't think anyone wants a no-pvp server, but rather a pvp server where there is actual consequence to playing cowardly and reward to playing friendly.
