In my opinion there's a difference between KoS and PvP. There are proper honourable bandits out there that hunt, thrilling in the chase, pitting their wits agaisnt other geared survivors - unfortunatly the dick KoS Bambi hunters who alt-F4 when shot give the real "bandit players" a bad name. Then there's those in the middle crowd who always intended to play with honour (bandit or survivor) that keep getting KoS by dicks as new spawns over and over and over and over so they naturally end up KoS mentailty and it's a vicious circle. Best PvP battle I had was 4 of us went to Stary, 2 enemies come down over sniper hill, one of us gets shot, we kill the other. Then a group of 3 arrived in a vehicle from the south. 2 of us are doing over supermarket and church while the other ones at the tents. He takes down one of this new group before getting shot while the 2 of us back off into the surrounding fields to get a good view on the place. I can see one guy at the tents looting our teamie so we shoot him but come under sniper fire from the last vehicle guy. I spot him with L85 in the top level of the big red barn and he gets killed by someone else on sniper hill. Then as if that wasn't enough a helo comes in from the north and I'm in the only bush in the middle of a field and he's over me, possible screaming at the gunner to shoot me but the gunner can't see me. Then the mysterious guy on sniper hill starts having a go at the helo so it pulls away from me and tries to shoots my mate who was between me and the sniper. At this point I shoot the gunner out of this side of the helo (my 3rd and last person I killed in this game) and we see another guy bail out of the chopper. The chopper then goes and kills the sniper guy and we snipe the bailer before letting rip at the helo with everything we've got. Helos pulls off out of the area and suddenly all is quiet. What an epic battle - at least 14 people, at least 3 groups, maybe 2 lone wolves in the mix and only 2 survivors live to see the end of it - this shit is real PvP people! Not some noob bambi hunter at the coast. There is so much more to DayZ, sadly half the people don't get to see it as their entire life cycle is killing new spawns then Alt F4ing when shot at. Just becasue I don't kill in this game doesn't mean I am a carebear, I've just seen what is possible in this game and it's epic, and it caters for all playstyles, bandit or medic.

After upgrading I ran to all the places I used to get them and it was all clear. Then last night I'm running around the east industrial spawn in Cherno and randomly started to get mild artifacting, somewhere I'd never ever seen artifacting before.

There is no game "design" in DayZ, it's not even a game, it's an "anti-game" to quote Rocket. No rules, DayZ is a sandbox, it's whatever the players want to make it. Edit becasue I don't want to argue: I am all for all types of playstyles, but I hate people complaining they are bored, if you are bored and there's no challenge then there are many other games to play.

I'm going to fail as well, only 37 here :) I am kinda happy I'm actually too young for a thread, making a woman feel younger than she is - you know how to impress the ladies ;) It's awesome to see so many older gamers about. In all honesty I thought this game would be full of older, strategic minded gamers that liked to be challenged by a sandbox environment when I first started. I was sadly disappointed to see it full of CoD kiddies, but they seem to get bored fast so I think theres hope.

Awesome story, I have no idea what people mean when they say they go "Bambi hunting" (killing defenceless people) because they are bored and the KoS is all down to boredom. This game is 100% what you make of it, use your imagination, set challenges, set up a base and defend it. Maybe the new leaderboards can make use of stuff like this "most zombies killed without killing a player" haha Sorry about the $20 though but the story is worth it :)

Cries on forums about being killed by hackers, is happy to pick up hackers weapons....... It's the same people who thunderdomed you or teleported to you and shot you in the middle of nowhere the day before.

Longest was 6 days when I first started out, all low pop servers, hiding out in the woods with shitty assed gear since I didn't want to get KoS. I was missing out on 90% of what the game had to offer. After 2-3 weeks I learned not to get attached to my gear I decided to actually play the game and not sit there bored shitless. Now - I die every day, probably between 4-6 times a day because I actually have fun, raid places, sweep for camps in the usual spots, try to meet random people, try to help newbies, go and raid for spares of newbie gear so if someone dies we can give them essentials like a map and matches as soon as possible. I improve my map knowledge to make me a better asset to my team (I don't kill in DayZ so I need to make myself useful as medic, spotter, analyst, potential camp locations, guessing enemys intended locations if we spot a vehicle driving away in the distance) If I havn't been to an area I make a point in going there and exploring. So yeah, dying twice a day would be classed as a good day for me :) One of those deaths per day is normally from a hacker of some description, I have trouble believing people can stay alive so long without encountering one on high pop servers.

If it was a hacker you'd most likely have died again. You could have spawned on this server on a tank trap or piece of barbed wire or inside a parked vehicle, doubtful but all options where I've seen the same thing happen (only with the short egg timer, not the long one). My vote goes for a bug - I've had this on 2 occasions where "shock" appears to carry over from the last death onto your new spawn, hence the 10 minute egg timer. It's normally been after a high damage death through non weapon means such as thunderdomed or heli crash or hacked artillery strikes.

Were you in your hero skin? that could've been why. There also may have been other people not killed that you and no contact on comms with. Alt F4 will not help you with certain hacks since I guess the hack has the ability to block your Alt F4 function. Our whole server got teleported and I was the only person to survive since I never Alt F4 it's not a natural reaction for me, I just exited the game quickly using the normal method as soon as the deaths started pouring onto the screen. Everyone else tried to Alt F4 only to find out too late that it was blocked.

100% agreed, tents don't destroy items under normal circumstances, instead the items end up on the ground but they can be some distance away from the tent so have a good look round.

Agreed, I've seen this a lot, all groups playing as the black guys to make it easier for them to identify enemies. I really havn't seen any racism in this game, everyone gets KoS lol I did actually try to get my whole team to go as gingers but they point blank refused...........

Really funny stuff, and I can relate to the "I wasn't gonna shoot my friend but then I got high, I was gonna give him a bloodbag but then I got high" My mate tried to give me a blood bag last night and ended up hatcheting me and killing me by accident, I'm guessing he was high :)

You are talking about script kiddies and not hackers if it's showing stuff in the logs, "hard hacks" will not show anything in the logs at all so SAs have to use other ways of working out who the hacker is.

Is there even a truck spawn on Skalisky? Looks higly likely that the truck and everything in it was hacked in there. Like Rocket said, you can't be globally banned for accidently picking up a hacked weapon, however most servers will ban you for using it since it's a massive indication you are a hacker. When they check the logs to find out who's hacking the server it's 99% of the time the guy wth the hacked weapons.

Was he stood up walking with his gun in the high port position (ie aiming)? I have no real coroboration of this by the way, however one of our guys got DC'd from TS (and the server according to him), and then his character who was still in the game started walking around like a robot with his weapon aimed and shooting at us all. It didn't look like a hacker was controlling him since he missed 80% of his shots and didn't chase us down, just shot at us and hit when we walked in front of him. It almost seemed because of his DC that a bot took over his character. There is a small chance he was trolling us of course, but I do trust him when he said he wasn't and it's highly doubtful he would be landing shots on us if it was him trolling. Like I said, I have no corroboration so please don't quote me on this one. This is just what it seemed like to 5 very experienced players while it was happening and when I came on the forums to look there were 4-5 threads about supposed bot players doing random things.

I found a moutain dew 2 days ago, got killed shortly afterwards, no great shock since I die 3-4 times a day anyways and this was my 8th find of one. However, in IRL I then went to my car to go out, which had been fine the day before, and it didn't even have enough power to work the central locking, it was dead as a doornail. These things are cursed I say, I am never picking one up again!

Many servers have this problem when they auto reboot, no tents and vehicles. Next restart they will probably be all back again. Edit: ninja'd - beans for you :P

Rinaun only cleared the server a few days ago because people couldn't log-in to the server, plus they added in some more buildings with loot spawns into the map in towns where there was no loot before . You can't afford to get attached to your gear in this game, just gear up again and have fun. You are right, Rinaun's is a community of dedicated mature gamers with 24/7 admin support - I fail to see the problem in that :P

My gang is the same, we play 30% Hive and 70% private hive now. A lot of the private hive servers have many more anti hacking/scripting tools enabled and the ability to kick griefers, altF4ers, dupers, hacked weapons, without fear of being black-listed, Plus you can't ghost on a private hive, it takes a lot more skill to launch an attack. Although I am loyal to the game and main hive, I will admit all of this does make for a superior playing experience in my opinion. I think people have the opinion all Private Hive servers are fluffy and friendly but although there is more chance of having a friendly encounter, there is still a lot of KoS and PvP. The difference is that the PvP is mainly up north with well geared people instead of some noob with an AS50-TWS raping entire groups. I think everyone would benefit from playing on a private Hive for a few weeks to realise "Don't Get Attached To your Gear" - it might stop them bitching on the forums all day about dying.

It doesn't sound like you are at the right building, the hospital has a big row of 12 windows all the way along the front. They all have a medical type symbol on each window. You can climb in any of those windows or the door without blockages. http://db.dayzwiki.com/buildings/36-hospital
