i'm not sure, what the hell is with capitalising every word? As for the post itself: this used to happen the first time I installed DayZ but it was finxed by simply deleting all DayZ mod files, verifying the game cache for the Arma games in steam and then redownloading/unpacking the mod files for DayZ manually. If you aren't sure how to manually install check youtube or search the forums here, it's explained very well in a few places.

KoS point of mechanics whereby you dont spawn right next to someone else is definitely a good idea - and i love the idea of spawning in the smaller villages. imagine spawning in старое, орловец, мста or шаховка, that would be so cool and totally give that 'lost in the big bad world' type feeling as there's no decent loot immediately near to you, you're spawning in a place that's tiny in comparison to some of the place on the map and you're mostly going to have to run through forests to get anywhere decent in somewhat of a hurry. hope this is implimented. -

one thing i'd love to see in the next hotfix: character doesn't eat like a retarded 12 year old anymore, that would be amazing :) i genuinely can't eat while i play DayZ in the event i need to make my character eat, that noise makes me feel sick.

when you're at speed, pull the mouse back to angle the nose and take off. to land, bring it down gradually and be careful as fuck.

the weasel and i have driven from england to nederland a couple of times now, from his house in the south of england its about a 6-8 hour drive depending on traffic and the dover-calais ferry and we always rock some good music all the way. the best stuff for us has got to be; Dopesmoker by Sleep (this is always the pinacle) Eve by Ufomammut Blood Lust by Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats Graveyards' second album (can't remember the name of it) Черный Альбом and Группа Крови by Кино excellent albums for a long drive and mostly very fitting for a drive to Amsterdam :)

i've seen this issue with 'SVD class' mentioned so many times now but i'm non-the-wiser of 1. what that even means and 2. what the issue is. by SVD 'class' are people referring to the two models of SVD in 1.8? (from my understanding a non-camo version is now added)

i've seen loads of goats and cows, oddly enough though mostly near the coast. havent tried to harvest any of them for meat though so can't comment on the bug whereby yo ucan't get a gear option to gut/take meat - though i've noticed a few people have mentioned this.

it's such an arcade feature to impliment, i genuinely don't understand the reasoning behind it myself. i'm not really bothered by it as i haven't had to respawn since it was implimented nor do i hang around place like elektro or cherno - but Berezino spawn? what's that about? I know you actually spawn in Nizhnoe but close enough, Berezino is one of the best places in my opinion and you don't even have to work to get there anymore.. and the fact that it's replaced Kamenka as a spawn is just unfathomably illogical. Kamenka was a good spawn because instantly you have the 'oh shit i need to run and do something about this' feeling rather than the 'oh i'll walk 2 minutes to a military loot area and get geared out' CoD feeling, so you'd frantically sprint up to Zelenogorsk. well, unless you're one of these CoD kiddies that can't accept their given spawn and just purposely die to zombies. EDIT: Kamenka was the very first place i spawned too, so i'll personally miss that spawn should i die. EDIT 2: I've just realised (having played a new private hive server my new clan put up last night) that Kamenka spawn is indeed choosable, good :) -
Updating from 1.7.7.1 to 1.8 - is it worthwhile

Hi all, I don't often make threads on here as pretty much all info I want is already findable, but I want to ask a question I haven't seen yet (though no doubt I'm just asking something that has been asked 80+ times already, oh well). I've just got back to playing DayZ after a while of inactivity due to house moves and such and have been playing 1.7.7.1 a little since getting everything back up and running and to be honest it feels like it did before my downtime, just with less bugs and smoother running. My questions is as the title states, do you guys think it's worth updating to 1.8 or just staying with 1.7.7.1 for now? I've read about a few new bugs with 1.8 that sound kind of annoying, but also a number of new features that sound pretty enticing - do the pros outweigh the cons, vice-versa or is it about neutral - and of course do you feel it is genuinely a better patch in any significant way? I'm not bothered about how it's affecting mods such as Epoch or Origins or whatever as I like to play vanilla and there are still a number of vanilla servers for 1.7.7.1, I see there are some reputable vanilla servers for 1.8 already too which is good - especially one I read on earlier which is 3DP OFF, hardcore difficulty and so on. Let me know what you guys think, pretty much any videos I've watched on youtube about 1.8 aren't helping me decide either way and most of them are pretty droll or trivial. Am I putting too much importance on something that isn't really much different at all? I don't know, you tell me :) Thanks guys. -

Thanks for the reply CMoth, I actually ended up playing with a new clan last night - we played some 1.7.7.1 private hive then went onto public which involved updating to 1.8. I'm already geared so I don't know how different looting feels but the layout of stuff is good enough, safe to say once the servers you play are updated it is indeed worth updating too. -
looks like a loot spawn issue maybe with one of the new loot spawn areas in 1.8? that's my guess from that anyway, might be worth manually updating your patch to 1.8 and then trying as opposed to having commander update for you, as i've seen multiple people having issues with updating that way.

server version is typically in the server name somewhere (look for 1.7.7.1, 1.8 etc.) and you can see what version you are running from the DayZ start screen (where you see options, multiplayer, exit etc.) in the bottom right hand corner. it should tell you your version of dayz and also the beta patch you are running for operation arrow head itself (the game DayZ is running from). 1.7.7.1 servers require beta 103718, im not sure what beta patch 1.8 is using because i havent updated to that yet. hope this helps.

yep new starts are tense as fuck, love that, but my currenet guy is now 318 days old and we have a pretty dangerous mission to extract a friend who has just started playing tonight, i know some 12 year old with a DMR is going to fuck me over... oh well :D -
either when i had a mate on the back of an ATV and was blasting along, crossed a bridge and the ATV did a perfect back flip and landed perfectly on it's wheels and rolled on, only to fall on it's side for literally no reason 2 metres or so later - that or when the same friend hit a zombie at low speed with a bus whilst a group of us were looting Vybor and the zombie went flying and landed on top of a building. priceless moments :) thank you DayZ, thank you Arma 2 physics engine.

the suspense_08 file, first time i heard that i'd just turned around and caught sight of a church - that was pretty apt and cinematic. i turned off the ambience a long time ago now though so as to make it 1. more realistic experience (despite the ambience really helps with high immersion) and 2. to hear the environment/nearby people better. -
