yep that's the normal port of call - but sometimes i get a gun before a hatchet. it's rare i have to ever shoot zombies tbh, that's just an example i've come across once or twice -

too many tears shed by those that can't last 5 minutes without giving away their position to zombies, i imagine. personally i think the detection radius is fine as is the damage - the only thing i find questionable about 1.8 zombies is their seeming respawn rate. if you're in a building and you have to shoot a couple zeds that are blocking the entrance then chances are you're spending the next 5 minutes using most of your ammo against an almost-never-ending line of zeds and chimpanzeds. gets a bit boring after the first 2 minutes. -

agreed completely, i just find things like origins and epoch strenuous and boring - not the kind of gaming i signed up for with DayZ. it is however, as statik mentioned, totally down to personal preference. most of my fellow clansmen prefer epoch over vanilla or any other re-mod.

hillcampers are typically the same people that camp spawns and spawn kill repeatedly in games like counter-strike. they're retarded, have no skill or imagination and don't have anything better to do - they don't usually have many friends in game or out. by the way, i've never personally died to one of these douchers - i don't bother with elektro or cherno but rather run north the moment i spawn and gear up in places more discreet before heading to staryj or the likes -
probably the ones with 023840234092 vehicles and 2034923042 helis :P

no 'official' means nothing. used to mean public hive, but yesterday i saw someone posted about their 'official' server which was dayz overwatch - not regular dayz - with 12934029354u092 vehicles and 03485703956830456 helicopters... just got to keep trying really dude, since my return to dayz in the last month or two i havent encountered one hacker on a public hive server, which fucking shocked me to say the least considering the state dayz was in with hackers before i took time out (due to lack of internet, wasn't a choice of my own)

I mostly like the idea, but if there starts being food, guns, medicals and all the rest of it in hospitals they're going to basically be a one-stop shop - sounds like you could just go into a hospital and end up fully geared which is a little object defeating. i agree there should be more to the hospitals though, maybe an uncommon spawning of food in a cafeteria or something but no guns/weapons.

to me, death messages are just a part of the arma legacy and with this being a standalone i don't think there's any place for death messages. if some unknown-to-you doucher got iced in szeged i wouldn't know if i was in apátfalva EDIT: someone erally needs to make a hungarian-based map for DayZ, the landscape is perfect :D

card is fine, i have 8GB RAM so i'm not sure about 1GB that might be a bit small for Arma 2 engine. what processor? processor is a vital part

if he is hosting it simply from his own connection then there's either a. too little bandwidth to support you or b. a firewall preventing outside connections. if he is actually in possession of a proper server box then it could be a qwhole host of problems that i have no clue about :)

try setting antialiasing to default setting and ensure vsync is off if its graphic-related/fps lag, kill your peers if its ping related :)
