inb4 Inception. 'debunkers' i quote - as realistic as possible whilst still retaining fun. -

fuck it, the P2W noobs will still buy the game, if they don't play it once they realise it isn't call of duty anymore so what? devs get their well earned money and DayZ is given back to the real DayZ players :) win win situation have I ever heard one -
nicely written man, entertaining stuff :beans:

the hatchet seemingly had a 5235 foot range before, so it's about right they sunk it tbh. time had it you could swing your hatchet from zelenogorsk and take out a zombie in tulga -
if you left SixUpdater version installed after reinstalling and then installed commander too it might be conflicting, uninstall both then just install with commander - if you have tried that then remove them all and manually install dayz

ShannonZKiller - Jan 2013 - Interview/Livestream with Rocket

"Q: Has you ever sought inspiration from Eve Online?" haha, sounds like Ali G asked that question" -
I stand corrected :) thanks for this as it's news to me (granted, I don't often follow interviews and such but gain most of my insight from forum posts and legacy). EDIT: just read that linked interview; "Q: Will there be an in-game notes system? A: Yes there will be notes, even books." oh great.... prepare yourselves for needlessly racist, petty and cock-obsessed little kids

Rocket himself has said he doesn't want to put anything story-related in the game - indeed as you mentioned it is supposed to be your story, so I think you'll be soarly disappointed if you're expecting something this as much as hoping. I believe DayZ Origins has a patient zero zombie in there, but whether it gives any kind of story from it or whatever I cannot say as I don't play stuff like Origins or other mods like it. Maybe have a look into that one if you haven't already.

let's bring .50s back, and while we're at it let's add map nuketown and traning ground. oh and how about a Stinger? i'd also really love to see the M230 MLRS and Stryker tank added. </sarcasm> EDIT: training grounf fixed to training ground

be man, test alpha!

great idea! but make the anvils static (you can't carry an anvil round in real life) so you must go to certain warehouses or so to use them, that would be brilliant. KoS you've done it again m' boy!

as long as this doesn't go to epoch you'll likely see me here often :) -
i haven't seen this one, i'm going to watch it now but i'm in the office - hetstaine if i erupt into laughter and look like a tit it's your arse on the line my friend EDIT: ok that was pretty funny

PDW or G17, love them equally as much EDIT: never had a problem with PDW accuracy, though the coveted M9SD i find inexcusably bad for anything over a few metres

as far as i understand, there won't be private hive servers for SA nor will there be custom servers - at least for a good while. i might be wrong in that but seem to recall it being the case.
-
i know you can find servers that are close, but it's rare enough now and none of them have decent populations anymore - and those that do are just filled with KOS whores, there is literally no communication outside of your own little group anymore which sucks if you aren't playing with a group. i've heard good things about dayzero but i've heard nothing but bad things about the people that play it 'all bandits etc' kinda stuff which puts me off playing, as the playstyle i so loved doesn't sound like it exists in there. i think i'm just doomed to nostalgia :)

it's a sorry state of affairs for sure, DayZ genuinely hasn't been the same since i got back to living in a house with an internet connection after about 5-6 months of living in the wilderness and it has nothing to do with how the game itself actually plays. seems like during my downtime the game became flooded with people that never should have started playing DayZ in the first place and should have stuck to 3-minute round FPS like counter-strike or whatever and sandbox builders like minecraft or gmod. such a shame public hive vanilla is so badly done to now, back when we ran a server in 2012 it was constantly populated, pretty much all proper players too doing things the right way - there were rivalries, there were people devout to helping people they didn't know, hell i remember we met one guy through one of us running around for two hours (literally) trying to find this guy we didn't know just to give him some morphine and rescue him from the glitchy bastard zombies that had screwed him over and left him to die. that guys name was phil and he became the third man of our group, playing for hours every night for months straight. holy fuck i loved those dayz, i know a lot of people are hailing to standalone as if those times are going to return but i think we all know in our heart of hearts it will be a different beast - which is both good and bad in different ways. now don't get me wrong, i'm obviously buying DayZ when it comes out, i just think it's a huge shame that the only places i can play in the meantime that have a decent population are bastardised version of the mod that should never have happened. DayZ is about being paranoid and having an itchy trigger finger and crawling around to find beans, not building a damn cottage. EDIT: edited spacing so it's not just a sickening wall of text

well played, old bean
