Why Punish People for a Certain Playstyle?
RaysGoodLiquor replied to bazbake's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
With that logic, hacking/cheating will always prove to be the best strategy. Basically, you're suggesting that if you're not running a god mode script, you aren't playing your character to his/her full potential, and are a noob. I don't see the point in alt-F4ing because there is really no payoff. I don't see why so many people get attached to their items anyway. The gear most people find good enough to Alt-F4 to save, I can collect in about 2 hours from a fresh spawn. 2 hours of work lost in this game is NOTHING. -
How long to wait in loading screen until close game?
RaysGoodLiquor replied to roguetrooper's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I give it about 8-10 minutes for Chenarus and 15-20 for Lingor. -

Understanding Why the Game is Getting Boring
RaysGoodLiquor replied to skudd3r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Isn't this the point? Suffer through a broken and battered alpha for a chance at a great finished product? I was upset when the Team Fortress team stopped supporting Team Fortress Classic, but we all lived on and played TF2 instead. Life goes on. -

Make NVGs require batterys
RaysGoodLiquor replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I was a little upset to see that you don't start hallucinating after wearing night vision for an extended period of time. That's the crappiest part about NVGs in the real world, but it takes 5+ hours to kick in. It would be pretty cool if wearing NVGs for 30 minutes straight made you see shadows move around or something. -

Don't hide your bicycle under a tree
RaysGoodLiquor replied to SmashT's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Same thing happened to me 2 nights ago. My group logged out of our camp with a fully repaired and loaded Ural and ATV. Saved them under some trees far west of the NW airfield. Logged in the next day with 2 empty buses, and both had only a mountain dew in their inventory. We assumed it was scripters, mainly for the Dews. -
A general idea on how many people hack with dayz.
RaysGoodLiquor replied to DOX (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Considering the weaknesses in Arma 2's engine, I could see 200k fairly easily, especially when people using publicly released bypassers are running rampant on a weekly basis. With over 1,000,000 players, I wouldn't be surprised in the least to think that about 20% of the community cheated in one way or another. I can't tell you how many people I have played with in game, mostly from these forums, that advocate the use of dupe and other in game glitches, but horribly oppose scripters. I can see their point, but it's fundamentals are tragically flawed. -

Do you listen to music while you play?
RaysGoodLiquor replied to chris p. bacon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It depends. If I'm actually playing, no. It's hard enough to hear important stuff in game due to skype. I sometimes broadcast 80s pop over direct com when running or riding long distances in a vehicle. I've used music to lure people in during bandit trips as well. -

I saw a flashlight once, and it reminded me of Dayz. -
Had a pretty odd one last night. I was in a group of 3 friends, and we decided to do some banditing in Elektro on a high populated server. We ran into the fire station, and as one of my friends was checking the tower, someone ghosted in on the steps behind him and killed him. We bailed and ended up in the school when we started taking fire. Someone with a custom skin was running down the street and we opened fire on him as he ran into the pub (yellow house). He exchanged shots with my friend and I, then a player death showed. We ran into the pub to wait for our friend who was spawning back in, and things got wild. My friend was watching the top of the steps while I bandaged myself and checked the body, and a group of 4 people in bandit skins ran in, and were shot by my buddy. 2 of them came back for revenge, creeped around the pub for a bit until we eventually killed them. A few minutes later someone ran in with a huge trail of zombies, screaming over direct communication to get out of his way. I panicked due to the lag making him rubber band, and hit him once as he ran to the back bedroom. I followed, only to find someone in the hallway with a DMR aiming at me. I hipfired while getting shot in the chest, and we ended up killing each other. My buddy showed up that had died earlier, took all the gear (there was a bunch, probably spawned, everyone had NVGs), and found the screaming guy with a broken leg in the bedroom, calling them assholes over com. I'm not sure if the DMR guy ghosted us, or was in the back bedroom from before the custom skin guy ran in. Could have been a ghoster getting revenge, but I'm not leaving any buildings uncleared anymore.

Dayz Former Hacker Story And AMA
RaysGoodLiquor replied to Murdoc1234's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You made it 32 days without seeing hackers and being killed by them, so I don't see why you raged and turned to the dark side. I'm lucky to go 3 days without a thunderdome, server nuke, or teleport axe murderers, so you should have been pumped to have lasted so long. -
KOS will always be a "problem" and this is why
RaysGoodLiquor replied to armyof12monkeyss's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're not factoring in the playing experience of those without a clan or large group. Obviously it's not a problem for you, because you have back up. Even if you die, I'm sure a lot of people have contributed to your camps to restock on gear and weapons without having to take the same risks that solo players and small groups deal with. I'm not knocking your play style, but why try speak for the community that there isn't a problem with KOS when your play style rarely encounters it? It's a valid complaint, but still part of the game. Only the community can change it, so if there are a lot of turds playing the game, a lot of people just trying to find a coke and can of beans is going to get a NW airfield's trip worth of AS50 bullets put into their back. -
It seems like you would get a watered down version of the game on consoles. The maps are too big, the player counts are too high, and there are way to many controls and parameters to account for without a keyboard and mouse. You would have to give the game a generic first person shooter control system to make it work, and it would completely change the way the game is played. Not to mention, if you think kill on sighters are bad now, wait till you play it on XBox live, especially if the game is cheap enough for anyone to download on a boring weekend.

I can only imagine the fun scripters are going to have with this. Spawn the entire server onto hostile dog island.

Whats your worst Dayz luck?
RaysGoodLiquor replied to Jonny45412's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Died to a hatchet murderer in Berezino. I ran an extremely long distance back to my camp in a different server and regeared. As soon as I spawned back into the higher pop server I had just died on, I got teleported to the island SE of the map and immediately got grenaded. I had the last of the Stanag SD rounds on me :/ my group is kinda pissed that I left the camp with 11 mags, but in retrospect, it was a stupid decision on my part. Almost every death on a high pop server is coming from scripters now. -
So, I have a Satchel Charge...
RaysGoodLiquor replied to UbiquitousBadGuy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
1) go to a heavily populated night server. 2) Plant satchel in loot building of choice. I like churches or stores in major cities. 3) Light road flare outside of front door 4) Profit -
I'm a little irritated by the system to be honest. Once you've gotten 5-10k points in the direction you want to go (bandit/hero) you have some breathing room, but it really limits your options while you're still hovering around 0. Anyone with a bandit skin is usually shoot on site to anyone, bandits and survivors alike, mostly because it's a free kill without consequence. I've finally gotten my bandit skin off, but everytime someone without a bandit skin starts getting frisky with me, I only have the option to run away to prevent getting a bandit skin, even when I am better equipped to win the engagement. It's especially annoying in major cities where new players will chase you with a makarov or a hatchet, and instead of whiping his face off with a remmington, I have to try and lose him so I don't get the "HEY! KILL ME!" skin. I validate that my opinion may change with more game time though, but as of now, it's not fun being unarmed with a bandit skin that you didn't deserve, especially when it bugs on through multiple lives and humanity shifts.

Snipers poll, what is your main gun?

The Fal AN/PVS. It's a semi auto Lee Enfield with a night vision scope. What else do you want?
