Your flashlight should have a power switch or button, but make sure you have batteries first. For chemlights, bend from both ends as though you are going to break it in half [don't actually break it in half though, you will look like a pleb]. You will hear a crack as the compartment that holds one of the two chemicals breaks open, allowing the liquids to mix inside. Results should be instant. As well as a pile of wood & matches, you may need some kindling & small pieces of bark, dry grass etc to start a fire. Good luck!

I like the idea. Maybe you could apply a dimmed/gradient version of the night-vision overlay (without the night vision effect, just black corners) which darkens & spreads with over-use, to simulate the 'tunnel vision' of an addict. In time this fades & you get your peripheral vision back. So to speak. One morphine, two painkillers before effect kicks in too harsh?

Are you playing on a private hive? I spent a while looking for ghillie/camo suits until I was told they had been removed from the loot table on that particular server. EDIT: Scratch that, since you now need a toolbox to repair vehicles it seems kinda counter-productive to wipe it from the loot table...

Most servers have the global side channel disabled. Why do you want to chat in DayZ anyway? It's not a cafe.

Playing at night with moonlight, flipped my ATV I found on top of Klen on the way to Berezino looking for parts & supplies. Ran the last few hundred meters and noticed a bloke helping himself to guns & that tinned pasta that I like in the apartments north of the Lumber Mill. He seemed happy enough to blow zombies away with a 1911 willy nilly so it was pretty easy to get eyes on him. I was in a rather bleak mood after losing my vehicle & I don't normally shoot before trying to talk to comrades, so I caught my breath and the crisp snap of a 7.62mm round could be heard in Berezino, then silence. Karma took a bite out of my arse later when I burned in a GAZ that I stacked. Drinking and driving is never a good thing IRL, or DayZ, as it turns out.

One word no-one has mentioned: RANDOM. There's a CHANCE they will spawn, so don't bank on finding one. In saying that however, I've come across up to five scattered about on one server, two literally at either ends of the same field.

I've had one of these guys spawn before too, 99% sure it was not hacker related as I was the only player on the server [night]. He spawned from near the church in Mogilevka.

Campfires DO provide heat, does anybody actually know the game mechanics anymore?

You need a toolbox buddy, not the entrenching tool, and go to ironsights aiming at the iron pole to get the menu option: remove CAT wire.

Had a quick search but I can't seem to find my answer. I have a ghillie suit on my character at the moment, plus a suit of camo clothing in my pack. If I were to wear the camo, would the ghillie be placed in my pack or vanish?

On two occasions I've found ghillies in the red-brick house with the archway entrance in Stary.

This has (legitimately) happened to me before, looking for crashed choppers at night. It's just bad luck, depends on who spots who first.

Once loot spawns around a chopper, it won't again. If you roll around the grass near the chopper: better have some morphine handy.

This sort of thing is happening more & more to the point that I've basically erased blood-bag transfusions from my survival strategies. Friendlies are now bandits, and bandits are still bandits. As a solo player it's working out much better for me to kill everyone I find, and use cooked meat to raise my blood when it gets low. Downside is, there goes any fun I used to have with the social aspect of the game by bumping into complete strangers & co-surviving. Does this game turn everyone into lying, cold killers, or are there still ACTUAL friendlies around?

Vaulting seems to be very conditional, & sometimes toggling stand/crouch stances has helped for me in the past. Get yourself a toolbox as soon as you can mate.
