Black screen while game still running

also report it on http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view_all_bug_page.php post your dxdiags there, update video drivers etc. Maybe the devs can figure it out.

    Dxtory and x264 codec

Does dxtory have an anticheat compatibility mode? Try that. if you have the laest dxtory then contact battleye with your issue [email protected]

    DayZ.exe not a valid win32 app

for some reason, if you used win xp compatibility mode you got 15-20% more fps. That broke at the same time as dayz broke on win xp itself.

    DayZ.exe not a valid win32 app

if you have an application like a game and want to support 32 bit OS'en then you have to design your base game to use max 2GB of ram. On 64 bit you can make 32 bit apps use up to 4GB but you making the core around that 32 bit OS limit. By doing that you might be limiting your game. I can understand going 32 bit when making a retro platformer or something else with a small footprint but not with a game like DayZ. Some interesting stats from steam. DX 8/9-11 breakdown of graphics cards. http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/ 2.4% of the cards are DX9 or below compliant. OS use http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/directx/ 17.23% are 32bit 4.18% are windows XP If DayZ dropped XP and 32 bit support then 17.43% of steam users are affected. The last 32 bit CPU releases were at the beginning of 2004 (at least for intel) If you have a valid windows key then you can download the 64 bit ISO from microsoft and install it using your key. if you are a pirate then you will pirate.

    DayZ.exe not a valid win32 app

I meant cards that are not DX10+ compliant. They just do not have enough horsepower because they are so old. Watching a 30 fps turd that is rendered in 480p is not playable.

    DayZ.exe not a valid win32 app

When they implement the new renderer they can use any graphics API, OpenGL, DX9, Mantle, DX12 etc. The question is, will they implement support for them? There were people who were playing this game in DX8 mode, will they support that too? DX9 is old and inferior, you can't do certain stuff and other things are more expensive. The minimum requirement cards from geforce 8000 and radeon 3000 series are DX10.0 compliant. There is no legitimate reason to support DX9. This game is unplayable on the DX9 only cards. Hell, in certain situations its unplayable on a GTX 980.
  7. seems you've done everything imaginable contact battleye [email protected] he might have some additional advice for you or maybe it is something he has to fix. You are not the only one experiencing this.

    Dayz doesn't launch

I bet its a problem with battleye. uninstall and delete everything to do with battleye, verify game files in steam, turn off firewalls and AV and try again if that doesn't work try http://battleye.com/support.html support[at]battleye.com

    Tried everything, NO LAUNCH

I think this is an issue with battleye. Uninstall battleye and detele all BE folders (sorry, couldn't tell you where they all are, 4 in total I think). Then verify the game files in steam, BE installs, join the game and hopefully it works. It might be your firewall/AV interfering with BE and not even telling you about it. anyway http://battleye.com/support.html support[at]battleye.com I'm sure he can give you detailed instructions for what to do.

    DayZ.exe not a valid win32 app

From steam. MINIMUM:OS: Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1 Processor: Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz Memory: 2 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 or Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 512 MB VRAM DirectX: Version 9.0c Hard Drive: 10 GB available space Sound Card: DirectX®-compatibleRECOMMENDED:OS: Windows 7 SP1 Processor: Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD Phenom II X4 940 or better Memory: 4 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or AMD Radeon HD 7750 with 1 GB VRAM or better DirectX: Version 9.0c Hard Drive: 14 GB available space Sound Card: DirectX®-compatible So officially win XP isn't supported. Also when the new renderer comes out with DX11 support, I do not think they will continue supporting DX9 since it is the source of so many unfixable issues. That would end the game on win XP. As for the reasons XP and 32bit versions of windows might lose their support. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens only due to battleye. Battleye has to make their kernel driver specifically for each windows version [XP, Vista, 7, 8.1 (10)] and then 32 and 64 bit variants for all. A lot changed between win xp and vista so I imagine it is "easy" to keep Vista, 7 and 8.1 going while XP is an unnecessary burden in regards to its market share. The second thing is that battleye might not be able to do everything it wants to stop hacks and detect hacks on 32 bit or hacks might be able to hide themselves better on 32 bit. For example Organner who is a supplier of CSGO hacks has his ring0 hack (went undetected for 5 years) only available for 32 bit, he says that its to reduce chance of detection. + As DayZ grows the devs might want to let the game use more ram, I could see the game eventually going 64 bit.

    Battleye Failed To Install

You could try disabling UAC for the install, then turn it back on. What once happened to me is that I allowed something through UAC but the process got snagged on something and failed with no error messages. Just didn't work.
  12. Have all containers have a capacity value. The capacity value should take into account the available volume and to some degree the sturdiness of the container. Each item should have a weight/volume value that fills the container capacity. A 2kg teddy bear might have the same weight/volume value as a 10 kg box of ammo because of how much volume it takes up. Random unorganized thoughts: 1. Why do we even have inventory tetris when we can't rotate our items? 2. With the new method balancing backpacks and items would be trivial. Just change 1 value. 3. To prevent a mosin from fitting in a child's backpack you can have classes of containers that will accept their class or smaller items. Small-medium-large. Can't jam a pumpkin in your cargo pants but cut it into slices and you're good to go. 4. Its stupid that you can only fit 35 batteries in your mountain backpack, this would make things more realistic and just better. 5. I don't know how many items can the engine handle in 1 container or how they are handled. I know that people were crashing their games, servers and bugging their characters on the hive by having too much stuff on them (backpack in backpack). Right now this is a problem for scripters who have too much stuff on them (20 layers of protector cases). 6. Its busywork and slows down the gameplay. Rearranging your items is not fun and the inability to rotate them only adds to that. I do not want to think about it. Why can't it be an organised list by container so you can easily find stuff and look at their conditions/use them? 7. Its not like there is a penalty to taking an item that is in the bottom slot of your backpack vs one on the top. Why this design choice that adds nothing and only complicates? 8. Item location in container does not correspond to what is destroyed. Get shot in your calves = ruined everything. Shotgun to top of backpack = ruined everything. It slows down the already slow gameplay and adds to the clunkyness.
  13. 1. That'd be a start but just another layer to a dead end minigame. 2. How exactly is it any different right now? There is only 1 value right now, number of slots. Capacity vs 3d model size and color. How would it be any different in that regard with the new system? 3. Because it adds nothing to the game. Item location in back pack will not have an impact on: a. what gets damaged b. what gets wet c. what gets soiled by damaged items d. back pack 3d model e. how you get damaged f. how one item might damage another and it won't. The only reason to rearrange items in your backpack is to make it easier to find your stuff and to have the more critical stuff like bandages on the top so you don't have to scroll down in a firefight. You can rearrange a list/icon grid too. Make it even more authentic by making it real tetris. Only let us fill bags from the bottom up. 4. With my system it is easier to accommodate bigger items than it is to accommodate small items for the current one. The slots would have to be just way too small. Can you imagine how small the slots would have to be for individual seeds and bullets? Thousands of slots for a mountain backpack. You'll have to rearrange them, move stuff around when you want to put bigger stuff in because there is a nail floating in the middle of your bag etc. Too small to see and what if you want info on the item? Hover over a 2px x 2px thing? What I propose is more versatile and enables a more realistic depiction. 5. That was my comment on engine limitations. The servers can't handle too many items in a container. Not about the exploit that brings about the issue right now. 6. It adds nothing of worth while being a limiting design that makes the inventory system cumbersome. It only enables the people who are willing to put up with the TEDIUM. DayZ has enough of it already as part of its core gameplay. Packing your backpack right IRL is important because of the points in #3 and those won't make it into the game. 7. You can rearrange lists and icon grids 8. It won't. Each inventory slot will have to be a hitbox on the model and on the inventory screen the containers have no depth. Even now its too many slots to make them hitboxes, what if there are hundreds or thousands of slots? 9. We have the 1-9 quick selection bar that barely responds for quick equipping. The game shouldn't add depth and complexity for the sake of it, especially if its to the detriment of the overall experience. There are weapon attachments, camo options, crafting, farming, energy efficient foods, slot efficient items, optimal loot runs, item placement (split your bandages between containers) etc. Those are depth done right. You don't need to deal with them but if you do you get something out of it. "Depth" and complexity should not be a part of player controls, handling (animations, responsivness), UI or the inventory system. You should be able to have fun and master the game without those fighting against you. DayZ does a lot of fighting, and often to the detriment of fun. It has gotten better but there is a lot of room for improvement.
  14. That is certainly an interesting and unique invontory system. I'm still leaning towards an orderly list or an icon grid setup (H1Z1 has both, WarZ has the latter). While the "Life is feudal" one looks good, with items having durability and other properties (wetness, temperature, and how much left) I feel that those properties can be better represented in those inventory styles. It should be apparent at a glace whats up with an item, I shouldn't wait for an on hover popup. In a list it can be Carrot (RUINED) 2 Pants (worn) 1 Grenade 3 Bottle of water 50% 1 Brown hat (WET) 1 whatever
  15. Haha, unconventional idea of fun. I just feel like DayZ being as slow as it is due to the size of the map, people per server, loot distribution and ways to get around (fixing rare vehicles), there really shouldn't be any auxiliary annoyances slowing stuff down and breaking up the action. The UI and player controls shouldn't shape the gameplay.
  16. Afaik they are working on a new UI. Could just be a shinier inventory tetris with item rotation.

Remaster Weapon Controls, Interaction, and Loading

If the devs won't make your gun model collide with world geometry then I think that the only penalty to having a big gun should be a slower run speed.

What is up with the farming hoe?

last time i used the farming hoe it sucked, pretty sure he was using a hack
  19. Papers that have nothing written on them and papers that do should have separate models, names and textures. In inventory too. One should be "Paper", other should be "Note". This way I will be checking out the notes people write (because I'll be aware of them) and leave some myself. Right now its likely just going to be blank and a waste of time. I am surprised I haven't seen a suggestion for this yet. Anyone agree?
  20. Backpacks should have models for various states of fill. There should be more carriable containers like plastic bags, purses, suitcases, sports bags, satchels, tool boxes, fanny packs etc. Anything you can think of. Just a little something I saw as missing. Post ideas if you have any.
  21. Right now the issue with the Mosin is that it is hard to spot your hits. As soon as you fire you work the bolt and jerk your gun around, making it hard to see what happened. I have 2 fixes for this but I don't see why all of them can't be implemented and hav them be toggleable. 1. On pressing Mouse 1 you fire, on Mouse 1 release you work the bolt. 2. First Mouse 1 click you fire, 2nd Mouse 1 click you work the bolt. The third toggleable option would be how it is now. You fire and work the bolt with just a click. I feel that this is the best solution, makes using the weapons more involved too. Any feedback?
