First, it should be 64 bit no matter what. If you buy windows 7 or 8.1 you'll get a free upgrade to windows 10 for 1 year, with 8.1 its forever. I would get windows 8.1 64 bit. Some people would argue against it and go with win 7, but Microsoft fixed most issues with the 8.1 update and the people made up their minds when it was still 8 and won't budge. Go with windows 8.1.

delete all launch options for dayz in steam delete this dayz folder C:\Users\Franzuu\Documents\DayZ you don't have 32 bit windows, do you?
-
for future reference to anyone that comes across this, battleye needs to be run in a windows environment. It won't work in WINE or anything like that.

Remove all launch parameters for dayz in steam delete this dayz folder C:\Users\Franzuu\Documents\DayZ

delete launch parameters in steam for dayz ( if you already didn't) delete this dayz folder C:\Users\Franzuu\Documents\DayZ I don't know about upgrading to 64 bit, but you should do it. At least you will be able to use all of your ram. Your windows 7 key for 32 bit (home/pro/whatever) works to install the 64 bit version too

ok, delete all launch options for dayz in steam delete this dayz folder C:\Users\Franzuu\Documents\DayZ and delete this dayz folder C:\Users\Franzuu\AppData\Local\DayZ verify game files on steam launch the game

Ok, try installing all available windows updates. install all of them, check again, install, check etc until no updates are available. Uninstall steam if you still have it. Disable antivirus and any firewall you might have. Download steam from here http://media.steampowered.com/client/installer/SteamSetup.exe run the installer as admin run steam as admin and try to install Dayz
-
what happens if you try to open the 2 battleye .exe files in dayz folder? Try running them as admin.

your CPU An intel 4 core that you can overclock to 4.5+ GHz would be good like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117372 but you will need a new motherboard too. There are some general fps issues in 0.54 due to a bug or several bugs try deleting all launch options in steam for dayz and delete this dayz folder C:\Users\Franzuu\Documents\DayZ

Everyone gets bad fps in cities. I want to say 15 fps in elektro for your specs.

AMD FX 8350 + Nvidia GeForce GTX760 terrible lag problems
franzuu replied to hedgehog90's topic in Troubleshooting
The link you provided supports my point and proves that you did not read my post. I wasn't comparing GHz numbers but the computing that those GHz get done. I was normalizing the scores for 4.4 GHz (Intel stock) to give a better idea to how overclocking both will improve things. Both CPUs OC to about 4.7-4.8 GHz. Hz to Hz Intel is ~190% the performance of AMD. If you look at the CPUs at stock speeds then Intel is more than 200% performance of AMD at single threaded and multithreaded operations. With Intel having 4 cores and AMD having 8! cores. Intel>AMD Only go with AMD if you need 50% the performance of Intel and don't care about power usage. Intel i3 4370 costs $10 less than the FX-8350, has BETTER! performance and uses 70 watts less than the AMD. THERE IS NO REASON TO GO WITH AMD. Only reason would be is if you do not need the performance, don't care about power usage, aren't going to buy a graphics card and will be playing games where the Intel iGPU won't cut it. AMD has a better integrated GPU than Intel. That is it. Or if you have an AMD mobo and do not want to buy a new one. Even then you really should just spend the extra $60 for a new low-end motherboard. -

Do not listen to these AMD fools. 10 years ago amd and Intel were neck to neck, if not amd being in the lead. You are the one who is stuck 10 years in the past. AMD is less power efficient than Intel and has worse clock per clock performance. I didn't find a perfect benchmark but lets look at these http://www.anandtech.com/show/8426/the-intel-haswell-e-cpu-review-core-i7-5960x-i7-5930k-i7-5820k-tested/5 All CPU's are running at stock clocks. Lets look at the single threaded ones. 4790K @ 4.4 GHz vs FX-8350 @ 4.2 GHz. I'll normalize the scores to 4.4 GHz Dolphin Emulation Benchmark: Intel - 100%, AMD 53% Cinebech R15 Single Threaded benchmark: Intel - 100%, AMD - 55% 3D particle movement single threaded benchmark: Intel - 100%, AMD 52% With Intel (Haswell) you are going to get almost 200% the single threaded performance of AMD at 70% power use. AMD doesn't even have the performance per $ going for it. Intel is twice the performance at less than twice the price at 70% operating costs. FX-8350 is $170 and i7 4790K is $330 (newegg) AMD<Intel, no arguing against it. -

Remove all launch options for dayz in steam delete this dayz folder C:\Users\Franzuu\Documents\DayZ the best thing you can do to increase performance is to overclock your CPU. Intel CPUs are a lot better than AMD. Switching to an intel 4 core no HT will give you a huge performance boost on DayZ, even more if you overclock. -
plz help me i want to play so much love this game game freeze
franzuu replied to lolol's topic in Troubleshooting
1. Remove all launch options for dayz in steam 2. delete this dayz folder C:\Users\Franzuu\Documents\DayZ 3. verify game files in steam. 4. try to play the game -
First I've heard of it. Go to Dayz properties and delete all local data then try to install again. You can try reinstalling steam. Try installing some other game on steam, do they have no issues?
-
What am I looking at? Delete all launch parameters Delete the dayz folder C:\Users\Franzuu\Documents\DayZ If that doesn't fix it then switch to experimental and if it still persists then make a report on http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view_all_bug_page.php?page_number=1

DayZ won't launch out of Steam Libary
franzuu replied to PrinceOfArendelle's topic in Troubleshooting
Are you sure it isn't your antivirus or firewall that is blocking something? Try running both .exes as admin in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\DayZ\BattlEye what happens? Any errors? Try reporting this on http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view_all_bug_page.php?page_number=1too I do not think that this is the issue, but do you have up to date graphics drivers? From what I remember from your previous thread, I bet its a conflict between battleye, some anti-virus program and lack of admin privileges. Maybe your anti virus blocked dayz/battleye and won't even bother giving you a pop-up about it anymore? -
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\DayZ\BattlEye and run both of those exes as admin, be sure to disable you antivirus or allow those files. Uninstall DayZ Delete this folder C:\Users\Franzuu\AppData\Local\DayZ Delete this folder C:\Users\Franzuu\Documents\DayZ Run steam as admin and install DayZ Open DayZ Try reporting this on http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view_all_bug_page.phptoo if that doesn't work Do you have an admin account on windows?
-
really strange, report this on http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view_all_bug_page.php Tried reinstalling audio drivers? Delete dayz folder in documents?
-
That would point to something to do with your setup. Try reporting this on the feedback tracker http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view_all_bug_page.php maybe they can help you.

A source of unnecessary clunkyness in Dayz? Inertia when moving.
franzuu posted a topic in General Discussion
I made a video of 3 speeds, I let go of the move key at first rail. 1. walk, stops on a dime. 2. default speed you slide for 1 meter 3. sprint you take 1 more step and move 2 meters. I feel that having this inertia thing on the default movement speed is wrong and on the sprint it is way too much. When you want to take 1 step closer to pick up a cucumber you end up stepping on it. This is why people fall off 1 m high ledges all the time and break their feet. This is why moving inside buildings and tight quarters feels so bad. This is why melee fights where you are forced to move around feel bad. IRL you slow down and move your center of gravity if you want to stop at a certain spot. You have better contol of yourself, fine tuned control that you do not get in a video game. I made 1 more video. I want to take 1 step but end up moving 2.5x the distance of that 1 step because of that inertia slide forward. I think this sliding inertia thing should be removed from the default movement speed and significantly toned down on sprinting. The default speed isn't that fast that it would be unreasonable to be able to stop precisely. Leave it on sprint and have ground condition, shoes and item weight affect all of it. Don't make using the default speed (that you use for most activities) make the game feel crap. On the feedback tracker http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=22069
