  1. There is no in-game global and it should stay that way. People use other programs to coordinate meetups. Use a chat program to coordinate over long distances. When you are nearby you can use direct chat in game.
  2. This relates to the removing of 3rd person (making 1st person better) and I made it its own thread http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/160187-make-1st-person-less-clunky-remove-mouse-acceleration-deceleration-smoothing/ but I feel that it also belongs here Currently in DayZ when you move your mouse slowly it translates to fast movement on the screen but when you move your mouse fast or jerk it around it actually translates to slower panning than if you had made the same movement slowly. This isn't mouse smoothing which can be turned off. Rocket said that this is because of the way they do different weapon handling stuff (CQB stock VS regular). I have proposed a change to this in a previous thread I made which I'll paste here but I'm going to expand on it. From the previous thread http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/157752-proposed-changes-to-weapon-handling-debuffs-accuracy-tradeoffs-etc/#entry1580659 2. Remove mouse smoothing handling debuffs from longer weapons and add back weapon collision (CQB stock vs standard on the M4 for example) instead 2a Add back weapon collision into the game. A longer rifle, an attached bayonet, stock, short stock, no stock, folded stock etc, it all changes how well you can maneuver in tight spaces. 2b Add inertia to swinging around your weapon. A weapon that has more attachments near the end is front heavier. Shortening the stock and removing attachments from the front (flashlight, bayonet) makes the gun easier to handle. Its shorter and less front heavy. Making the back end more heavy can make it easier to handle but adds other problem, but is still part of the equation. A front heavy guns' muzzle will lag behind on a fast swing and overshoot its target when the person stops at it. This would add an element of skill to the game. An experienced player will be able to fight the inertia by: 1. Stopping before the target. 2. Actively fighting the overshoot inertia by dragging the mouse in the opposite direction. 3. Lowering their weapon on the swingaround. I don't know if this condition is worth adding, seems more of a hassle and we don't have so much control over our characters for it to be worth it + any benefit would be lost on the muzzle lag on the upswing. Main benefit would be that you don't get caught on stuff. Muzzle lag on downward swings should be counteracted by gravity. Same kind of inertia should be the property of melee weapons. Now the inertia and coordination difficulties or whatever that will slow you down when turning around. Make it so that when you turn around you just rotate your torso and the turning of your legs and hips will lag behind. The faster you turn the more your legs and hips will lag behind. This is how it is in real life.

    Suggestion: Rain Ponchos

This is what I mean by wet raincoat textures Only that it would be dynamic with raindrops splashing on it, running down, raindrops joining, whatever. + refraction effects for the droplets.

The M4 sound is very bad, along with the ballistics

I don't think they redid the m4 sounds, they hired their sound guy after making the m4. He worked on the mosin and the mosin sounds good. Also, check the the first suggestion thread in my sig.

The RV engine is the worst engine ever made.

At least 636,456 copies sold as of writing this. Perhaps this will speed up some parts of the development and maybe things like replacing the rendering engine will be pushed forward.

Dayz selling like the clappers :o

    at least 600,000 copies sold

Anticheat needs to be integrated FAST....

considering that it was hacking that killed the mod then yes

    Suggestion: Rain Ponchos

I have recently learned that a rain poncho is more commonly referred to as a rain cape.

    500,000 Dayz Milestone

I would not have dared guess that it will reach 500K nearly this fast.

The Alpha NEEDS a SUICIDE option!

I quickly did some actual thinking for once... maybe the Alpha doesn't actually need a suicide option. When we bought the game we were warned that there are bugs and that we shouldn't be playing it. The Dev team and the company are clearly devoted to the game and are actively fixing/developing stuff. Our purpose/task is to play the Alpha to test it, not to play it for the sake of playing it. We shouldn't be asking for stuff that will facilitate our playing of a buggy game. We should play the game like we will once its done and not make use of any temporary bandages for broken stuff. If a suicide button is added then people are less likely to report that they got stuck in some hole and the bug will go unfixed. What if someone wants to kill themselves inland, they jump off a tower and find a serious bug. If there was a suicide button then that bug would not have been found as quickly. A suicide button has no place in the finished game so it has no place in the alpha. A suicide button that is in response to issues with geometry, physics and hackers/scripters is the work of a lazy and incompetent developer. It would be the work of a developer that sold their broken and unfinished game because they wanted money. It would be the work of a developer of a shit game. I would be mad at a developer like this that instead of fixing the underlying issues gives us a quickly slapped on 'fix' for a range of serious issues that will continue to disrupt and lessen our enjoyment of the game. A suicide button doesn't belong in the final game, the devs shouldn't be working on it and wasting their time. They should fix what is there and create more.

    $13,775,130

Valve cut, sales tax, income tax, server costs, running wages, expanded dev team, maybe a new plug-in, lambos, hookers, lifetime supply of herpes cream and the money is gone.

    Rumored patch tomorrow?

Be glad that the Devs don't celebrate Ramadan lol. 1 month of not working or you're going to hell.

This is a really really bad ducking game

I made a thread that proposes many changes to the current weapon mechanics, check it out http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/157752-proposed-changes-to-weapon-handling-debuffs-accuracy-tradeoffs-etc/#entry1580659

  21. 10. Remove the precision/random bullet wander penalties from all of the weapons.Currently a pristine M4 is useless at longer ranges, starting at about 70m, which is actually really close. I suspect that a lot of this stuff was done to make killing harder and to combat kos. Instead make weapons more complex (made up of more parts) and spawn weapons in worse conditions, on average. This way people will have to work for good weapons and the more they have to work for them the more likely that they are going to get themselves in trouble which will give them more sway, shake whatever. And if a part of a weapon is damaged then don't make it give a BS penalty, have it affect the stuff that it would affect in real life.
  22. I made a thread on the topic that covers this, I think its pretty indepth Proposed changes to weapon handling, debuffs, accuracy, tradeoffs etc.

  25. 1 more thing In regards to wind affecting bullets. There is no good way to gauge wind in video games. In DayZ the clouds move incredibly fast and thick-ass trees sway at their roots. I personally don't like for it to be an UI element. Wind affect should be limited or not at all. Elevation: elevation affect on bullet drop should be in the game. Makes it harder to snipe, and that is what we want, right? Humidity and temperature, hard to gauge that, shouldn't be in. Coriolis effect, very very minimal, not worth it. At ranges that it would matter players would probably be out of the bubble.
