Differentiate clean papers and those with writings.
franzuu replied to franzuu's topic in Suggestions
I like the pinning thing. Wonder if DayZ could utilize something like garrys mod has, tacking stuff onto other stuff. I have no technical knowledge how that would work though. -
Could you tell me the settings to achieve this? Adapt? There is no reason for this to be the way it is. Its inefficient.
-
Its the mouse acceleration on/off thing that doesn't work. The sensitivity sliders work.

http://www.Twitch.tv/FRANZUU Long story short, I want to start streaming on Twitch. I need help with getting started and improving my stream. I'm looking to get feedback on stream quality, entertainment value and what do you think of me as a person. On first impression: 1. Would you be a viewer of my stream? 2. If yes, how could I improve? 3. If not, what must I change for you to be more likely to do it? 4. Would you even view a gaming stream? What do you think of watching video games in the first place?!?! 5. If the problem is with me, don't be afraid to voice it. Any piece of advice or critique you can give me. Either PM me here, on Twitch or in the chat. ALL options are ok. My stream is here http://www.Twitch.tv/FRANZUU At least come in and say hi. Going live after posting this. Keep in mind that this will be my first stream (apart from a test stream), so expect awkwardness :p. My dream is to become a full time streamer. Prepared to use every last ounce of willpower to make the necessary changes required for that to happen. You can look at my past broadcasts if I'm not live when you see this. Go to my stream page and click on the "Videos" tab in the top right corner. It is next to the "Chat" tab.

Whether it is getting stuck in geometry, glitching into a locked room or a hacker teleporting you and it triggering a ban on you, the alpha needs a suicide option. Just make it so that it enables 10 minutes after spawning so that people will have to work for their desired spawn points. To those that don't agree with me, I have changed my mind http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/157239-the-alpha-needs-a-suicide-option/page-3#entry1590459 , might I say all on my own too, lol. Other Ideas: ACOG Backup Sights, Rain ponchos, Pistol Optics Expansion

Some say VAC sucks, some say PunkBuster sucks and some say BattleEye sucks. Years ago I was somewhat close to the anticheat scene involving PunkBuster and some of its games, some of the private hacks remained undetected for a year or more, I don't know if it was a matter of them having too many games to support or deciding that the number of people using those private hacks isn't worth their time or what... Same thing with VAC, some hacks remain undetected for a frickin long time, some are never detected. What I'd like to see is detection methods for hacks that are totally private, exchanged between friends and closed communities or totally self made. Since you are working in the anticheat business, what is your opinion on battle-eye screenshots (PBSS)? There were blockers for punkbuster (black screen, custom pictures, desktop screen, picture just not received, screwing around with the data in the screenshot, hack visuals turned off etc.) With the release of windows vista and directx10 punkbuster screenshots somehow broke and I don't think they ever bothered to fix them. What is up with that? Need of elevated privileges in the OS to take them? Ease of blocking? It would certainly require a higher bar of entry for hack creators. Did they copyright the technique or something?

get PunkBuster into the party too, the unholy trinity :p

the game runs on a 24 hour clock, a lot of the server providers also decided to make their servers permanent day. You'll have to play for a long time to see the transition.

So people getting kicked and banned by Battleeye are hackers?
franzuu replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I did some googling and found 3 public hacks for standalone and 11 private hacks that you have to buy. -
Why Mouse Acceleration and Responsiveness desperately needs Fixing
franzuu replied to 27 others's topic in General Discussion
I made a thread on the same topic, check it out http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/160187-make-1st-person-less-clunky-remove-mouse-acceleration-deceleration-smoothing/#entry1609143 I have different suggestions -
DayZ is NOT fun for new players, which makes me worried.
franzuu replied to Murakamo's topic in General Discussion
I gave you beans even though I don't fully agree with you. DayZ is not for everybody, for some personality types its not even an acquired taste. Gearing up, surviving, dodging bandits and figuring out where you are/where to go is the main part of the game atm. Sure, running around with your friends is great but you should be prepared to have fun doing everything that precedes it and be fine with your time with your buddies being cut short. -
the money isn't going to speed things up, its going to make them more ambitious, the project will become larger in scope and depth and will take longer. I'm fine with that.

made a thread about how to fix some of it while still keeping things balanced and not too easy. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/157752-proposed-changes-to-weapon-handling-debuffs-accuracy-tradeoffs-etc/#entry1580659

Alpha - report bugs on the bug tracker and discuss mechanics, request items, functionalities, w/e on the forums

made a thread on it too, rocket said in one of his streams that it is there because of "gameplay" I suggest alternatives in my thread http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/160187-make-1st-person-less-clunky-remove-mouse-acceleration-deceleration-smoothing/#entry1609143

Is there a date given for the last char.wipe?
franzuu replied to thewolfpack's topic in General Discussion
I suspect that the last wipe will be when the game is fully released, 2 years from now. -
Turn up the short term survivability from bullet wounds and other stuff but make it so that you can get fucked up in a lot more ways, bad ways. This way you can escape/retaliate but will likely die anyway.

Make 1st person less clunky - remove mouse acceleration, deceleration, smoothing.
franzuu posted a topic in General Discussion
Currently in DayZ when you move your mouse slowly it translates to fast movement on the screen but when you move your mouse fast or jerk it around it actually translates to slower panning than if you had made the same movement slowly. This isn't mouse smoothing which can be turned off. Rocket said that this is because of the way they do different weapon handling stuff (CQB stock VS regular). I have proposed a change to this in a previous thread I made which I'll paste here but I'm going to expand on it. From the previous thread http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/157752-proposed-changes-to-weapon-handling-debuffs-accuracy-tradeoffs-etc/#entry1580659 2. Remove mouse smoothing handling debuffs from longer weapons and add back weapon collision (CQB stock vs standard on the M4 for example) instead 2a Add back weapon collision into the game. A longer rifle, an attached bayonet, stock, short stock, no stock, folded stock etc, it all changes how well you can maneuver in tight spaces. 2b Add inertia to swinging around your weapon. A weapon that has more attachments near the end is front heavier. Shortening the stock and removing attachments from the front (flashlight, bayonet) makes the gun easier to handle. Its shorter and less front heavy. Making the back end more heavy can make it easier to handle but adds other problem, but is still part of the equation. A front heavy guns' muzzle will lag behind on a fast swing and overshoot its target when the person stops at it. This would add an element of skill to the game. An experienced player will be able to fight the inertia by: 1. Stopping before the target. 2. Actively fighting the overshoot inertia by dragging the mouse in the opposite direction. 3. Lowering their weapon on the swingaround. I don't know if this condition is worth adding, seems more of a hassle and we don't have so much control over our characters for it to be worth it + any benefit would be lost on the muzzle lag on the upswing. Main benefit would be that you don't get caught on stuff. Muzzle lag on downward swings should be counteracted by gravity. Same kind of inertia should be the property of melee weapons. Now the inertia and coordination difficulties or whatever that will slow you down when turning around. Make it so that when you turn around you just rotate your torso and the turning of your legs and hips will lag behind. The faster you turn the more your legs and hips will lag behind. This is how it is in real life. -

Thank you, While making 1st person a lot better does pertain to the removal of 3rd person, this is not the place for it. It has its own 30+ page thread and I posted this there too. I have made suggestions for how to make it so that when negative acceleration is removed it doesn't turn into a twitch shooter. Read the original post and if you have something to add then please do. -
Removing chat function sucks for deaff players
franzuu replied to redfirm's topic in General Discussion
There is no in-game global and it should stay that way. People use other programs to coordinate meetups. Use a chat program to coordinate over long distances. When you are nearby you can use direct chat in game. -
This relates to the removing of 3rd person (making 1st person better) and I made it its own thread http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/160187-make-1st-person-less-clunky-remove-mouse-acceleration-deceleration-smoothing/ but I feel that it also belongs here Currently in DayZ when you move your mouse slowly it translates to fast movement on the screen but when you move your mouse fast or jerk it around it actually translates to slower panning than if you had made the same movement slowly. This is what I mean by wet raincoat textures Only that it would be dynamic with raindrops splashing on it, running down, raindrops joining, whatever. + refraction effects for the droplets.

The M4 sound is very bad, along with the ballistics
franzuu replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
I don't think they redid the m4 sounds, they hired their sound guy after making the m4. He worked on the mosin and the mosin sounds good. Also, check the the first suggestion thread in my sig. -
The RV engine is the worst engine ever made.
franzuu replied to EchelonEffect's topic in General Discussion
At least 636,456 copies sold as of writing this. Perhaps this will speed up some parts of the development and maybe things like replacing the rendering engine will be pushed forward.
