I for one would like to see the introduction of illegal drugs... like LSD... hmmm is that zombie real? or am I just trippin' balls?! lol then again all the "zombies" are just people on bath salts. They need rehab, not a bullet to the dome.

I agree, if you are one of the people that think that side chat is too unrealistic, keep this in mind. 1) Dehydrating while standing in the middle of a pond just because you don't have a canteen is unrealistic. 2) Viewing yourself in 3rd person and having a crosshair showing you where your gun is pointed is unrealistic, unless you are on copious amounts of hallucinogenics. 3) Not being able to use empty cans or whiskey bottles to carry/drink water is unrealistic. 4) Curing a broken bone in minutes with morphine is unrealistic. the list goes on and on... so whats the harm in side chat? maybe make it where its disabled on vet servers, or an option of the server admin? I get lonely in the woods and wouldn't mind some chat to help the time pass.

I havent died yet, but only because I am good at running like a coward, I am down to 5000 blood because I had to jump off a balcony in some wherehouse... didnt even get a chance to grab gear lol... I have found swimming is an easy way to avoid the zombies but really slow... can they swim? My pack hasnt fallen off while swimming, but then again, its empty.

Well, I am calling it quits for now, I need to get some sleep. My night ended with yet another mass murder via teleport hack. What sucks is the only thing to have killed me so far is hackers and one sniper... a couple zombies got a hold of me and drained me down to 500 blood and I was able to make it away... granted I kept passing out while looking for food and then a hacker killed me lol. what can be done to ensure all your stuff isnt lost when you die? do you have to store it in a tent? or can you just drop a bunch of stuff on the ground in the woods and it will be there when you go back, assuming no one else finds it.

I was going to take a screenshot to put on here, but for whatever reason a standard print screen isnt capturing the game, it captures the window behind it (google chrome). whatever, it looks ok on normal with tweeked settings, on low is "ok" but dont expect it to be MW3 on your xBox quality :P

I have an HP Laptop with an Intel I7 CPU and 16Gb RAM, but the graphics chip on it is utter crap for gaming. I can run the game on low and normal settings after tweeking a few of the advanced settings. It doesnt look good, but it does the trick.

Found an MP5A5 and AK-74U and some mags in a deer blind, now I don't feel so bad about being loaded up with that gear... though, my AS50 disappeared when I logged out then into a dif server, whatevs I don't need to be ringing a dinner bell for every zombie within a mile of me when I snipe.

I am totally having fun with it now that I learned that people are worse than zombies and its best to keep my distance from either... I just chill in the woods running around like some kinda tree hugger making quick dashes into small villages when I see there arent many zombies around the buildings closest to the tree line.

so far this is pretty awesome... pretty lonely too though lol. So I have been running through the woods like a meth head on bath salts and came up on a small farming community... found me a dbl barrel shotgun and rolled out... saw some guy riding a bicycle through an open field, and I was almost fully dehydrated so I took a long shot at him and missed and decided it wasnt worth wasting any more ammo on. Rolled up on another small villiage and found me an enfield and some other supplies, still no canteen or soda cans. so I headed back off into the woods and found some pond with park benches next to it, I go up to it and try to drink straight from the pond with middle mouse button and nothing happens. I start pressting buttons and I press the change weapon key, and a 1911 comes up and my pack changes... wtf... switch back and my primary is now a silenced M4 with an acog... major WTF!? I look in my pack and I am all loaded up with good stuff, even have an AS50 in the pack... I dont know if this is a glitch or if a hacker loaded me up... I'm not gonna complain about it since I will probably die soon and lose it all anyway lol

Just so I have this straight... when on "direct communication" you press / and type what you want to say? cause I just ran into a guy in the woods and he wouldnt say anything back... he just kept his gun on me and wouldn't let me come close lol... he kept running off... gun must have been empty lol... Whats the key for voice chat? I dont see that in my options menu

I just joined a new server and almost immediately got aggro, I booked it to the forest and lost the zombies by doing the walking uphill trick, now I am off in the forest with no gear lol... I need to find a deer blind or something

lol, I go to the rooftops to get a break from the zombies... is there a way to tell if a house will have doors that open or not before you crawl 8 miles through zombie infested fields... its such a let down to pick a target house, work your way to it, and then you cant open the doors.

ack... got a Makarov, had like 5 mags, got an (empty) canteen, I was moving up in the world, until I got sniped... the dead bodies I found on the roof and was looking to loot should have tipped me off to a sniper.

Well, I managed to get in a house and got a hatchet and some scrap metal... hoorah, got a way to bust heads... but I really needed water and food so I crossed the street and went up some lookout tower hoping to find a rifle, didnt find one, so I got on the room of the big building, and realized it was getting dark and zombies were all over... and then everyone in the server got teleported to some place and the guy lit us up with some machine gun.... lame ass hackers lol, oh well, just means I have full health and am no longer dehydrated lol

I have been reading, lurking and watching videos about Day Z for a good 2 days now and I think I want to try it... the only issue is, that my gaming worth PC had the video card die in it so I put in a crap one and made it a backup and dev server for my business. so now I do everything on my laptop (HP dv7-6c95dx with 16gb ram). Since I didn't want to waste the money on something that runs like crap on my laptop I downloaded Arma2 Free from steam and did the boot camp. in "normal" graphics stuff seems a bit blurry and when you move or turn there is a bit of motion blue and feels like delay.... its almost as if your character is drunk lol. so when I put it in low quality it looks well, like crap, but is playable for sure. I was just wondering if anyone out there playes DayZ in Low Quality and what kind of experience could be expected... I assume finding items and players hiding in bushes will be that much harder without a crisp clear image. Also before I pull the trigger on the game, I had some questions. People talk about going server to server, so if all of your gear stored on a master database so you can take it to whatever server you join? or is it where your data just gets stored on whatever server you're on and when you move to a new server you have to start over? Also, if it is indeed done with a master database that stores everything regardless of server. what happens if you say set up a camp and have all your food and what not there, I am assuming that would just stay on that server as to prevent conflicts with a camp on some other server that may be set up in the same place? just kinda confused. Thanks for any answers. Also can anyone recommend a good newb friendly server I can hop on if I decide to get this going. lol I just realized I used the word also about 500 times, oh well.

Ok, well I got in game and checked it out... way harder than I thought it would be... I low crawled to some farm houses by my spawn, trying to avoid the friendly neighborhood zombies. as I got within about 50m of the fence surrounding the property I notice one staggering towards me... I tried to crawl out of its path but it seemed to be tracking me, so to speed things up I moved to a crouch and tried to get out of its way, at which time it started sprinting at me... so I go to a full stand and start sprinting off. I get on the road and sprint in hopes of someone seeing me and killing the now 4 or 5 zombies chasing me... I came up on some peninsula where the fence goes down to the water so I ran through the water and luckily the zombies went on the opposite side of the fence so I was able to get away and hide... just to have one far away spot me crouching and run at me... then the server dropped my session and here I am... ugh I need to find some buildings with no zombies around so I can get some way of defending myself... times like this a group of people would be awesome.

Yeah, I have watched a fair deal of newb training videos, so I am hopefully not going to just get raped by zombies over and over lol. but if I do, then I do lol.

Just Bought Arma2 Combined Ops on steam and am downloading it now. cant wait to go newb mode on some zombies

Your post has convinced me to buy Arma2 and play this mod.
