I saw a video where one of the launchers out there allows you to choose how many cores of the CPU you want to use? does DayZ commander do that? I would like to make sure I am running all 8 cores of my intel i7

Whats wrong with the launcher? if I launch from game or launch from launcher I see no difference, except six launcher gives more info about each server before you join...

Also I highly recomend doing the Arma2 boot camp so you get a feel for the game before being chased by zombies... otherwise you will die like 50 times trying to figure out how to crouch and go prone.

Buy Arma 2: Combined Ops off steam, download the six launcher/updated. it will install the mod for you, then you just join a server and play. If you buy from steam be sure to run ARMA2 and ARMA2 Op Arrowhead before installing and running DayZ. Good luck, keep your head down and your eyes open.

use the "." key to get on the direct communication chanel, then use the "/" key to type in what you say, only people close to you can see it, you can also hold down caps lock and voice chat if you have a mic. that or meet up with them here and chat on skype/ventrilo/teamspeak while playing.

@Lets be friends - After we logged last last I ended up getting back on and checked that barn out again, got a CZ Sniper with 10 rounds. I am gonna post up in a tree line somewhere and hopefully not suck as bad as those 2 snipers we ran into lol.

I dont know about you but I can sprint for over 30 seconds without falling on the ground like a bitch lol... and I am a smoker so my lungs are not the best. If I were being chased by zombies, I promise you I would run longer than 30 seconds lol... I dont think my legs would give out before I gave myself a heart attack haha

If you make Zombies harder, IE, they can attack you while chasing you, they can run in buildings, its harder to shake them off you in the woods... you will get players that bitch about them being too hard. no matter what you can never make everyone happy by making a change. as a new player (almost 3 days in) big groups of zombies are still kind of intimidating, but I am learning the tricks to getting by them unnoticed or shaking them off me when they give chase. often times I dont want to have a big shootout at the OK corral with 20 zombies, mainly because I want to conserve ammo, dont want to attract more of them, dont want to attract other players or maybe im just unarmed. Zombies are enough of a pain in the ass for newer players, making them harder would make the game that much harder on a new player when there is already a really steep learning curve. I for one like that they walk indoors because when if I am not perfectly lined up in the center of a doorway my character tends to have a panic attack or some crap and gets stuck trying to get out making me have to back up, realign and try again. what would probably be best, is to have a type of unseen leveling system, where when zombies target you they can see what level you are and adjust their tactics accordingly, dumb zombies for newbs, hard zombies for vets. thats my $0.02

Me and another guy teamed up and communicated via skype while playing. Died a couple times getting to each other and finally had some good luck and got some good loot. once thing I couldnt figure out, is in the forest I cut some wood, make a fireplace and lit the fire... it would burn then go out in like 5 seconds and not let me cook meat... what the heck?

that would explain the lack of zombies I see in the woods lol...

on my first day I found a makarov and a double barrel shotty with slugs... then a hacker joined the server and loaded me and everyone else up with class A gear, silenced M4 with ACOG, AS50 in my alice pack, etc etc. I think he forgot to teleport me to thunderdome though, unless he was just a nice hacker lol. So I ran around in the forest with my M4 killing shit as I found it. then got sniped, no more silenced M4 :( but today (my second day) I teamed up with a guy and we got in a good groove, found me a winchester and a bunch of other stuff. This game is so fun, I cant understand how people bitch about it being too hard and/or boring.

Hmmm, cant remember if it was raining. I am assuming a fire will aggro the crap out of zombies... but if you are in a forest and there aren't any around you should be fine right?

So I log in, luckily the hacker killing me last night didnt make me lose all my gear because I logged out right after... but low and behold my hydration is red. for the life of me I cant find any water sources, or cans of coke. So I stupidly head to cherno because now I am dehydrating and my blood is so low everything is black and white.after checking like 5 houses and being disappointed I finally find a can of coke, hooray no more dehydration.... but my vision is still B&W because I have 3k blood. So, me being the forest dweller that I am I stupidly bolt straight for the tree line thinking I will kill me some food, I make it in and assume I'm safe.... NOPE! some A-Hole saw me and chased me down, killed me in one shot so I didn't even get a chance to return fire, not that it would have helped me any though, with B&W vision picking out targets is a P.I.T.A. Time to start over, anyone have any tips on where to locate water sources? I see wells frequently but never see the pumps. lol one time when I was almost dead I mistook an axe in a stump for a pump... took me a good 15 sec to figure it out lol.

I am looking to group up with some (mature) people to take some of the loneliness out of the game, I have ventrilo and am downloading TS. I am in the US as well.
