To clarify, my long winded reply was for that "first contact" feeling, a place for players to interact without being jack moved by some dick weed with a makarov

What would be awesome is a few safe NPC guarded spawn zones... you know, like megaton in fallout 3... in fallout you can go apeshit crazy in town and the NPC's will hunt you down, maybe have it similar, or just have a law that must be followed, and no shooting in town permitted. the perfect spot for one of these newb towns would be smack dab inbetween cherno and elektro, like by Cap Golova. This way newbies can venture out to elektro or cherno on quests the NPC's send them on, players can meet up and trade items etc. Hell you could even have NPC sentries that roam the highways and go into cherno/elektro then turn around and come back, they could kill any zombies in their path, and if they see a player attack another player they could step in too. Newbies on quests or needing gear could tag along with these sentries and follow them into the city and then split away into the city to get what they need and hopefully get back before the sentries turn around and leave them alone in the city. a central hub is definitely something missing in the game, humans have strength in numbers and if a zombie apocalypse happened you could guarantee that these hubs would be formed eventually.

Try turning 3d resolution down to 50%, post processing and anti aliasing off

if you are in the one location and hopping from server to server and no one has been in that area for a while it decreases your chances of items spawning compared to if you travel to that location. I have found when I log out in a good loot spot then log back in later on a server with not a lot of people, often times the spot will have no loot until I run off and loot stuff further away then come back. I have no hard evidence, but I think its to somewhat thwart people that server hop to cherry pick loot at the good places. not 100% sure though, just a hunch.

Run DxDiag on your computer and compare your full system report to the system requirements of the game... or... a better judgement would be to download Arma 2 Free, and run that. if your computer runs Arma2 Free to acceptable standards for you, then you shouldnt have a problem with DayZ. http://www.arma2.com/free/

Obviously there's nothing you can really do to prevent hackers killing you, but you practice in the armory so that you don't kill your entire team, thus its not all that different at all with the exception of no chance for lag.

You will want to meet someone on the forums and work out the details with them over Skype, Vent or TS... running up to a random player in game will end up with you getting killed 9 times out of 10.

Sounds like you just have bad luck, find a night time server that has a full moon so you can see, or put those flares to use. pop a flar in the middle of the street in a big city, zombies and bandits will be attracted to it naturally so stay outside the light range as much as possible. chem lights are nice for looting inside dark buildings.

I paid $800 and some odd dollars (USD) for my 17" HP Dv7 that came with and intel i7 CPU and 8GB RAM, I upped the ram to 16GB for another $150 from newegg. it runs on normal settings just fine. so in short, yeah dont get that laptop.

People always saying flying the Heli's is a pain in the ass on videos and such... They fly just like a real heli would, I used to fly RC Heli's a bunch so picking up and flying the heli in the Armory was a cake walk. Now if only I could find/fix me a heli in DayZ, I'd be pimpin' that bitch all over the place.

Auto Hover is cheating :P I need to unlock the huey so I can practice with it in the armory... Been using the Mi-8 and doing simulation raids on cherno, coming in hot, stopping at a roof to to "unload or load up" raiders etc.

lol, the armory is fun as a Mofo, I took the Mi-8 out for a spin around chernarus. did a few low altitude high speed passes of cherno then decided to take the heli under this cross beam pictured here... Now I really want to get me a heli in dayZ lol
