sooooo gay.... so after I got the AK and ran off, the server apparently restarted cause I lost connection. Connected right back to that server so that if I lost the AK due to no-save I could go and grab it back... well when I log back in before I even finish loading I see a message saying I was killed, then spawned in wilderness, and its pitch black out.... WTF! its shit like this that irritates me at times, when you put in a good 4 hours of running around like daniel boone out in BFE then some glitch robs you of it. hackers I can understand, pvp I can understand... the off chance zombies get me I can understand... but stuff with no explanation at all just irks the crap out of me.

they were artifacting way too much even after flushing gfx. Got my AK now though, just logged into some random server and found a couple tents a few hundred M away from an empty deer stand, looked in the tents and found an AK74 and 4 mags :)

Seriously, I usually find an AK in deer stands quickly, they are my go-to hot spots for an automatic rifle as a new spawn since they are safe and secluded generally.

I find death as a relief... once I die and lose my gear, I am no longer in fear of losing my nice gear. plus it is fun to run around the newb towns regearing.

Moved my old desktop from my office back into the bedroom and tossed win 7 on it. Downloading Arma2:CO from steam right now to see if I can run DayZ on it. Win 7 Pro 64Bit Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 2x2.7GHz CPU 4GB Ram Nvidia GeForce 8400GS 2GB RAM Will most likely run DayZ much worse than my laptop, but I wanted to give it a try before making it a dedicated Linux Server (Had MS SBS2008 on it before running vmware virtualized servers for testing my dev projects) who knows, this desktop has been a faithful work horse for like 6 years now... maybe I will get better performance than my laptop (lol yeah right)

heh, it actually plays it fine on settings between low and normal.

I havent played much of the game outside of the mod, but from what I have played it is OK. I am not huge into mil-sim games though. I feel I have gotten my moneys worth out of the $30 I paid via steam just to play DayZ, and thats including the bugs and hackers I have run into. If you are expecting a flawless game experience with no heart crushing bugs causing you to lose items, annoying graphics glitches in certain areas, or if hackers drive you insane.... then this isnt the game for you. If you are willing to look past the imperfections and dont take it too seriously when another player kills you, then I would recommend giving it a try. it is truly a fun game even with all of its faults.

When that happens to me I just try another server... not sure why it does that some times, other than maybe the servers ping sucks and was cached in your launcher showing a good ping?

usually snipers on low pop servers aren't all that experienced either, that or they are on their "home server" re gearing or playing with clan members. generally snipers like to kill players (duh) and have a much better chance at seeing players on mid to high pop servers. if you get shot at by a sniper on a low pop server you can usually run away performing a serpentine maneuver and you're good.

Epic vid with a well placed song... "hackers" (Script kiddies using the hacks, not writing them) generally suck ass at the game, which is why they hack to begin with.

The torque 3d engine is good for that, ~$180 for a license, but after that you don't have to pay them a cent in royalties unlike UDK. I actually have a license for T3D with my business partner to work on "a lil somethin' somethin'" lol. But that's just a side project as Game dev is such a hard market to make a decent buck in,

What do you guys use? I wam sick of Windows Live Movie Maker's limitations, I dont have the time nor patience to learn Adobe Premier/After Effects, and I would prefer to not move the video files over to my mac anyway, I would just assume use iMovie at that point. Soooo.... I am wondering if any of you can recomend a free/cheap video editing suite that is as easy or easier than Movie Maker/iMovie but has slightly more or better features. Features for manipulating soundtracks would be nice also, but not really needed as Adobe Audition is easy enough to use to do what I need.
