I filed a bug report on this a year ago, (5sec freeze then 5fps and very low textures/models) Still no response or fix. It's happening on DayZ mod now. Also i get memory errors when i have 2gb more than minimum spec, my ram is tested so it must be a memory leak in the code. Are they purposely ignoring it and just expecting everyone to upgrade to 64bit windows?

I get the same problem using 32 bit windows, game freeze, textures drop, no building interiors, low fps. I've seen the texture drop before on arma2 wasteland which i'm guessing was from low memory. DayZ needs to be on 64bit OS to progress no doubt, yet i feel misled as there was no warning of future spec requirements. Am i expected to buy another decent computer 5 years from now to play the final game?

Should hopper zombies be removed for now before the next stable patch?

Why did they even waste time adding the hopper zombie if they admitted the AI is utter tosh and needs re-writing from scratch. Was that merely a ruse and we just have to get used to deans mo-capped laughing stock. Personally i think getting zombies to follow a Navmesh is about the limits of these devs brains. -
Lets have a Mr Burns type and maybe a Fat Albert. Oh and what about Putin were you spawn in a bunker. Also im very dismayed that the little horror himself Justin Bieber hasnt been added to the zombie roster.

For a supposedly authentic experience. Gaining the status of starving to death after running 1km, and subsequently dying from starvation after another 1km is ludicrous. People have survived over 100 days without food (see Poon Lim), and 3 days without water.

DayZ doesnt have zombies. What dayz has is an infection on a high percentage of living humans only. Causing them to know only rage and a hunger for the non-infected humans. Yet somehow maintain the motor capability to run at full speed. It's a blatant copy of the danny boyle movie 28 days later, which made no sense to me yet was quite entertaining on behalf of robert carlises performance. If the devs insist on calling them zombies, then they should follow on from the creator of zombies. Namely George Romero, and have them stumble toward you like they do indoors on DayZ mod. The obvious problem with this in a game, is creating the numerous hordes on screen to actually make it challenging. Pretty much improbable to create in an online game at this stage in home computer technology, without procedural algorithms and a real-time animation engine. I keep my algorithms for my own homebrew projects or big companies would exploit them for their own ends. Just as companies are withholding their own bought or sometimes in-house engines for themselves. i will do the same. So back on topic, respect the creator of zombies and don't try to rubbish his legacy for your own ends. This is not an attack on DayZ as it pushes many boundaries in gaming today. More a general disrespect within the media industries of a lone man and his vision.

I'd love some random instancing, In the sense of your thrown into an fight or situation randomly, Yet with the game having a lot of variables already, like looting and killing taking up your time. These instances should be very infrequent, so as not to become staid or detract from the core experience. We cant have questing out from a safe zone like Guildwars, or the WoW raid gather setup, as people would be trolled outside the raid skyscraper or wherever. All i can see along that line is, you find a clue to the random location of an instance entrance or area. Which would eliminate campers and provide some orienteering.

A cliched dilapidated mansion on a hill at the end of a snaking path, lit by lightning. Or just the cabin from Amityville or The evil dead so i can troll people from the basement.

They seem to be adding plenty of dice rolls already to the the game. Yet dice rolls without modifiers are cheap. So lighting a fire with a flare would have to take into account if its raining and if you need painkillers for your shaky hands and so on. The key to any dice roll is you never know its there, as predicting the mechanics of a game lessens the thrill. -
I'd like to play poker for bullets. Or even a game of football with a zombie head.

I don't know if i like the vicinity thing, surely you don't just hit the gear button all the time to see if there's anything to pick up. Also someone mentioned a jumping attack, when i thought the zombies were getting slowed down. I don't really want to play "28 DayZ later". -
I hope you've got DayZ banners for outside were the TV cameras show the queue, and a horde of zombies wandering round the place. Without a big booth it's a good way to make an impact. But then i don't know any gamers in the dark on this.

Imagine opening a house door and the owners starved/infected dog bursts out, or you enter a room with a zombie on a chair who wakes up when you get close. Maybe you see a zombie with chicken feathers in his mouth, or one stuck on barbed wire. What about a zed that's in chains way up north in a field, as a kind of scarecrow. What i'd really like is to find a squad of secret service zombies tucked away somewhere with sweet loot drops. If there was a variety of events like these i think it would keep looting fresh and spawn great tales. So player on player interactions are currently, shooting each other, talking, saluting, nicking things from unsuspecting backpacks or providing items like "Hey i got this wheel for the car you just trashed. You got toolbox right?" /facepalm. Great as they are an MMO needs emotes, taunts, team moves like peg ups to get over walls, maybe throwing ammo to each other. Even death could be cool, falling to your knees like in Platoon.

Funny how people are upset by thinking its over delayed. Video games usually have an 18 month production schedule and this has been about half a year in the making. "oh but they had the arma2 engine already" yeah and so does everyone who made a game with the unreal engine, and they still take 18 months about it. Just be lucky they dont have some braggart producer pulling dean in endless meetings to tell him about his jetski antics at the weekend. -
Watching a zombie flailing around trying to catch a chicken would be cool or one with feathers in his mouth. Yet in a believable way all the animals would disperse from a horde of running zeds, maybe one cow would get mauled. So your gonna end up with them all in the woods, zeds included. After server starts it would be a bit nuts with migrating zeds everywhere. I want it though, oh yes!

ARMA3 is gonna be open to hacks like ARMA2 is, I'm getting standalone as player actions are decided by the server on that.
