What's your opinion on the 1.7.7 patch? (POLL)
Lidskjalf replied to DayzForumer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't mind the new patch, but it seems that the infection rates are excessive. It might be because of the horrible pathing the zed's have, but its chances are too frequent... Now there really is no need to worry about carrying morphine, because the chances are substantially low... Which that used to be your biggest worry when facing infected. I do understand the idea of trying to make people think twice before running into towns - it works - but the infection rate combined with the zed's "lazor eyesight and hearing" makes it hellish when you obtain aggro... And don't even try to fire any un-silenced weapons unless you have the ammo to pump a dozen zed's down. Also, the loot tables seem fucked. I've been to multiple public hives updated with the patch, and have walked into different towns like Polana & Berezino finding absolutely no loot... Not even junk loot either. Tried to re-log away from the town, enter and once again - nothing. And it seems like I am not the only one experiencing the extreme rarity of even the simplest junk loot found before the patch. Yes I do understand that scavenging should be harder but it seems like its went to the complete opposite side of the spectrum. Turn down the infection rates - make them equivalent to broken bones and tweak medical spawns just a tad IMO ^_^ -

Buy Arma2 set or wait for the standalone?
Lidskjalf replied to switchblade10's topic in New Player Discussion
Well try it out first - and if you like it, buy it. It'll be supporting the DayZ team into putting more time and energy into the official release. -
The canteen-use-only-once is definitely an issue. You should have more than just one drink out of a canteen - it defeats the purpose of having one. Why waste your inventory slots when you can find sodas very easily? Since they are looking into a "crafting tree" if you want to call it that, they should give benefits to hunter & gatherers that are out in the wilderness killing game. Allow those who skin regularly, be able to get a passive perk where there character can get more meat off of animals (especially cows - common, only 6 meats per?! Wtf?! :P ). I do think that even medical supplies (i.e. bandages) should have stacks of say 5 or 10 per slot, because honestly a single bandage should NOT take as much space in your inventory as a G17 clip. I am really excited to see how the SA turns out. Cheers, Lidskjalf :beans:

Body types, Food Benefits! (For DayZ Standalone)
Lidskjalf replied to Corporate's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah no kidding... Lmao @Edit  You can has my beans :beans: -
Matman is fatman... :] The only thing I disagree with is the skins - its either that or the face (mask) identity system that was suggested on this forum. You have to balance realism with gameplay in some circumstances, because people playing a video game will never act the same as they would IRL. And that we all know, every thing we do in this life HAS consequences - whereas video games have to have some kind of system that penalizes people for being murderers... In some shape or form. Hence, bandit & hero skins. Now I know that the skins do not always dictate how people are going to interact with another player in DayZ. I have been killed by hero bandits before, yes - but atleast the mod as some kind of identification system since there are no other forms of communication - unless the server has sidechat, which that doesn't help sometimes either. But I do believe that there should be penalties to the fags who just wanna shoot people with no remorse - there should be reprocautions to your actions. And also about third person... Who cares? Its a game bro, I don't think everyone on here wants it to be ONLY 1st person... Or atleast I don't :()

I don't understand the logic behind this. If you or your friends don't own a PC to play DayZ then I say tough luck. This franchise would go in the shitter if they cross platformed. Once again, there are so many things they would have to do to implement DayZ for consoles, it wouldn't be worth it. So in otherwords, FUCK CONSOLES.

How customizable should clothing/character customization be?
Lidskjalf replied to carbine781 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah exactly. What I would love to see is discoverable clip pouches (only for military vests), bandoliers and scabbards for shotgun junkies (Mad Max style :D), different camo varients (with fucking sleaves), etc. As for the helmets, yeah it is going to look weird people running around with motorcross helms, but there should be those options available. Its definitely something we as the community have to test when the SA launches. Cheers, Lidskjalf :beans: -
Minimum GFX settings PLEASE! - FAO Rocket

No. No consoles tyvm. -
I agree 100%.

Well it is obvious that the mod is flawed as in loot table regards. It would be a different story if you didn't see them as often - again, I did state that I would like them to be removed, but I wouldn't be opposed to lowering the loot threshold per server. And it would only make sense that people would see the lower caliber snipers more frequently than the .50's. I am very excited to see what they will come up with in the SA. Cheers, Lidskjalf :beans:

Yeah and how many people have the ability to repair or even fly one on this forum? Very very few. This is my reasoning behind removing them - not only that but its just too easy to fly around and get to destinations VS using land or water vehicles. Since the mod only uses tents for base building, its pretty easy for people to fly around and spot tents & stashed vehicles people try to hide. I've done it personally, its way too easy. With the limited under brush of the forests & miles of fields in chernarus, I just feel that heli's place a huge advantage over everything else (nevermind the M249's on the sides). So again I ask, how many people in RL have the knowledge to fix a chopper & be able to fly it. Very few. If they are really dead set on keeping them in, I say atleast make it DAMN hard to find the parts to fix it, and make those who have the mechanic skills in the SA have to spend countless hours repairing other vehicles before you can attempt to start repairing a helicopter. So then not every n00b who finds a heli, rotors and a toolbox can just throw it all together and start flying. Agreed lol.

"Realistic" Fishing in the Standalone
Lidskjalf replied to Chaingunfighter's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is something they definitely need to try implementing! B) Cheers, Lidskjalf :beans: -
No kidding, get your head out of your ass. I just don't think that logically in a Zombie Apocalypse people would be flying fucking choppers (or even repairing them for that matter) OR sniping people in the cities for absolutely no reason. The whole problem with the mod in my mind, is that the people that are KoS, bandit mentality is that they suffer no consequences for their actions. Which is why, if you ask anyone who has tried DayZ, has quit because of inept ass clown 50 snipers camping the hills. So don't tell me that I need to "GEHT BEHDR" because its obviousness is absurd - I am not the only one who sees that snipers are a prominent problem in the mod as it stands.

Pay a development company to make DAYZ

No shit! What a moronic thread, this is probably one of the only games out there that has serious potential. Corporate stooges are the whole problem with the video game industry. -
Pay a development company to make DAYZ
Lidskjalf replied to dashx73 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Lol, no. Just no, fuck console gaming. -
My apologies, I should of mentioned at the beginning of this thread how not one person (if you're striving for realism) would dedicate their "live" to running around with a ghillie suit & an AS50, firing at other survivors in a Zombie Apocalypse. I am sorry, but I don't see ANY logical explanation for them to be implemented in the stand alone. I do agree that they should have the CZ or some kind of bolt action hunting rifle that you can find - but a .50 cal? The military weapons are WAY too common. It seems to me that the real criers are ones like you that are going to complain about not having snipers in the Alpha stage. Oh how it will be glorious! :D :D

Exactly.

You sir, can have my beans - lol! :beans: I thought this would be a suitable picture reply lmao

Lol, I wouldn't mind having this in SA... Although I've never really had a problem without it. B)

Perma-identity. Nickname is permanent. Nickname as face. Cover face - conceal nickname.
Lidskjalf replied to DZR_Mikhail's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Definitely disagree with this point. I understand that yes, logically IRL you wouldn't know who is in your "Zone" per say but... it seems unnecessary in terms of gameplay, and I don't see how its negative. If anything its informative because once you know who is a bandit, you know that hes online - thats it. Just because you see someones name on the server list doesn't mean more greifing. In my experience with private/public hives, I have had no problem identifying who was friendly just because of sidechat - this alone was atleast enough for my friends & I to identify who was being suspicious & who was not... Who was trying to bait noobies for the easy kills, etc. I think some form of sidechat should be a must. I absolutely do agree on stopping name changing. If you wanna be a douche fine, but your identity stays with your name. Awesome!  I do see where you are coming from with the mask identity idea, but having nameplates in the SA (seeing as how terribly OP it is in the mod, especially when you can just scan the horizon and see their name pop up) wouldn't be something I'd suggest. If this feature was implemented, they would definitely have to address obstructions of sight such as shadows, walls, grass - any material that would obstruct a persons vision to clearly see someones face. You shouldn't have the ability to see someone 300m away from you (even in broad daylight) and clearly identify their face without say binoc's, hence it only be a short range method of identification. Then obviously at night, masks would not play as much of a huge role unless the player exposes him/herself to light in front of others. With that and the combination of multiple clothing options, should make forms of identification between players relatively... easy  Definitely like the idea though. Cheers, Lidskjalf :beans: -
Yeah, fuck snipers. They are for faggots that don't have the skill to fight head on with someone. PERMABAN NIPERS! :D

Please, moar water traffic! I suggest that boats on the Stand Alone should be used more! Please, I think that everybody can agree that the 4 hour run through just fields eventually gets plain... It definately would help spice up the environment as well as giving "newbies" different routes to take. Please add moar River Systems so that water travel is somewhat convenient for people who find say small fishing boats or military dingies. More traffic on water = a variety of routes within the environment which can lead into different scenarios/encounters with other players. Just don't add in military boats with M60's, I just would like to see more travel on water for not only myself, but other players! (Legit map hey heh?) :) Cheers! Lidskjalf :beans:
