Greetings This is a brand new server that was just brought up and running by the people of NCK. Currently, we're probably the biggest bandit clan on the planet, but we have nobody to compete against on our server. So bring your DMR's and come on down to US 520 (173.208.85.82:2332). I like to think of myself as the heartless most evil bandit there is. Truth is, I can kill any player on any given day, hide the body and feel remorseless... but once in a while I think we all reach that point where you just can't bring yourself to shoot. I reached that point the other day.... I play on US 3480 (best server ever, bring friends) and was running around in game with 6 other people. So I'm rocking out with my AS50, a couple grenades and a whole buncha lets go shoot somebody running through my veins. I'm bopping along happily between Cherno and Elektro and what do I see in the distance *GASP* a helicopter! Then I see sidechat lighting up with: James: I got the Windscreen glass. Toby: I got a main rotor. John: YES!! ENGINE PARTS!! Bill: I can't find any jerry's Suave: I got the jerry cans bil.... find some scrap metal. The stark realization that I am LITERALLY the only person on the server NOT repairing the chopper hit me like a ton of bricks (pun intended). So, given that it was sitting almost directly under peak and across from the lighthouse of doom... I chose to get into the lighthouse with the intention of ending their little game of "get to the choppa." These guys puttered around looking for parts for this thing for what must have been an hour while I patiently sat waiting for the five of them to all be in the same place at the same time so I could invariably end them. I mean, that's what you get for using sidechat and practically giving me five murders right? So I literally watch them... AS50 sighted in for five hundred meters waiting for them to all get around the chopper. Then I felt it.... a twinge -- a nagging feeling of impending guilt that is often associated with doing something scuzzy. I mean, here I am, best sniper rifle in the game loaded to the tits, watching a buncha guys with hatchets and lee enfields just waiting for the right moment to shoot all of them and steal their now repaired chopper. I was going to waste these poor saps and they'd never stood a chance. Not only that, they'd have wasted about two hours of their lives fixing the super sized chopper... and then it happened. The guy put on his engine parts while all of his buddies were off finding parts, glitched into the damn chopper and passed out bleeding. I couldn't take it... I did what anybody with a heart would do... I ran in there and dragged his stupid body out from the chopper, bandaged him, morphined' him, put an epi in his backpack and ran to the top of peak. I sat and watched with some pride as they loaded up and prepared to fly off thinking... "wow... I helped make this happen and saved that guy and made sure they had fun playing DayZ. I think I might become a he..... fuck that..." Wish I could say I waited til all five were there and threw my grenade with precision and blew them all up... but alas... I just couldn't bring myself to do it. - Brick

So, I'm a bandit, but I'm one of those bandits who do things out of a sense of fun and hilarity. I've had two favourite situations thus far related to killing other players that I think are note worthy. Now sit back and relax... because this is going to be a long post. Best Kill Ever I found a dirtbike.... and then I found some random new spawn on the coast. I took him for a dirtbike ride up the side of a mountain. It was very exciting the view was amazing. I even managed to find the highest portion of the mountain and proceeded to hurl us off of it.... as we were plummeting down... I figured why ride this firey ball of death to my imminent demise and ejected. The other player didn't react fast enough. Somehow I survived with a broken leg meanwhile he blew up on my bike at the bottom of the hill. The Running Joke There's this kid... and god is he annoying. The type of kid that spams sidechat and you have to mute VON when he's on. Well... after running with him for half of a day I got sick... sick sick sick of his talking. So I shot him in the head with a 1911 saying it was an accident. Hid the body... whole 9 yards. After him spamming the living shit out of the server for a half hour... I decided I would offer to "drive him back to his body" being that it was an accident and all. I asked him to get on the main road near his spawn (Balota). As I drove down there sidechat was lighting up with "Hey.. who has the white car in elektro." Then it was "Hey... who has the white car in Cherno". Meanwhile the little shit was badmouthing everyone on the server... so naturally when I saw him on the road I gunned it and ran his ass over. The whole server started laughing in sidechat when his death message appeared. He then proceeded to call me all kinds of nasty names. So, I managed to track him down and dust him off in elektro while he was hiding in the bushes sniping with an Enfield.... I figured he'd had enough. Fast forward to the next day... and guess who is on running his lips again. So, I sequester the assistance of another member of the server and got him to tell that little pain in the ass that he's going to come pick him up in the car he found (naturally its my damn car and I'm driving). He accepts... so my new best friend tells him to get on the main road where he is...well you guys know where this is going. I hit him so hard his body flew into a barn.... started laughing and crashed my car on rubble. The server went crazy with "HOLY SHIT YOU GOT HIM WITH THAT AGAIN???? LAWLZ" About 2 minutes later I see the same kid running near elektro got out and shot him. I haven't seen him on the server since... but he has a l33t clan that is gunning for me. I'm scared...but I think I might be able to make it out of this alive. Too be Continued....

Your very much caught up in the semantics or wording and focusing on that. I remember when the DC shootings were occurring and everyone was calling them "snipers" despite the fact they were shooting from inside 200m. "Anti Material Rifle" is a classification given to higher calibre rifles that may be effective against vehicles. Does that mean that they no longer serve other purposes such as extreme range target shooting? No. That means they have another possible use, such as blowing out an engine on a Humvee. They are, in fact, still a sniper rifle. Carlos Hathcock, one of the best snipers in history, even used a mounted machine gun with a butterfly trigger and scope to engage targets at long range while in Vietnam. At that point even that weapon was being used in a sniping format. A .338 Lapua Magnum held the distance record for longest sniper shot... you can't say that because its higher calibre it is no longer a sniper rifle. For me, a sniper rifle is a rifle designed to be used at long distance. A Sniper Rifle is a rifle that is used by a Sniper that is also a rifle. For long range shooting it can be a Barrett M98 or M107...hell, If you made an accurized AKM with a 10 power scope threw some Ghillie mesh on it and shot people at 1000 meters would you still call it an assault rifle?

Any rifle or handgun or anything for that matter that I'd choose would have a few characteristics that would be pretty necessary. 1.) It works even if its dirty and grimey. 2.) The ammo is relatively easy to find. 3.) Its quiet. The best thing for dispatching zombies would probably be a 22LR with a home-made silencer.

Its pretty sad when I go through the list of banned players and recognize over half the names. Brutal. Hope someday admins are actually given tools to catch cheaters.

I would rather avoid specifics but since you're accusing me of cheating here goes. Your friend teleported to me and shot me with a g36 then reloaded his gun (misclick?) before I died. While he was reloading I went into his backpack, took out his gun and shot him with his own AS50 TWS. You then immediately said "BRICK HAD AN AS50 TWS" on sidechat before my death message even appeared meaning you were on Teamspeak. Much appreciation for the hackusation... but I've never cheated on this game unlike present company. Here's to Jimmy for believing in second chances, I think that speaks volumes to how nice he is. I'll see you on the server.... hopefully its legit from here on out.

So, now that you've come on here and lied saying you weren't doing anything wrong here's the true story: USMC Tom, FINNtoChill, Wolf and PLAYER 1 were all on a private teamspeak working together and cheating. They provided websites to hacking sites and were having a grand ol' time changing server times, scripting weapons, thunderdome, aircraft carriers, etc. etc. You are banned from the server for cheating, just like I told you would happen the night you were doing it. Don't come on here and whine afterward that you've been unjustly banned when you know fully well what you were doing and who you were associating with. I feel sorry for you that you lost your grandmother, and applaud your service in the marines but it has no bearing on your ill advised asshattery. You're a cheater, you got caught...move on.

Imagine DayZ without banditry or PVP aspects. I can't....

There are some individuals, such as myself, that were never given a chance in DayZ. I started playing well before humanity saved between lives and people spawned in with Makarov's. If you think that made for some interesting times, you're right. Most people never even got a Lee Enfield in those days, we all ran around shooting each other stealing beans. Then the day came that your humanity became permanent and I was gloriously endowed with -150,000 off the hop. I have been getting shot on sight ever since... so I did what people in my situation should do, I started shooting back and executing every single person I came across. I also got extremely good at it. Now, granted when I KO a regular on the server I play on (US 3480 FTW) there are some things I do not do. I do not loot the body, nor do I hide it... I look at it as a person I was competing against and I have a lot of respect for legitimate players on this game. I also generally do not camp players I've iced unless I'm sitting on a tall building in cherno wacking new people with a sniper rifle. I am a man of my word in-game as well... if I say I am going to help someone I truly mean it. I've racked up my fair share of bad juju, but I must say I play this game as a competitor trying to win and have fun along the way. I don't want to ruin other peoples experience by being a jack-off but I do want to compete against them.

I don't know if this was just a crazy run of great luck... or if there is a substantial cultural difference between EU and NA servers. Let me preface this with saying I am a bandit 99.99% of the time. I shoot people on sight, camp area's, hide in NWAF, above Elektro, and overall play this game as a competitor. I have NEVER once felt bad about how I played until I went on a French server about two days ago. I was running into Stary Sobor with an AK looking to loot the tents. As I am running up off in the distance I see two people running literally with me. I turn toward them (they are both standard hero skin) and they turn toward me. I raise my weapon... they both salute...and I hose them with 30 rounds of awesome. Run up.... loot their bodies and make my way to the supermarket. While in said supermarket along comes a hero....whom I shoot with my now procured DMR. He dies while screaming in direct. I find it kinda funny that I've now eliminated 3 people and walk toward NWAF. There is literally a plethora of targets running around up there. No word of a lie... there was six people all running around. I went to town like a man possessed shooting as many rounds as I could and then running like a mad man out of there. Then I noticed side chat: "Brick just killed me, I lost a char that I've had for a month and a half" "Yeah he's one of those NA dickheads who shoots first" "He just shot up NWAF, what a nob" I was shocked! I feel like I was in the twilight zone... friendly players in DayZ? WHAT? Is this truth or is this just insanity?

***UPDATE*** My intrepid friend was on the server yet again running with a few of the server regulars. Naturally he is now suspicious of everyone that offers him a ride and is continually hiding on top of things where I can't get at him like he's in the movie Tremors. My new bestest best friend ever from another clan told him he had a car and needed help at a helicopter... my now suspicious target said he could come pick him up at Balota airfield.... and with that I was off with my red car of doom in that direction. Un friggen fortunately that stupid car doesn't offroad faster than a person runs. I literally chased him up and down Balota with it pegged for five friggen minutes while he was staying just out of reach. I finally got frustrated, hopped out of the car, shot his leg... and THEN ran him over. Annoying kid hit by car count: 3

Went running toward Stary Sobor... met a hero at the supermarket. Hosed him.... he never even fired back a single bullet. He'd been alive for a month and a half (playing every day). Felt bad for that one.

I've been playing DayZ for a long time... this server has a very great / knowledgable guy running it. Here's hoping I see a few more people running around... god knows I need more targets to shoot at.

I'm happy that we actually have a log file that catches the 1% of hackers out there dumb enough to not disconnect from Battleye. But, I have NEVER been more frustrated administrating a server than I am administering a DayZ Server. Now, I know what every single person who reads this is going to say "Its only in Alpha".... you're right it is in Alpha. So here is what I want to see in Beta: A logfile that logs who killed who and how, and a logfile that logs the scripts that affect other players movements (teleporting and teleporting others). I really don't think that is an unrealistic thing to log.
