DayZ Standalone... over a year too late.
jBrick replied to jBrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In two years time my friend there won't be anything to come back too rather than empty servers. Put this on your prediction list. But when standalone drops everybody will buy it.. and after six months passes everybody who bought it initially will have stopped playing it. Standalone won't even live up to its own Alpha... -
DayZ Standalone... over a year too late.
jBrick replied to jBrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This isn't a jab at them at all. I know for a fact that many of them have idea's and have envisioned things for this game that they were instructed specifically not to. I really don't blame them in the least you can only do so much. -
DayZ Standalone... over a year too late.
jBrick replied to jBrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're right... it doesn't need to be what I envision it... but why recreate the same game? Why reinvent the wheel? If this game has hit its evolutionary pinnacle why not just box up alpha and release it as standalone and re-skin it.... oh wait... I think that's exactly what's coming. Tell me this though Rista... are you not sick of doing the same thing? Go north.. find gear... build a tent... put stuff in it... get bored... go to Elektro... shoot noobs... die... rinse & repeat. -

DayZ Standalone... over a year too late.
jBrick replied to jBrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Do you not admit to what I was exactly saying with this? DayZ Vanilla in its Alpha... the time when you test out new things... has not changed AT ALL since the release began with the exception of the crafting system. When you aren't willing to test and try out new things in an alpha what do you think the standalone is going to be? Do you HONESTLY think its going to be some vastly different experience with whole new base building mechanic's and clan based objectives? Or do you face the reality that it is simply reskinned two year old game.,,, I have watched every video Dean has released... -
DayZ Standalone... over a year too late.
jBrick replied to jBrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What's an Alpha? Is it not a test in order to design a game based around what works and what does not? You explain to me how the mechanics and idea's behind this game have changed and how alpha has tested anything rather than just bug elimination. The crafting system? I'm the one who is "confuzzled" because you're letting your loyalty blind yourself to reality. Standalone has missed the DayZ hype and has not changed enough to bring new hype in... I'm sorry if that comes off as harsh but sitting 2 years on an alpha rife with issues and seeing the reality of standalone isn't going to sell this game. I have not met another player who has been in here this long that is still playing DayZ Vanilla on public hive because it is now boring and uninteresting to consistently do the same thing and never advance in a game. -
DayZ Standalone... over a year too late.
jBrick replied to jBrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sitting stagnant is better than trying to evoke change? Since when? DayZ has not changed in 2 years.. the game has not evolved and there are clones that are identicle to it down to the look / backpack of the character. You can't say that this game has maintained your interest over two years with its consistent battery of unevolved idea's. -

I have worked with HFB for almost 3 months. I can't complain. They've done exactly what I've asked when I've asked it of them with the worst being on update days with is somewhat understandable.
-
Yeah... when they do the whole server crash for setpos #0 it shows up in createvehicle as "battlefield clearance".

setpos and kicking due to BattleFieldClearance
jBrick replied to geryon's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This seems to be targeting North American servers and specifically servers that are higher in population. Its almost as if there's a vested interest in it... -
Seeing how my opinion is so HIGHLY regarded amongst DayZ players (sarcasm) I figured I would write an unbiased review on the changes I've noticed in 1.7.7. I am a DayZ enthusiast so to speak, I've been around for over a year now and seen many changes to the game. All in all, this patch was fairly excellent. The Amazingly Good - The new Zombie AI is great, they move far more intuitively. - Wild spawning zombies are a great addition. I was sitting on sniper hill in elektro watching zombies milling around thinking there was a player in the city.... and there wasn't. GREAT job. - Removing the "i win" AS50 and M107's. - INFECTED CAMPS!!!!! Awesome! - Higher rate of infection from zombies... I love it. - Bandit Skin -- Need I say more? - The new script detection is off the charts. A LOT less hackers kicking around US 520 ATM... - No more LOOT cycling... DAMN RIGHT... this was ri-ri-ridiculous. I cannot comprehend the amount of complaining I've read on here. This is a ZOMBIE SURVIVAL GAME.... I think we've all forgotten about that big Z in DayZ. They were more of a nuisance prior to this patch because they had no way to kill an experienced player. Now, if you get hit ONCE you can get infected and die... and I must say I like that. Zombies should do more damage than they currently do... a player should die in around 7-8 hits in my opinion. The Almost Amazing - Military weapons are still very common, much more so than medical loot. - Lots of kicks for lots of scripts.... that probably shouldn't be kicks. - Maybe adding in antibiotics to the supermarket loot table. Lots of supermarkets have pharmacy's so its pretty realistic. Overall... I must say I am pretty content with the changes. - Brick

Bet you didn't.
-
Infection should have been in there from the beginning and it should have been caused at the rate it is now. Lets be honest, there were no repercussions to massing zombies chasing you previously.... now its quite the opposite. If you have a horde on your trail and need to weave around zombies... you may get a fatal infection. I like that. I like that zombies can be fatal rather than them being an annoying inconvenience. I think as a whole it makes low population servers more viable.
-
The bulk of what you've made mention of are things that were broken PRIOR to this patch. Although the new patch doesn't make DayZ a complete package it is a step in the right direction in gameplay. Obviously zombies are still walking through walls and docks are still projecting players into the air high enough to kill them -- This patch didn't fix those things. However, if you are to look at the changes made in comparison to the previous patch it looks rather well done. Truth is, some of the issues you bring up are actually related to the game engine and not the mod itself. And as for my troll attempt.... yours was much better.
-
Was wondering if anyone else experienced this on any other server? As of right now, I visited 5 crash sites on my server (US 520) and didn't find a single piece of anything on any of the crashes.
-
Its my server... and they are completely unedited. They aren't spawning in loot at all... I can confirm this. Disregard... they ARE spawning loot but they are significantly further away than usual.. and a lot less loot.
-
"This is down to server admins not updating their battleye scripts.txt file, this happens every patch, its the admins responsibility." Yeah the new scripts help a lot (obviously LoL) but there are lines that I've had to comment out in order to keep people from getting kicked. Script #200 for example to stop people from getting kicked for blowing up a vehicle.
-
There are always bugs and things that need to be ironed out... but the overall gameplay in this patch was a huge step in the right direction. I am now sneaking around cities and barns trying to avoid aggro'ing zombies.... before I just ran in looted and ran out. If this is the eventual principle behind what standalone is going to be based on... I'm excited.
-
LOL Oh My God... had to be the funniest shit I've ever seen. I love it completely... reminds me so much of the nintendo RPG games.

Question from Gaming magazine: Why is permadeath fascination
jBrick replied to Lord_Darkmoon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When there is no reward or punishment in a game... then there is no goal. I can honestly say the only games I take interest in are the ones that are "hardcore". Games in which death means restarting and is something you try HARD to avoid. Looking at games like Battlefield 3 (a comparitive of DayZ) I see absolutely no goals and people running around not caring if they die. I prefer killing people who put in their utmost effort and the only way to ensure that is to punish people for making mistakes severely. The greatest sense of competition comes from severe loss or severe gain.... and I must say that THIS is the only way to play. -

It was actually my error Jared. You spawned as a "seagull" so i copy and pasted your GUID in a search function. I then found said hacker and pasted your GUID in my bans.txt rather than the actual hacker. If you can give me your GUID I'll unban you immediately...and I apologize profusely.
