Camo clothes garbage?
DEOVONTAY MCSLANGA replied to Theplanbpill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You ask for constructive criticism, then respond with nothing but rage to people who eloquently explain why things are the way they are, and the fact that you apparently can't draw the parallels between certain concepts of MMO design and this game only further displays your ignorance. Based on your reactions to anyone who hasn't flat out agreed with you, this post is nothing more than you grand-standing and begging people to stroke your ego by telling you how awesome your idea is. First, the AS50 is better in nearly every single situation than the DMR. It is a 1 shot kill at any range, unlike the DMR which requires 3 and sometimes even 4 shots to kill. This allows the victim of your DMR to alt-f4 if you're firing beyond about 300 meters. Within that distance, granted, you might be able to land 3 hits before they can react, but at a longer distance you often have to wait a second for recoil and passive sway to calm down before firing accurately again. This also brings up the fact that although the DMR has a larger magazine, unless you're getting 100% headshots the AS50 has more potential kills per mag. Even landing 100% of your shots the DMR can kill 6 people per clip; the AS50 can kill 10 (loaded with M107 of course; the AS50 mags are for vehicles, not people). This brings up another point in that the DMR is fairly weak against most vehicles, while the AS50 when loaded with NATO rounds can one shot just about any vehicle in the game. Yep, helicopters too. The AS50 also has an extended zoom range, and can be manually zeroed. The DMR has no manual zero, and therefore is only effective if the shooter is extremely skilled at judging range or is within about 300 meters where the sight is naturally zeroed. The one and only situation the DMR has an advantage in is during night time combat with NVGs. The DMR is the only sniper rifle you can use NVGs and the scope with. Even this meager advantage assumes that you have an item (NVG) that is incredibly more rare than the DMR itself, and that you're not playing on a server with crosshairs. A skilled player can use the crosshairs with the AS50 to take out a target at 300-500m, allowing it to be used at night with NVGs anyway. Second, this game does share many design concepts with standard MMO gameplay. Granted, there are no quests and you don't "level up" (debatable, as acquiring toolbelt items and a better backpack could be seen as incremental improvements to your character), but the most important aspects of this game are decidedly MMO in nature: loot and open world pvp. What is the ultimate goal of DayZ? For most people, it's simply to acquire better loot. What is the ultimate goal of an MMO? The same. Aspects such as rarity versus quality (the EXACT THING YOU'RE DEBATING HERE), placing loot in harder to get to (read; "higher level") zones, these are absolutely MMO concepts being applied in DayZ. And for those of you who answered "nuh uh, my only goal is to fuck with people!" congratulations, that's open world pvp in a nutshell, and yeah MMOs invented that shit. See, that's how you debate child. You take the idea someone else had, analyze it, and then create a coherent response based on logical points that either agrees with or disagrees with their idea. Simply calling everyone who disagrees with you stupid and yelling "NO I'M RIGHT SERIOUSLY GUYS" isn't a debate, that's a temper tantrum. -
All my games suddenly FPS drop, any help?
DEOVONTAY MCSLANGA replied to Gh0st93's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Some games do legitimately have problems with memory leaks regarding RAM. For example, playing Tera Online I start with 60 frames, and slowly dwindle down to 20 at which point I have to close and relaunch the game and it's fixed. I sometimes have the same problem with DayZ, after playing for a few hours at a time frames start to drop for no identifiable reason, and it's fixed after relaunching. This could also be caused by just having shitty old ram, so you could consider buying some new sticks. It's also worth noting that there are quite a few servers that just inherently have shitbad frames for me. When looking for a new server with friends we'll often go through several servers before finding one that's playable. Not sure what causes this, I would assume something along the lines of excessive tent duping or something a hacker did. Do you always play on the same server/is the problem always just as bad on every server you play? -

I don't think you understand the concept of tiering. See, basically things are categorized into "Good" "Better" and "Best". Or sometimes "Shit" "Not Shit" "Best!" For example, with sniper rifles: CZ550 - "Good" DMR - "Better" AS50 - "Best" The purpose is that some things are better than others. Because the CZ550 has a shitty scope crosshairs and does roughly the same damage as the DMR at a lower rate of fire, it's not as good. The DMR doesn't have a zero, and isn't as powerful as the AS50, so it isn't as good. In your little world, all items should serve a special and unique purpose. While this makes sense in a normal shooter for balancing issues (like in CoD, in a perfect world all the guns would be equally good and have a purpose) it makes absolutely no sense in an MMO setting, which this game is at it's very core. I kind of get the feeling that you're just sad that you found camo clothing ("Better" tier) instead of a ghillie ("Best" tier) and you're making some sad attempt to get it changed so that you don't have to be sad that you didn't get the absolute best gear. For example, to turn your logic on it's head. If all items should serve a unique and fabulous purpose, lets compare handguns. We can all agree that the Makarov isn't as good as the G17. So we should buff the Makarov, right? Because I don't want to live in a world where I would ALWAYS pick the G17 over the Makarov. This clearly has nothing to do with the fact that I found a Makarov and not a G17, I just think the Makarov should be better so that all the guns can feel like the prettiest girls at the ball. -

If you use DayZ commander you can see which servers have it "turned on". It's also been pretty conclusively tested to do virtually nothing on DayZ, similar to how you can turn on tracers but bullets still won't fire with tracers. -
Bandits KOS against fresh spawns =/= Finding your camp and stealing your things Not really sure what instilled this thought process for you, did people steal your things and make you angry? The wilderness is no safer than any other part of the map for a camp. In fact, think of it this way. For every spot you think "shit dude, this would make a PERFECT camp" there's some guy looking at the map thinking "lol some tard thinks this isn't an obvious camp spot". The sword cuts both ways, if you THINK your camp is in a crazy spot in the wilderness people are twice as likely to check there because it IS A CRAZY SPOT IN THE WILDERNESS. Sometimes me and friends just run right along the northern border of the map because people are still stupid enough to make camps there. It's just free loot at this point. tl;dr For real though, don't try to belittle others because you think your camp is the best and should never be found. It just makes sense to go looking for camps in obvious spots, like the borders of the map. Trying to claim otherwise just makes you look like a jealous retard who can't figure out why people keep raiding their tents.

Let me get this out of the way first: I don't believe zombies should be weaker. Zombies should be a major threat, more than player versus player. That said, zombies are incredibly INCONSISTENT right now. Last night I'm driving my bus around like a boss, doing bus things, and I hit a rock outside cherno. Two tires popped, and although I had two on the bus one of them simply vanished when I used it for the repair and the tire wasn't fixed. 'No problem' I figure, 'I'll just go get one from one of the many industrial buildings in town!' So I'm sneaking around in town, in the dead of night, and the two things that piss me off about zombies most almost killed me. 1. Zombie aggro range is extremely inconsistent. Sometimes in the middle of the day I can walk up to a zombie and tickle him and walk away without him being any wiser to my presence. Sometimes (as last night) my noise and vision bar are 0, it's midnight on a new moon, and a zombie three blocks down the road gets a telephone call from Poseidon letting him know I haven't sacrificed enough goats and that I need to be punished. Again, zombies SHOULD BE HARD. They should be a thing you need to plan around. But therein lies the current problem, you can only plan around the zombies if their actions are CONSISTENT. It's impossible to make a strategy for dealing with them when their behavior changes so drastically. 2. Zombie strength is variable, and the RNG on status effects like broken legs and unconscious is poorly done at best. The same zombie who sprinted three city blocks around four buildings and a bunch of cars to get to me turned out to be Mike Tyson fucking reborn to cause me pain. He runs straight up to me (at 12k blood) and punches me right in the jaw. I'm immediately unconscious. He proceeds to feast on my innards and I barely come back at about 3k blood to put a pistol mag in him and abandon town. Even after the leg breaking nerf, I've found it happens far more than it should that the very first time a zombie hits you your legs break. This again goes back to inconsistency. I think zombies should be powerful, but they should ALWAYS behave in a similar manner. Some zombies can claw at my face while I loot a building and do nothing but slowly chip me down to 10k. Other times Mike Tyson busts through a wall like the god damn Kool-aid man, screams "OH YEAH!" and punches me in the gut so hard I have an abortion. All I'm asking for is that zombies be more consistent. Perhaps make it so that you can ONLY break your legs from zombie attacks under 9k blood and only be knocked out under 6k blood, but have zombies hit for 500-750 instead of 200. The threat is still high, but at least you can plan around how much health you have. Right now I feel like it doesn't matter if I'm at 12k blood or 6k, a zombie could one shot me at any moment regardless. Again, this isn't about nerfing zombies. It's about keeping their behavior consistent so that it is POSSIBLE to create a strategy and execute it. This would make gameplay much more satisfying. It's one thing to die to zombies because you did something stupid and got murdered, but it's another to sneak around like Sam Fisher and still get murdered because some zombies are just magical and some aren't. I know it's an alpha and there's going to be bugs, but this really needs attention. It's a core mechanic of the game, and at present the RNG is very poorly done from a design perspective.

Biggest startle from a game ever
DEOVONTAY MCSLANGA replied to Shintsu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
PDW does the same damage as the g17, it just has full auto which you can do yourself by just pulling the trigger really fast. The M1911 and Revolver are both worthless since they got nerfed into the floor. They do slightly more damage than the 9mm side arms, but have clips less than half the size. I would recommend using the flashlight on the g17 though if you're within 10m. It completely blinds the target if they're running max gamma (ghetto night vision) or have NVGs on. This would be at night of course. Also, if you shot him that many times he's definitely in shock. If you log out while in shock you log back in with an unconscious timer, usually MASSIVE. Assuming you did enough damage and the hive properly updated the fact that he is 1. in shock and 2. bleeding I would pretty much guarantee he'll log back in, fall asleep, and die. So to anyone trying to justify the alt f4, that last line means that: 1. If he had stayed and tried to fight with his fitty cal, he may have been able to kill the G17 man and bandage himself to live another day. 2. By alt-f4ing he basically ensured that he will die (assuming again that the hive had time to register the damage, bleeding, and shock. This would depend on how shitty the server was you're playing on) 3. Therefore, the only purpose to alt-f4ing was to ensure that poor G17 wouldn't get his loot, and he would instead decompose somewhere on another server where no one can have his loot. So yeah, alt-f4ing was the stupid asshole thing to do. Like it always is. -
ATVs and Pobeda Dam
DEOVONTAY MCSLANGA replied to DEOVONTAY MCSLANGA's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah I know why it happens, but it's just silly that they could so easily fix this and they don't. At the VERY LEAST they need to take any vehicles that spawn on buildings/dams/other broken terrain and move them. This would literally take a few minutes to fix. Better yet, the problem wouldn't exist in the first place if the guy placing the vehicles wasn't incompetent. It's obvious there's a problem with vehicles on bridges, etc; the least this dumbass could do is just not spawn vehicles there. -
DUCKING THUNDERDOME!!!
DEOVONTAY MCSLANGA replied to Martyca3839's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/55837-dear-treudat-admin-of-us-1343/ I got thunder domed, but I didn't die for alt-f4ing. I almost did, apparently the thunder dome is in the middle of NWAF. When I logged back on today I was like "oh grea- POP POP POP" as a kid wtih a DMR opened up on me. Good thing bads gonna bad and I got away. I did get banned away from my loot stash and vehicles though, which honestly pisses me off more than dying would have. -

Yeah we laughed pretty hard about it. At least some hackers have a sense of humor. Laughing abruptly stopped when I was unjustly banned away from my loot stash and vehicles though. I spent my only day off this week gathering that shit :(
