The skill disparity in this game means that it would be very hard to find a level of "ridiculously impossible" that would be manageable for a group of average guys while being impossible for one skilled guy. Great idea though.

Speak for yourself, I have a great time playing it.

Just a BTW, one zombie strike always does within the realm of 300 blood, I'm guessing what happened here was that you started bleeding from it and didnt notice. Also, be aware of the blood thresholds: Below 9000 blood, zombie hits have a chance to knock you out, below 6000, you have a chance of randomly passing out at any time. Anyway, a few zombie-losing tips. 1) crouch running is fast enough to avoid zombie hits unless you try to run straight past one. Zombies need to stop running and pause for a short moment before doing their attack animation, so crouch running is useful to avoid the zombies that are chasing you without aggroing ones that havent seen you yet. If you are surrounded or zombies have you cornered, however, double tap "W" for a full sprint, and you can run right through a horde of them. 2) The zombie AI in this game is actually pretty realistic, so zombies cannot follow you as soon as they cant see you. When a zombie chasing you loses sight of you, it will run at the last place it saw you and a little more in the direction you were going before slowing down and looking around. Because of this, 2 corners or bushes are all you need to permanently lose a zombie, since you can run around one, making the zombie lose sight, then around the other, so the zombie will not be able to see you after it reaches the point it last saw you at. This means that you can run circles around a bush, large tree or a building to lose zombies in hilarious fashion, as long as you keep the zombie out of LoS. This is less useful with hordes, as they spread out while running and so chances are you will round the second cover and bump into a zombie, but it will still lose about 70-80% of the horde chasing you. 3) no matter how many are chasing you, running through a building will lose every single one of them. *Make sure the building you are running into has another way out* There arent many different buildings in the game so you will soon learn which ones have 2 entrances and which ones are death traps. 4) if a zombie follows you into a building you want to loot, you need to loot fast. Zombies act strangely in buildings, glitching through the walls and the floor, and its very easy to get hit by a zombie you cant see because its inside the walls. They still move slowly though, so keep moving, loot fast, and get out.

Why nobody will be buying Day Z standalone
Pupple replied to Revilo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Are you kidding? I'm buying just FOR the dancing zombies! -
Youre doing the same thing. Because you personally have been affected by hacking, you are assuming its a very big problem. Unless someone does a large study on it polling a wide range of Dayz players (not dayz forum users) no one can say if hacking is a bigger problem than anything else, because all we have are anecdotes. You can say it MIGHT be, but claiming you KNOW anything is arrogant and stupid.

By this logic, every single person who plays Halo, Counterstrike, Battlefield, Team Fortress 2 and any other TDM based FPS is hiding a murderous, psychopathic streak. If you played these games, would you play it like a "respectful, honest person" and try to talk it out with the enemy?

Trading high-tier loot for good intel on {CQF} operations
Pupple replied to DayZ Dan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dan, please release all the screenshots at least, I'm hungry for info on this. -
A pretty simple idea stolen from WoW. When you log out, a 20 second timer starts. While its counting down you are frozen in place. When it ends your character disappears. Any other method of logging out leaves your character in place for those 20 seconds before disappearing, and logging in again is disabled while that countdown is in place. This wouldnt solve all combat logging, since if you find a place thats safe for 20 seconds you can still get out, but it would prevent the most fustrating instances of people disappearing mid-death animation.

Yeah this is pretty unavoidable. Personally I would screw over the hacking victims in favour of the people who want their headshots to die. Its hard to tell which group is larger. Judging from streams and personal experience, its the latter. Hopefully hacking will be solved at some point and then this choice will be easy.

Its not useless, if it was gone you would definitely notice. Its not perfect however, and you were unlucky. Make sure your firewall has battleye listed as safe. Anger is the natural reaction to what happened but you need to learn how to take these things in your stride. There is no one to blame so move on. omgwtfbbq, you werent kicked by battleye.

Killed 7 people today, and wounded 4, no DCs
Pupple replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thank you OP for not ignoring the good times of dayz like everyone else on these forums! -
Garret, try sharing moments that you found pleasing and exciting, theyre more pleasing to read. Septus, if all he wanted to do was draw attention to a bad UI, he would have gone to the suggestions forum.

Yup, if they use any exit method other than escape -> abort they will persist in the world after theyve quit and be unable to come back in.

I'm sure rocket will get around to it, but hes got alot of more important stuff to fix :P

Could have been a hacker, more likely someone just got lucky.

I love that these kind of things are popping up. I might use your services just for the sake of it :) -

Much respect to the OP. No matter what your motives are, you just made this game alot cooler. -
Grab a hatchet and some matches, and a cow is worth 8000 blood. Cooked meat is the lone wolfs best friend.

Definitely Sacriel, because stuff actually happens in his stream. I've only seen a few rhinocrunch videos, but they were just him running around, being very careful, and thats it. The commentary was interesting though.

Are the hacker denialists... hackers?
Pupple replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you hadnt used the verb "ruined" here I would agree with you. Its not ruined, you know its not ruined, and its easily proven that its not ruined by the fact that there still are high pop servers out there, full of people voluntarily playing. The experience is lessened by it, thats it. I swear, people who get so emotionally attached to these issues that they need to lie in order to justify their constant whining about it do more damage to this game than hackers do. -

I doubt it. A hacker that has spent a decent chunk of time in order to get an advantage over other players is going to want alot of players to use that advantage on. Stop trying to make people think this affects everyone. -
This is quite an important distinction between people. Some people, when this happens to them, will think "ok, dont select that option when on a ladder next time" and will continue playing Some people will come to the forums complaining. Guess which ones will do the best in dayz.

Are the hacker denialists... hackers?
Pupple replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I only play on low population servers, and I've never encountered a hacker besides one server that was completely on fire. Quickly left that one, nothing bad happened. I might be a tiny minority, but my biggest complaint with this game is the zombie pathing. People focus on the bad times, forget the normal times. Its natural to exaggerate this issue without realising. Victims of hackers will come to the forums to say so, while very few people come to the forums to tell us about their normal dayz experience. Hacking will also be reported here more often than other problems as there is an obvious person to blame and who we want revenge on. Because of this, hacking will be the most talked about problem regardless of whether its actually the most widespread. -
For me the big thing to consider is the current server population. If its less than 10 I'll just run in fairly carefree, looking around me but with the knowledge that if someones already hidden they will see me first. As the server gets more crowded I get more careful, scouting for a good few minutes.
