[Standalone] Suggestion for humanity indicator
Tarkastio replied to Ralfie's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like this. If it was used in unison with subtle variations between facial expressions, that'd be really quite cool. -
Your Shoot On Sight Threshold?
Tarkastio replied to Taggert1313's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't shoot immediately on sight unless I turn a corner and you are inches from my face with a weapon pointed at me. I usually play very quiet and try to leave as little of a trail as possible, including one of bodies. If they do not respond to hails, or act in the least hostile, I will either GTFO or shoot. -
Double post due to internet lag, sorry. Not sure how to delete post.

Because "Tark" is "man of Gondor" in Black Speech, which originated from the word "Tarkil", a Quenya word for "a person of Númenorean descent". The Black Speech is the language of Mordor, and spoken by the Orcs, which is mostly adapted and warped words of other languages due to the Orcs never being given one of their own.

Zombies - Making them Harder / only killable by headshots
Tarkastio replied to Paddy0610's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm hoping for zombies that are less sudden stop and punch and more full football tackle and eaten alive, but that is just my sick desire. I would much rather have zombies a more forefront role, and being an actual threat, that human players have to deal with more seriousness when it comes to banditry. Nothing against them and their views, mind you, I would just rather have them play a bigger role. -
I'm hoping for all sorts of gore that you can use as tells. Blood trail? Wounded person must have come by here! Blood pools/streaks? Someone must have died, then the body must have been moved! Rotting flesh? Someone must have been eaten here! Bones? Someone died a long time ago. And the list goes on. The gore shouldn't be meaningless, it should tell a tale of sorrow and death, and the death of the people who came before you.

DayZ Guide: Meeting Players & Avoiding Betrayal
Tarkastio replied to Trizzo's topic in New Player Discussion
Very interesting, very detailed, I applaud the amount of work that went into this. /Vote for sticky, or at least officially placed somewhere for newbies to find. -
DayZ needs more blunt objects that I can use to beat you with. On a less murderous note, DayZ in my opinion shouldn't have "more" guns, but more uses and variants of them. IE: An AK with a bayonet, for those close combat bandit skirmishes. Flashlights, suppressors, etc, all to be used on various weapons. I'd prefer not to have so many weapons so that they all begin to blend together and are so close that x weapon is literally just Y weapon with a larger clip and less damage. Individuality and flavor of each weapon should be kept, while keeping an customization for what is right for you.

Fixed. Yes, I'm that guy.

What are the three things you want to be in Standalone?
Tarkastio replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
1. Drastically less exploiters. 2. Detailed medical system. Think minigame-esque suturing and other medical actions. 3. General feeling of polish. The OP pretty much took my first 3. -
Standalone could slip to 2013
Tarkastio replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Good sir, is not ArmA a tactical shooter? :) And on the subject of the release, I never expected him to release it in December, and I'm sure he'll release it when he can. -
I've discovered you have to fear the admins as much as you fear being shot at from the ground or crashing. :)

A bandit is a player who steals and takes so they can continue having fun. A psychopath is a player who finds the act of ending another player fun. A survivor is a player who finds fun in helping other players, or in just existing. In my opinion, it isn't the action that defines you. It's the driving force behind it, the intention. I'm inclined to disagree, good sir. The steriotypical knight is a good example of an honorable glorified murderer, and they aren't even looting or killing for their own survival, they do it for honor and glory. Of course, not exactly the most realistic example ever, but I hope you get my point. :)

I lead my own one-man worst heli squad of all time.

ROE 1: Kill those who may cause harm. ROE 2: Spare those who cannot cause harm. ROE 3: If in doubt, throw a grenade and shoot whatever moves. ROE 4: When bored, repeat ROE 3 multiple times in the midst of groups.

Because it's Garrus.

I've had thoughts toward this myself, for the sake of realism, emotional movement, and for the sake of making the world seem darker. Not only does the world hate you and want you to die, it wants you to die screaming.

I agree, I've always wanted to see how an actual medical system in a tactical shooter would turn out. I can just imagine it now. Your best friend is yelling at you as you suture his bleeding wound while your other buddy is trying to hold the door while the other group is trying to kill you for your beans.

In my opinion, it's like the difference between No More Room in Hell, and Left 4 Dead. They each have different dangers and fears. I have felt both the horrible "Oh God, I'm going to die..." as I used my last few pistol rounds available as the walkers corner me in a hallway, and the unintelligable moment of terror as you get pinned to the ground out of nowhere by a hunter, or turn a corner to have a charger destroy you. I'm for both, honestly. I don't know if I could decide. It's fear, for sure, but it is a different fear, and fear affects people differently. Some people don't find walkers scary, and some people just don't jump to surprises. We can't cater to the whole community, but we can go for the majority, and what fits the theme. My vote to the Romero Walker. The last 30 seconds of your human existance ticking away along with your ammo count, your character screams "No more mags!' (Thank you, NMRIH, for that phrase, which has killed my hopes too many times to count.) as you throw your spent handgun to the ground and you watch with horror as you are holding on for dear life with your machete, even though you know in your heart and soul you have no chance that you will ever escape the corner you have become entrenched in, and nothing will stop the zombie in your face from grabbing you, and biting you to death, as you become one of them.

I think Inception has it right.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
Tarkastio replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm not sure you get the idea. The point is that people are more valuable than items. To survive alone would be next to impossible. You'd want allies. People would band together because the other person is more valuable than the items you could take from their corpse. -
Off-road Military Pickup deserves more durability
Tarkastio replied to Welch (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think the whole way the vehicles interact and work should be upgraded to some degree. I'm pretty tired of flipping randomly on small rocks and invisible objects. But yes, some more toughness for that vehicle would be nice. -
