  1. I played Dayz on my Macbook Pro 13" Mid 2010 (It only has a Dual-Core, some 330mb Graphic Card and 4gb ram) on an external full HD 24" Monitor (Samsung Syncmaster).

I had to use the lowest graphic settings with full resolution but only like 50% of 3D-Resolution. It didnt look very well but it was playable and i had fun with this mod for several weeks.

So i guess almost every laptop which is now up to date should easily be able to run this game even on external monitors.

  2. for you maybe. but some people enjoy playing in an enviornment without people killing them. I mean really If you own a server you should be able to lock it.

Maybe you should be allowed to, maybe not. But for now its against the rules, so there is nothing more to say.

But it should be okay. If your server gets blacklisted you can still play on your own. The only reason why admins who lock their servers are angry because of the reporting is because they want to unlock the server once they have all the good stuff. And thats fucking bullshit.

  3. More vehicles would be dumb. Nowadays you feel very very very very very lucky if you find some vehicle, even luckier if it is not fully destroyed. This is exactly the feeling you would suggest a zombie apocalypse survivor to have. It wont be anything special if you find vehicles everywhere.

  4. Lets do the sleep thing but you have to be online while sleeping, otherwise it will not count. So lets say you have to sleep 4 hours you have to sit in front of your screen and watch your char sleep for 4 hours. That would be realistic.

  6. Your first point cannot be changed at all, it would require editing the actual game code which would effect all of arma, it does ruin the game but its something you need to live with until the standalone version is released.

Server-bound characters. But this will only work if there would be (huge) server hosted by the dayz devs themselves cause it would suck if you play you character over several weeks and then the server admin decides to quit the game and shuts the server down.

  7. would like to see this, but I think Rocket said player built/owned "underground" bases are going to be his move forward?

    correct if wrong :)

    AJ

Yes rocket mentioned this as a possible solution for the server hopping problem which is a consequence of non-server-bound characters.

If you swap a server while underground the switching would just set you overground.

  8. Personally, the idea of having a tent in the game to store your things is an amazing idea. However, with the map size being so small and the average players per day per server, it is nearly impossible to keep anything more than a few weeks. In a real life situation one would "sleep" in your tent (assuming you have room in their). I would suggest adding a player action (on the scroll menu) that allows one to "sleep" in their tent. This would allow the player to log out with their tent and their gear would be safe. For instance, in a real life situation you may come across a tent in the woods. If you go to loot it you may or may not find someone sleeping inside. This person would then have the option to defend themselves or run screaming (fight or flight). With the current model in game, there is no way to protect our assets of any fashion other than finding "glitchy" ways to hide our tents in hopes nobody finds them. I suggest something like this.

Player places tent. Player puts gear in their tent. Player leaves room for their body (say 15 spaces?). Player sleeps in tent. Tent and player log off. Tent and player are safe from looters.

The player would have to return to their tent in order to log out and keep it safe. While the player is playing and is away from the tent it is NOT safe and other players can stumble upon it and loot it. If someone was to log out of the server while in combat, they would have abandoned their tent leaving it vulnerable. He would have to log back into the server, run to their tent, and then sleep in it.

TLDR: Tents should have an option to "sleep" in them. This would protect the tent from being looted while the player is off. The player would have to be at their tent in order to "sleep". This would punish the people who combat log as they would leave their tents vulnerable.

This is a very good idea.

  9. Me and my friend have found a secret little server that rarely have above 10 people. We've barely encountered players and it's been the most fun we've had playing a game in a while. However when we played on populated servers before, we were constantly getting in fights with people and sniped/shot randomly out of nowhere. It ruined the fun and the experience. We'll get bored of no pvp eventually and go back to full servers, but the option definitely needs to officially be there.

If a game bores you why do you play it?

  10. It should be players choice. No one should be forced into PVP, Create one character for PVP and one for PVE. If you like the PVP side of DayZ, play PVP. If not, play PVE.

Garbage. This mod is about surviving while facing both sides.... zombies AND other survivors (bandits). You want to play pve only? Try Left for Dead.

  11. I completely understand what a sandbox is. I have been playing minecraft for 2 years and it's still fun. But DayZ hasn't got the same sandbox feel to it. and I think you are reading it like these are mission objectives. No, just something to help newer players get used to where things are. You don't have to do them and they don't change any loot spawns. But something on the task screen so it's not taking space on the HUD that can give players an idea of what to do next and how to navigate the land.

Probably takes about <10 hours of gaming until you know quite everything about zombies, loot spawn and locations. Why ruining a game just to make the first 10 hours easier? The first 10 hours were the best just because of the lack of information.

  12. I do play on Vet, sit in the bush but i get sniped by anyone who has l85 even when i have freaking SVD Camo..

Yes thats the point of this shitty thermal scopes. This doesnt mean that they have to decrease visibility of snipers.

This "problem" will be fixed soon even if they wont remove thermal scopes/weapons since most of them were hacked into the game and most of the people that have these are alt+f4 ing cause they dont want to loose them. Once alt+f4,hacking and low population farming + server hopping is fixed i promise you that thermal things will be much much more rare.

  13. I hate CoD multiplayer.. I rather campaign;). Anyway whats the point of having ghillie/camo if you can just be spotted by anyone?

Are you trolling? Play on some veteran servers with nameplates disabled. You cant even see a ghillie man if he is lying right next to you. If you spot him because he wants to use the biggest sniper in the game this is his decision. Every weapon should have its pros and cons. But even with a easy spottable sniper. With a guillie you will ALWAYS be less visible than without so saying ghuillis are useless just because of the thermal scopes is just idiotic.

And the fact that you can be spotted by thermal scopes is just realistic but i dont like too.

  14. 1) Multiple Characters!

Sometimes I get on with my group of friends and we are all up north. They all Log off so I log off as well even though I don't want to stop playing (I log off so I can stay with them when I'm logged back in it doesn't take hours of us looking for each other) So multiple characters (3 max? 2 Max?) Would be a great Idea that way I have one character that I can "F*ck around on" and another character for group surviving!

You dont get the point of this mod. "THIS IS YOUR STORY" as ONE survivor. Not the story 1.1 for your first character, 1.2 for your second one, ... You can play on your own but you have to be aware of facing death and you then have to catch up with your friends again. Thats the life of some survivor.

    2) I know this one won't be all that popular but Currency and a Shop.

There would be an NPC in every major hot spot city that you can sell your unwanted items too. You can in turn get a Currency (bottle caps or some other type) that takes up 2 slots but is stackable up to 150 (This number is undetermined) The Currency would be used to buy weapons, ammo and food and other things that can sometimes be hard to find. This would obviously not be "easy" in any way.

Now some of you might think "Well I can go to an empty server and boost my way up." But that is not the case. A good way to prevent such a thing would be to make it so the loot of the NPC (By loot I mean what he has) is greater (better weapons and ammo) with the more people in the server. This way, loot MAY be better when more people are on but there is NO safe zone and it makes talking and trading with said NPC very interesting and VERY dangerous.

This is even worse. Who the faq would care about money in a zombie apocalypse? SURELY NO NEED for any kind of shop/money.

    3) Single Player and an Armory.

Sometimes I just want to get on ArmA and go head to head with NPC's and Zombies. Maybe implement an Single player Sandbox that DOES NOT cross over to Multiplayer characters. Options for Singleplayer would be NPC hardness, NPC Fame (60% of NPC's are friendly, 40% evil. But you can change the percentage to what ever you want. However the more Friendly NPC's you kill the more the Evil % goes up. Heal an NPC and the Friendly % goes up. You can however NEVER get more Friendly NPC's than what was set. So lets take 40% are friendly. I kill some friendlies. Now the percent is down to 30%. I heal some it goes back up to 40%. Then I heal some more. It can never go up past 40%.) NPC shops (How good of loot there is and the Percentage of getting each item (Quick and Custom options)

Interesting but i dont like it. its all about the multiplayer aspect. There are enough singleplayer zombie games.

Now onto the Armory. Haven't you ever wanted to just sit back and try out the different guns of DayZ to find out WHICH gun is the gun you are good with? I have. In ArmA 2 there was and is an Armory in the main menu, where you can try out different guns. I think this should be implemented into the standalone to where there are zombies and NPC's that you can shoot at to see the effectiveness.

NO. You wake up at the coast and face a zombie apocalypse. You want to get used to weapons? Find them, test them and decide which one you want to use.

    4) Guns!

More more more more guns! Just put every gun in the game in to DayZ. It will make guns more challenging as you can only take so many types of Ammo. And then guns like the VSS would be great because it would be so hard to find VSS ammo that it would almost be a one time gun. You find it you use it, you dump it! Please just put every gun in ArmA2 into this game as well as possibly some of the guns from the 1944 mod aswell?

Adding new guns is a good idea. But not all of them and surely not more of these high end military shit weapons. We are not in a third world war.

  15. 3. L85 AWS

Delete this weapon. No point of having camo/ghillie if someone can just turn on thermal vision and see where you are.

You don't have to delete weapon but change the distance of view with thermal to about 400-300m. This would solve a problem with a sniper being spotted.

Lol. Didnt even read this one. This clearly substantiate my allegation. You are mad cause people can spot you with their thermal scopes even if you are sniping from 600m distance. Gosh just play Modern Warfare.

(But i would also love to see thermal weapons disappear from this mod)

  16. 4. Camo Weapons

How about if all weapons would have camo? e.g AS50 or M107 with Camo, but ofcourse it would be really rare to find it and only in helicopter crashes or barracks. This would make the sniper less visible.

So you think they should add things that make snipers less visible? YES PLEASE! If you missed a few shots from 600meter on some lonely survivor you have to alt+f4 way toooooooooo often. Please make us snipers less visible. Use your brain.

Summing all of your points i really think you are one of these little CoD kids just playing on 2/50 populated servers until you have some decent gear and then joining some high populated servers sniping other survivers for hours in 600m distance on some hill since all of your ideas contained sniper visibility increasing, alt+f4 fixing cause you do it just too much and you hate all the other survivors that do this when you hit them and auto-saving cause you farmed dozens nice items on low populated servers.

  17. 1: Kidnapping

Lets say you find a sniper up in the hills, He's in a squad, You can take out lets say a bat for an example, And you hit him unconscious,

Drag his body into your truck, Drive him to your camp/house (**House idea below**), You can for example tie him with rope to a tree/chair/etc.

when he wakes up, Keep him hostage to get gear/money (**Money idea below**`). etc etc.

Lets say you are alone and someone kidnaps you. When you have nobody who will rescue you you are lost until the scrubs decide to let you go?

Stupid idea (not just in the case mentioned below).

    2. House

In the standalone, they should really add alot of houses/apartments where you can enter and be in the whole building, You should be able to barricade your

house with materials you find when scavenging, Like scrap metal etc, to barricade your house with to make thief/zombie proof. Garage, They should add garage

to keep your cars in if you prefer that instead of the woods. Having houses could be a problem when everybody server switch, but i got a solution for that aswell

    (**Server Hopper idea below**)

Good idea to make almost every house/building enterable. This was mentioned hundred times before and i am optimistic that this will be the case in the stand alone version.

Barricade a house should be possible too if your character and therefore all the buildings are bound to this specific server. But this wont happen i think because once you are offline ppl will rape your house and there cant be some locking mechanism since sooner or later all the buildings would be locked up because little bitches have fun blocking everything (like all these wire scrums which block all the entrances of towers/fire stations with their fucking wire).

    3. Money

You should be able to scavenge/steal/sell gear/vehicle etc, for money. Like there was a currency, So you could have a radio (I think the radio idea have been

mentioned before on this forum) and by the radio communicate with other players, To make up deals, For example, Selling a fixed motorbike for lets say 700$ and

lets say you find about 3$-20$ when you scavenge, And by gathering up money to trade with other players.

No need of money in a post apocalypse game. The only thing that counts is to survive. Goods can be food or weapons (trade system), but it will never be money.

    4. Zombies

Zombie is a virus (that most of us people know) which gets control of your body and makes it able to move after death, With this they shouldn't be able to run as

fast as Olympic sprinters. They should be able to runwalk with the disabiltiy to move smooth. With this they get weaker, And if zombies isn't bad enough already,

you should add more of them, Making them abit smarter, And making them able to break into your house (**House idea above**)

Zeds are fucked up with their behavior. There are countless things to do.

    5. Server hoppers.

Alot of people change server constantly, when it changes to night they get off and move to another server with different time, Yeah, sometimes you jump into a

a server that have hackers in it, Lag, Bugs, And spawning in night time isn't that nice i can agree with. With this you should be able to play for about 30 minutes

in that server before choosing to bind yourself to the server, The bound should not last for very long, But lets say for a week, So you can't serverhop to get

items from Barracks etc. With this you can't disconnect when it gets night, You need to stay on, Experience the night gameplay, And make friend/enemies.

Stupid idea. Hackers can appear at any time. 30 min of playing on a server doesnt count shit.

    6. Pimp my ride concept.

In my opinion, You should be able to find items like some scrap metal to build a weapon holder, Place it on your trunk on a off road jeep for example, And be able

to have passenger having his weapon in the weapon holder and being able to shoot. And lets say you find scrap metal, You could place this onto your car to build

a stronger shell to avoid explosive/bullet/etc damage. Being able to find seats to put on the trunk, So you can have passenger there aswell.

Feedback/Criticism is very welcome, Please give me your thoughts about this!

    Cheers! -BanditTracker

Stupid idea since you would have to implement new weapons which are attachable to vehicles. It would be enough to make drive by shooting (shooting out of windows/from the back of the car) possible.

  18. I have been wanting a visual representation of a player's "age/experience".

This will be implemented sooner or later (you could see this in one of rockets presentations on youtube where in the background one freshly spawned survivor ("noob") and a "veteran" can be seen. The veteran had some beard and dirty/torn clothes going on).

THERE IS NO NEED FOR A BANDIT INDICATOR.

  19. 10 secs would be too less i think. Remember a situation where someone hears shots at him and hides behind some wall or tree and instantly log out. There is no chance for you to go for him in 10 secs. 30 secs would be perfect. You then really have to look where and when you can log out. Same thing in some houses. When you re followed by a dozens of zombies and you run in a house with multiple floors there is no chance for zombies to catch up to you in 10 secs.

and 30 sec wont be too much since you do not log out multiple times in an hour.
