Ohh I see, I presume if you installed using six updater you can still update manually?

So I guess there's a new patch out (1.7.2.5) and on six launcher all the servers running that version are highlighted amber. I've followed the tutorial on youtube here - - using six updater, however it still says I'm running version 1.7.2.4 on six launcher and the servers are still amber. When I click to join the servers running 1.7.2.5 it says 'Warning the server seems to be outdated, do you want to join anyway', this is confusing as surely it's me that's outdated, not the server? I haven't tried joining one yet but there seems to be something wrong here.

NONONO NONO NO no You went into FIVE buildings and no gun? wtf is this bs, I was under the impression 1 in 5 people had a gun in their house... ^SARCASM^ This game has a big learning curve, meaning when you first start you will be penetrated by zombies in every oraface, but after a while you learn where the best places are to find guns and how to avoid/escape zombies. Here's a few tips: ~ Guns tend to be in barns/military areas, they CAN be found in residential buildings however this is less common and they will probably be not as good ~ Zombies run at the same speed as you and they cant attack while moving so if you stay on the move they cant catch you ~ To escape chasing zombies try running up a steep hill, you will walk slow for a few seconds (they wont hit you because they have to stop to swipe) and then you will be able to run as normal, leaving the zombies in your dust as they continue to walk ~ Weaving between large bushes/trees can also work if as soon as you're out of sight you start to crouch walk or prone so they don't hear you ~ If you do have a gun then simply run into a house, at the moment zombies can only walk in houses so they line up for easy shots

As people have already said you no longer spawn with a gun. I actually disagree with the person above me, imo your best bet at the start is to run straight into one of the major cities on the coast and loot what you can, after all you have nothing to lose when you first spawn. It kinda depends on whether you are on a very populated server or not, on one with 40+ people it's pretty much impossible to run around the big cities with no weapon and survive.

The game is definately worth buying just for the mod, that's exactly what I've done and I don't regret it :)

Go into your gear menu, right click on the flashlight and click 'remove from toolbelt', this means you will now be carrrying it. To turn it on/off press L (presuming you're using the default controls). You can obviously add it back to your toolbelt by reversing the process in your gear menu.

Because there's a difference between whining that "this 'game' sucks" and saying "I've encountered a bug where ____ happens, i hope it is fixed soon". The latter certainly wouldn't get told to stfu.

Can't say ive ever encountered a hacker, although that's probably because I'm generally playing solo, what you've got to remember is that there isnt a big red button infront of the developers that says 'STOP HACKERS'.

The idea of edible berries is a pretty good one, imo they'd have to be massively underpowerd or quite rare as to not make the game too easy, perhaps they restore so little health that they are basically a emergancy food unless you eat huge amounts.

What are we dealing with here.

*facepalm* i was pressing the other '-' key, using the numberpad one worked, screen went black for a second etc and the glitch *seems* to have stopped, fingers crossed :) ty for the answers guys, the dayz community seems alot friendlier than most... for now...

Basically I'm another sufferer of these graphical glitches that I'm sure you're all aware of, the type that occur around military locations. It's always suggested to press shift and hit -, then type the word flush, from what I gather the screen should go black for a second after the word is typed before returning to normal, hopefully no longer with the glitch. However when I do this nothing happens, the screen doesn't go black as if the command isn't working - any ideas? I did have '-' bound as flashlight so I presumed this was the problem, however it's still the same after I reverted to the default controls. Thanks for your help :) I'm pretty new to the game so it's probably something obvious -__-
