This server is brand new, been up for about a week now. We don't have many players, only about a handful atm, but hopefully that'll change. Right now there's over 70+ vehicles on the map, 3 or 4 are taken by the players. No structures are built yet, but I'm working on building the gas and tow shop in cherno. Server guidelines are pretty basic: Be respectful to each other (I know that's a tough one). Role play is encouraged, not enforced. Use direct chat to talk with people and avoid side chat if you can. A world wide chat channel doesn't work well in any role play environment really. You can build anywhere you want. I'm hoping to see devils castle setup as a nice base by someone. Oh and base camping or griefing are allowed. If you build 20 walls in front of someone's door...that's fine. You put the time and effort into it so I won't punish you. It's a bit dickish but that's fine too. We're running straight up vanilla Epoch with no extras except a custom anti-hack. We did add some quantity to trader inventories, the default of 10 items per trader seemed a bit low. We may add some more to traders soon, wood and such to buy so you don't have to chop trees all day long for materials. Maybe even add in pre-build items like wall and floors...but they would be costly. Anyway, if you're interested in setting/building up on a new server, we'd like to host you. Also, if you need help building or gathering materials, don't be shy about asking for a hand.

Private hive servers don't have less hackers. It's completely false.
-
You seem to imply you lost your gear specifically because you were kicked. I want to assure you, this isn't the case.
-
Some Admins will ban you. Just come here and we'll sort them out for you.

As already said updating to 1.7.2.5 doesn't cause any wipe or removal of vehicles/tents. It does, however, introduce a Hive update 0.73 I think it is, that has had nothing but problems. BUT this is due to be fixed soon when the Hive is moved to a new home server. In the meantime, I'd stay with 1.7.2.4 if I were you. Tents and Vehicles aren't reliable on a server running 1.7.2.5 right now.

What it means is it's time to restart the server. It also means you should go to: http://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/source/browse/ Click on Filters, then copy the 3 files into the 3 files on your server.

Banning server hoppers (Barracks Hoppers)
Ped replied to tandwan's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You prefaced your post with a disclaimer that presupposes you know precisely what people are going to say. That being, "You cannot ban people for server hopping." So, you already know what you're doing is going to be either unpopular or outright wrong. Further into your post you specifically state "I hate it..." and then, "...I want to do something about it." Basically, you've set this entire post up around what you want and what you're going to do. This is very obviously yet another situation of a self-entitled Admin forcing his/her ruleset on the playerbase without any justifications outside of..."This gets me a little annoyed..." I'm so very sorry that you don't like players taking advantage of the Hive by jumping around to various servers to obtain loot faster then you apparently do, but that doesn't justify you starting to track then ban these players. Perhaps next you will ban players who hop to another server to use a vehicle to cross the map then hop back into your server closer to their target destination? Sickening. I eagerly await the Server Complaints to roll in over your clear abusive nature. Another bully forcing their views on people. To answer your question, yes, there is an Rcon suite that tracks player locations upon login/logout. At least it did, they've been talking about removing it to prevent admin abusing it...like you would be doing. -
When you log back in, you will be standing where you logged out. Chances are very good the bike will be gone...someone will have taken it. You don't login on a vehicle so there's no threat to you at all. Also, you cannot take vehicles to other servers. Your friend is experiencing part of the anti-server hoping code. If you log out and in fairly often from a server you're stuck with an unconscious timer. But it's fairly long, like 4 or 5 minutes? Sometimes it happens even when you don't logout and in rapidly. It's just a bug.

Banned on DE 2012 (Admin Ban, no reason given)
Ped replied to Stephano8151's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This forum works off an honor system. Players post their ban appeals and Admins open a dialogue with the player in hopes of resolving the ban. Obviously, it all depends on whether or not the Admin in question frequents this forum to see this thread about his server. Is the server named: DayZ - DE 2012 (v1.7.2.5/Beta 96061) [RECRUIT][GMT-5] dayzmod.com - hosted by gamed!de Do you know if any Admin Email is shown upon login to the server? -
Now you're just being a tit. Actually, you have all along. OF COURSE YOU CAN DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN A SCRIPT AND A WEAPON. Please, seriously, please stop being such an asshole. I understand your 40+ dollars to rent a server makes you feel entitled or something, but you're not.You really should stop hosting as you clearly have no idea how to Admin a server properly. You are nothing but a bully, a clear and obviously abusive Admin who will kick players and just bully them until you get your way. Just stop.

How come hacks cant be stopped, when they even post like this?
Ped replied to sellasie_83@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ok so, it's pretty clear you are fairly ignorant. And no, I'm not saying that to be mean nor degrade you at all. Maybe we should start with something basic. First of all, you don't see Hacks or Hackers in the game. A Hacker is the person who wrote the application being used to bypass BattlEye script detection. The application used is a Bypass and this is the Hack. The Bypass is run to unlock memory on the users machine, memory which the Arma2 game uses. Once the bypass is running a user is able to 'inject' scripts into the memory and have them run without being detected. Scripts are what the Arma2 engine is built around. The game was designed to allow users to write missions and campaigns within the game using the script language/engine. Users are supposed to be able to spawn vehicles, soldiers and create games using the Arma2 military simulation. Scripts run the game, it's what it's all about. So most of the problems within the DayZ community stems from users who run a bypass and then run scripts to perform various actions like making them invulnerable, invisible, spawning vehicles/weapons and or killing everyone on a server with a press of a button. Battleye was NOT designed for DayZ but intended to protect abuse of the script engine within Arma2, specifically it was supposed to keep people from altering scripts within a mission/campaign in the Arma2 game. Battleye has literally bent over backwards changing their goals to accommodate the DayZ community. They shouldn't be demonized as much as they are because supporting DayZ isn't what they were supposed to be doing. There are also other cheats to this game that doesn't involve scripts. One is called a Radar which uses packet sniffing (reads the chunks of data or packets the internet uses) and picks out of these packets key information such as locations of tents, vehicles and even players throughout the map. Another is the Aimbot which often uses direct3d code to cause the user to aim at specific colors found only on other player textures so you literally never miss your shots. Both of these run outside of the Arma2 engine and thus are not detectable at all. As said, Battleye has bent over backwards to accommodate the DayZ mod. They very recently have begun to run file integrity checks on users' machines in hopes of helping prevent the issue where people run edited files to remove buildings, trees and shrubbery/bushes which allowed players to shoot through walls and such. Personally, I think this is rather invasion and aggressive because at no point did I sign up for having a program scan my files, increasing my bandwidth and internet lag during gameplay. But regardless, it's happening. Now to answer your question, why can hacks not be stopped? They can and are stopped very very often. The Bypass unlocks memory on the computer of the user using the hack. Battleye constantly moves these memory locations forcing Hackers to constantly write new Bypass hacks. This is a cat and mouse game that will continue on forever. Battleye will plug the hole the hacker will figure out where the new hole is and the eternal struggle will continue unabated. There is no stopping the hackers from doing what they do. All Battleye can do is continue to plug the hole when they see it's being exploited. The Radar and Aimbot cheats run outside of Arma2 engine and are completely undetectable. Battleye can do nothing about them. It's very important to know Battleye is working their asses off to better control hacks/scripters from ruining the gameplay experience within Dayz Mod. I think they should be commended. Anyways, I hope that helps enlighten you a bit more about things. -

OFFICAL IM STUCK AT SETUP COMPLETE, PLEASE WAIT THREAD VOICE HERE AND LET THE DEVS HEAR US
Ped replied to Exile Ashal's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
A quicker method of respawning: join a server with version 1.7.2.4, then join a server with version 1.7.2.5, your spawn will be reset. This is a well known issue. Use it to your advantage. -

You need for the server Admin to respond to this thread. No one here can answer your questions. Do you know how to contact the server admin?
