good interview, not the typical questions I'm used to seeing. -

I'm guessing, by the choice of text color over a black background, you don't edit your own articles. -
The steam overlay makes something like this quite useful, and yeah I'm usually too stoned to do math at my computer when I play. So I would find this pretty useful myself, so long as it had where to shoot on snipers that don't zero.

Endgame content in Standalone
DrunkPunk replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think (and hope) that the extent of end game we get is more maps to keep us busy. I definitely agree that this is targeted towards a specific group of gamers, those who prefer the player driven experience. That being said, a player driven experience has all the end game you can come up with. I'm almost at 400 hours on the mod and nowhere near bored. Every time I play, it's a different experience. I really, truly hope it stays this way, because it's an extinct breed of gaming, and it's nice to see this much interest in it in this day. -
Answered it and sent it to a fellow bored coworker

Why hello, how are you today. Welcome to the forum, and a great community, and given the time, people who want to play the game, you should complain, and make recommendations to transform basic Mickey Mouse Bean simulator. Enjoy your stay and send it the beans!

Make prone LESS undetectable by zombies
DrunkPunk replied to baygown's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think it's fine as is. It leaves you completely vulnerable to any player, it takes a second or two to stand up if a zombie DOES detect you (and they can see you lying there, if they get close enough), and you move slow enough that it feels pretty balanced all around. -
What is the best route north
DrunkPunk replied to intelligenttrees's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Cherno, take the road north to stary (some good loot locations along the way for food/drink/low end guns), then I head to the NWAF stopping at the barn along the way. -

Does anyone else feel bad murdering the guy trying to help you?
DrunkPunk replied to ComradeAri's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You know, one thing that I have managed to stay 100% consistent with, that I never thought I would stick with in all my bandit-like ways, is that I never actually lie to a player. If they ask if I'm friendly, and I'm going to shoot them, I won't respond. If I tell someone I won't shoot them (or axe them), I don't. It's a strange thing, I think, that I have set this standard for myself in the game despite my more aggressive/violent play style. So I guess, in a sense, my answer to the question is I imagine I would feel bad. Not just for the player, but in general. -
It's a shame you couldn't have shot him a ninth time.

On private hives, the SUV hands down. Public hives, I prefer my feet...

I chose other. Because when you're at an airfield, or any of the other spots, you usually expect some action. I find the wilderness is much more dangerous, because typically people let their guard down when they aren't near civilization (or where civilization used to be).

There's a few script restrictions that pop up that kick people randomly, I haven't seen any real rhyme or reason behind them. I just ignore it and reconnect.

It doesn't always work. Sometimes, you'll get some surprising results. Just the other day, I had some wonderful gentleman blood bag me after a hatchet-gone-wrong incident at Balotta. Of course, you're more likely to just get shot, or once you let your guard down, catch a bullet to the back of the skull. But that's DayZ.

Standalone and Helicopters.
DrunkPunk replied to ruecanonrails's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
brings up the age-old argument in gaming, that i always answer with one simple expression. it's funny because it applies to almost every single argument about implementing incredibly hardcore realism into a game (note the choice of words there... game, not simulation. because while dayz might be geared towards a more hardcore crowd, it is still very much a game and not a simulator). Gameplay > Realism -
Typical vehicle experience: 1. Find vehicle 2. Spend 2 hours collecting parts and repairing vehicle. 3. Drive 300m 4. Crash into a tree/road debris/house/bush/fence 5. Repeat

How long will it take till your bored of SA?
DrunkPunk replied to Michaelvoodoo25's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I do agree, I am a bit worried about standalone simply due to the map diversity. As it stands, the only chernarus map I can stand has extra buildings in places like cherno, the airfields, elektro and a new town on the very west. I really don't see teh standalone chernarus keeping my attention much, but maybe rocket will maintain the open nature of the mod and allow custom maps. who knows, we can only hope. -
Just curious, because I haven't seen it anywhere else, but does anyone know when the changes from the Rolling Changelog for Community Builds thread is hitting? I'm sure I am being a huge noob here and missing it somewhere, but I like the sound of some of that. Thanks in advance!

always seems to double post at work, sorry folks

Do you trust Rocket's vision?
DrunkPunk replied to Judemoukari's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I trust rockets vision more than I trust the communities. But that's a given. Every game that developers start heavily using the community to base updates on tends to get shot to shit, and all personality and uniqueness lost in the mix. The vast majority of people will never have the appropriate mindset for a game designer, and that's okay because they don't need to be. I just hope Rocket has the sense to recognize that, although I have quite a bit of faith that he does. TL;DR - More faith in rocket than the community -
I miss knowing what my kills are, humanity seems to reset whenever the hell it wants so that's always been pretty useless. I guess now I'll just have to carve a notch into my desk for every poor bastard I mercilessly slaughter..... and just buy a new desk every time I die.

What the %$* is happening to this game???
DrunkPunk replied to jk_scowling's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hackers. Definitely hackers. Every last one of them. -
I only take it if I have nothing else, although half the time I'd prefer a hatchet to a bizon. Just does crap damage, even to zombies, and while the large clip is nice, I still prefer the hatchet.

Don't listen to the casual gamers
DrunkPunk replied to droznig's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Gotta agree with this. While some options might not make sense in the game, providing the choice for people to play how they want (and have been doing so for the entirety of DayZ alpha) is the best thing you can do. Trying to force first person so you can force your preferred method of gameplay is absurd. And the reality is, if there wasn't a large desire for things like third person and crosshairs, then 90% of the servers wouldn't have those options enabled. Nametags, however, i agree need to go. But really, what's the harm in giving the people who rent the servers the option? None at all, and I'd argue there's more harm in removing that option.
