Risk vs Reward as a starting bandit
DrunkPunk replied to Slide885's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Accept the fact that you will die, lose your gear and have to spawn on the coast again. No amount of preparation will change that fact. Once you come to terms with that, and develop a quick system for running through the coastal towns and gearing up well enough to survive again, you'll be set. -
awesome! it's always great going from nothign to everything. i remember about a week ago i spawned on a server with my buddy, and of course it glitched me out and i died. so i'm running from elektro to cherno to meet my buddy (spawned on the west side), and even though I was already out of town I get sniped on the coast. Of course it spawns me on the EAST side of elektro. Screw it, I say, I'll just book it through and maybe I'll die and spawn in cherno. On my way through the town, I hit hte coast. Not too far from where I died, what do I see? A ghillie sniper corpse, loaded with an AS50, NVGs, rangefinder, ect. The whole thing. Pretty sure he was the guy that got me, because I had a pretty safe trip back to Cherno.

uhh not really. third person you still have to actually see the person, nametags you can get lucky and point in their direction. map markers are hardly pointless, if a player is within line of sight they pop up on the map. both take all the skill out of hunting a player, and while some people may claim that third person does this as well, i disagree. but that's a discussion for another topic, i'd say.

DayZ: Afternoon glimpse into the Wet Bandits
DrunkPunk replied to WaldoDude`'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
haha nice. i didn't even know you could take out buildings, that would have scared the crap out of me. -
What all does your server have turned on? Third person? Nametags? Map markers? The first one I prefer, but the second two just make true banditry pointless, which is why I ask.

QUESTION FOR BANDITS
DrunkPunk replied to tad@tadshackles.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Depends on what kind of gear I needed at the time, to be honest. But typically, I imagine I wouldn't unless I felt threatened. -
A Threat To Banditry Itself, And A Solution.
DrunkPunk replied to Caesar (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd be all down for organizing a bandit raid on these fools, but the reality is, I'll never trust anyone I don't know very well when I'm walkign around with my M107 or M4A1 CCO SD.... also, they think they can change the culture of dayz? Not many people succeed when they try to manipulate human nature, but that is a cute idea. the major downfall that any survivor will always have is simply the fact that they will end up trusting the wrong person eventually. -
I'm coming for your dew!

Stand in the middle of cherno with your best gun equipped, staring at the sky, singing misfits songs over direct communication. you'll avoid em every time.

Reddit Rescue Force Gets Royally Served
DrunkPunk replied to 62nd's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ruined this game? Why, I think this game is still great. The fact of the matter is, the number one enemy you have to watch out for in this game is other people. Just the fact that it can psychologically scar you so deeply and cause situations where your own team frantically turns on each other means that it's working. The human element is what makes this game so wonderful, chaotic, horrible and dynamic all at the same time. If you want to make something nice without the threat of other players coming and ruining your fun, then go buy some legos. If you want a dynamic experience where the players set the stage and drive the action, then play more DayZ. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, grow a pair and stop blaming people for playing the game the way it's meant to be played. -
I really wish there was a separate forum for "looking for clan" or "looking for group". sure it would reduce the number of posts in this forum by quite a bit, but it would also weed out the useless crap that most readers won't even touch.

So yesterday morning, on a fresh new character, I found a van with a bunch of gear in the middle of Cherno. What a lucky start! PS. I know I messed up on the rangefinders, was my first time finding them and didn't realize they occupied the same slot as the binocs/NVGs. Lesson learned.

A tale of my first kill and murder (hence the bandit campfire).
DrunkPunk replied to jdan0327's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
careful, this guy is clearly far too cool and leet for such logic -
it seems to be default when you spawn for a while, but ultimately it's worthless if you find camo clothing or a ghillie.

Confess your sins here - The worst thing you've d
DrunkPunk replied to Maedis's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
okay.... I'll admit it... I did something pretty fucked up and wrong. I saw a survivor running along the coast (was going to meet up with a friend), and rather than kill him... I shot him in the legs and left him. We were probably between Cherno and Balotta. Yeah, pretty messed up. I felt bad. But then I moved on with my life. -
server is Chicago 135

Whatever the other survivors are driving xD
-
it might be, but those people are regulars ont he server (i see one of them playing a LOT!). also, i made sure to hide the bodies so if they came back.... well, all they'd hear is some buzzing :P if they were hackers though, they at least didn't hack me to death after. although they were still on the server for hours, i never saw them again (staying clear on the north side of the map haha)
-
While I'm all for just about every type of banditry, this I find just plain stupid and pathetic. But back on the topic of killing fresh spawns, if I'm out in the open I'll probably let them live, but occasionally I'll take them out in a city if I see them potentially becoming a threat (ideally if there are a lot of guns around). it's all abotu survival.

Murdering people with the enfield.
DrunkPunk replied to Sister Fister's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
haha that guy at the end, i love that you can hear people eat/drink. my most memorable moment was walking from balotta to cherno, and for once I decided to take the treeline (i tend to find people on the coast so I usually go that way). running along, I suddenly hear *munch munch munch*.... hit the deck, turn around and see some guy hiding under a tree, facing hte road. easiest GPS I ever got. also, haters gonna hate. i love the enfield. if it didn't attract so many damn zombies I would use it more often.
