  1. So I've been playing for two weeks or so now. Haven't been having much success surviving in the game due to bandits and general encounters with players who shoot on sight. I'd heard a lot about people tent hunting so decided to give it a go. Spent an an hour or two running through forests where I thought good tent locations would be and managed to find myself an AS50 as well as all the loot except a range finder. After finding this loot I thought I may as well go test it out so I headed back to Cherno to get my revenge on all the bandits who sit and kill newbies trying to make their way through the game. Upon arriving at Cherno and taking position on a hill in a forest, a military vehicle drove into town and three players with bandit skins got out, my first targets to get my revenge on. This is when I started shaking, heart beat dramatically increased and I was struggling to hold the mouse still. I zero'd in to what range I thought they were at and shot twice, taking two bandits out while the other hurried back to his car and drove off. Suddenly a bullet shot passed me and I jumped up and sprinted for cover. Using third person and leaning out from behind my tree I could see a sniper situated on top of the largest building in Cherno (the hotel that you need a chopper to get onto?). I re located and took aim. I had no idea how far away he was but it was foggy so that didn't help either. Once again I zero'd to what I thought he was at and shot straight for his head. I was so excited when I saw a stream of blood come from his head and he drop to the ground. I had to abort then because I was shaking so much I couldn't keep the mouse still. While you 'veteran' players out there might think how super lame I am, this was one of the most thrilling experiences I've ever had in a video game and I can't wait for more like it. Does anyone else have any experiences like this? I'm interested to know.
  2. Has happened to me many times. pretty sure it's just a bug. Alpha is Alpha...

    Hacker NZ 25

Oh, then as soon as I spawned, hacker named 'Blackboi' teleported to me then teleported me to 3 guys near a chopper, who shot me straight away of course.. Yay for a sever full of hackers?

    Hacker NZ 25

Hacker on NZ35 named Ricky. Came running up behind me on a hill near Cherno. Shot him twice with my AS50 and he then opened up with his auto crossbow onto me. Happened 7:20pm AEST

    Too many sniper rifles

So you've never been to stary PvP have you? That can get pretty intense up there with gang vs gang firefights. Lots of planning and teamwork. It seems you're just sitting in Cherno/Elektro getting shot down by the lone wolfs. Get out of the main cities and go north in a group.
  7. Not just north, the western boarders as well as in any forest that isn't near an important point on the map are usual spots. People can hide vehicles ANYWHERE on the map though.

    Make Dayz Scary Again.

It's an Alpha.. You can't expect a 100% brilliant game with heaps of new and exciting things going on. You're here to test the game. You do realise they're working on the stand alone right? While they said they will keep updates coming on the Alpha, they're not going to be introducing many big new things into the game. Stand alone will have heaps of new things, stuff to be on the lookout for (Wild animals I believe was one of the things). Rocket has said that there are limitations to the Arma II engine and that changing how zombies work and implementing new things into the game is extremely difficult and impossible in some situations. While I can see how some people may think a apocalyptic zombie survival game should be horror (who knows, it could be in the standalone), it's pretty hard to make zombies more threatening at the moment.

    Too many sniper rifles

Remove one of the most important parts of the game? You're kidding right? Do you know how many players would just stop playing if snipers were removed? Player vs Player is a HUGE part (at the moment really the only part) of this game and snipers play a key role in this. You really need to stop complaining about snipers and start learning how to deal with them. Check key sniper points, stick to walls, move randomly not in a straight line.

    Make Dayz Scary Again.

I'm not sure, but this game isn't a horror game.. It's not really meant to scare the crap out of you. It's a realistic survival game in a zombie apocalypse. Zombies will be more difficult to deal with in the stand alone and I'm not sure about you but whenever I encounter another player my heartbeat races, it will always be thrilling for me. If you want scary/horror, go play a horror game.

    Too many sniper rifles

I think you're missing the point that the spawn chance of snipers is already quite low. There is a large amount of them out there because of duping, scripting, alt f4 and server hopping to farm. Most of this will be fixed in the stand alone hopefully but there's always going to be groups of people who farm weapons have them stockpiled. You're just going to have to get used to it and see how the stand alone turns out. You know the snipers are there so stay in cover more and you won't die. Or you know, avoid Elektro and Cherno all together and then you won't really have a sniper problem.

    Combat logging

You're only the 400th person to post this idea. They're not planning on doing much about alt f4 until the stand alone. So get used to people doing it.
  13. Queenslander here. I spend a lot of time on Dayz but solo play isn't really working out. Will team up with you guys if you still have space. Account Name: Frogsoup Profile Name: SENS

    Wtf?!

Like someone else already said, it's that CPU. You really should upgrade that if you're planning on gaming with that laptop. Also, having a dedicated graphics card would help since that's probably also holding you back.

    Day Z Mac Compatible?

Bootcamp or a virtual machine is the only way I believe. Also, make sure your make is able to run the game as they usually have lower end graphics cards.
  16. Just purchased the game and have installed the Dayz mod, can get into games but have noticed that I seem to have a hard time running the game at ANY graphics setting. It's very blurry and laggy when maxed (Post-Processing I assume) and still very laggy when I move around at lower settings. I've fiddled around with the graphics making sure the resolution and 3D resolution are set the same, turned off Post-Processing, view distance set to less than 2000. No matter what I set the graphics at it seems to run exactly the same at max and lowest settings. Graphics card drivers are all up to date as well. PC Specs. CPU: AMD Phenom 1055T X6 GPU: ATI 5870 RAM: 6GB DDR3 OS: WIndows 7 64bit Thanks for any help.

    Having troubles running the game

Actually, the problem seemed to have been the game only running off the one core to start with. For any future people searching for a problem like this.I found "-cpucount=6 -exthreads=7", a way to force the game to launch with more than the default cores and I'm now running with everything maxed out with minimal lag.

    Having troubles running the game

    AMD Phenom 1055T X6 like I said.. It's a 2.8MHz 6 core (I'm going to assume the game doesn't run all 6 cores)

    Having troubles running the game

Update.. Been pushing through the horrible <10fps and playing a bit. Frames seem to increase as I lose more blood and the greyness sets in. Also, huge graphic glitches when around cities and large towns which make me have to look at the floor or the rooftops. Seems my PC just doesn't want to play this game...

No one has any ideas or information? Probably just going to buy a new PC if no one is able to help...

What Desktop should i buy? PLEASE REPLY

To be honest, that's a horrible computer. As a general rule, don't EVER buy your computers or parts off ebay or cheap sites.. Your best bet is to build your own PC, obviously, but you mentioned your lack of computer knowledge so that's not really an option I guess although it is really easy and you can teach yourself to know what pieces go with what. If you're looking for a pre build PC you'll want to be looking specifically at the Processor(CPU) and Graphics card (GPU). Getting up a website that has benchmarks for each one helps you determine what's the best out there. Purchasing a new computer isn't something to rush into. Put some time into researching and reading reviews on parts to make sure you're buying the best. P.S I can't really help you build the PC since I'm not aware of prices in your currency/what sites are available to you. Google is your friend

    Having troubles running the game

Like I said in my first post, I tried that game at many different graphics settings, not just low and highest. It gives the same laggy results no matter what it's on. Also, changing my graphics cards settings outside the game had no effect on the games performance whatsoever.
