What the F I thought this has been fixed already? ( or was that only in A3 ?) #Some people are still running 7 year old computers and if games didn't push forward they would run it another 10. Sorry but PC hardware is reasonably priced these days and if you shop with bit of a knowledge you can get more than fair PC for $600. IF one is unable to save $600 in a years time you might be better off doing something else than playing a games then sorry to say

is the lenovo g475 good enough for dayz?
martink8190@gmail.com replied to irishairsoft1's topic in New Player Discussion
Even a desktop PC would be closer to the price of the laptop as per the link above - around £500 mark. Performance wise however, a desktop PC would still crush ( outperform ) any laptop much higher in price any day of the week and is why desktops are better choice for gaming as well video and picture editing. Desktops parts can also be easily upgradeable, unlike laptops. However if the only game that is being played is a dayz, spending money on gaming desktop may not be the ideal solution either though. -
Gameplay Mechanics Pt5 - The Interface
martink8190@gmail.com replied to akafugitive's topic in Suggestions
Ok I think its clever and elegant solution and I would be delighted to see something like this in arma 3 but I'm not that sure about dayz tbh. My concern would be the micromanaging when being jumped on by zombies exedra although I acknowledge the existence of the quick access toolbar. It would be important to store low ammo mags in the correct ( side ) pouch aside of the full fresh magazines as players who would just mix them with full ammo mag would hear empty ''click click'' sound when inserting empty mag -
Realised I miss one of the mosted hated "feature"
martink8190@gmail.com replied to xalienax's topic in General Discussion
Side chat was awesome and I like the ideas that you could disable them or be out of luck if your walkie talkie batteries run out. Maybe it would even lift the spirit of some mass murderers and they would find some other creative way to torture their victims then outright Kos them :) -
Gameplay Mechanics Pt4 - The Weapons
martink8190@gmail.com replied to akafugitive's topic in Suggestions
Weapon jamming would be interesting and welcome ( by me ) addition. Maybe even barrel wear / changing would be nice to add but I appreciate we can't have all the things we can think about. I like your ideas about the non slotted items but I think theyre bit too far in the dev cycle now.. EDIT - totally agree about the explosives topic coverage as well, there is some goldmine fun to be had with those and in addition to it - boobie traps, explosives as well vietnam style hand crafted -
Do you want pooping in this game?
martink8190@gmail.com replied to Jumbaliah's topic in General Discussion
The poll is missing the fuck off option. I'm outraged that mechanics like this get more attention than home made boobie traps and other explosive solutions. I want my explosives and couldnt care less about shiting in game and whatever will it cause -
Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)
martink8190@gmail.com replied to OrLoK's topic in New Player Discussion
It would run but you'd be far from happy at its performance and I'd recommend looking higher up the range £500 would get you quite nice desktop but without monitor and keyboard but its doable to build one ( although significantly less nicer ) for little less 1080p, high settings, FPS likely in the region of 35 in towns and over 50 everywhere else -
is the lenovo g475 good enough for dayz?
martink8190@gmail.com replied to irishairsoft1's topic in New Player Discussion
While there are some gaming laptops worth looking into if mobility is of utter importance ( but are also in the sphere of 1k and up ) most laptops are only good enough for office work. Unfortunately the lenovo g475 is so underpowered that not only will it not run dayz but it'll struggle at office work too...now that's something... ( apologies for the jab, its not directed at you and I'm just thinking aloud at how pathetic some hardware can still be in this day and age ) Can you stretch your budget to something like this? EDIT as the poster above me correctly pointed out you can not upgrade a laptop ( aside of HDD and CPU in which case CPU will cost as much as 1/2 the laptop ) -

I would love to play at night but it's unplayable for the multitude reasons already mentioned here already, simply not worth it -

TTBH at first I wasn't exactly pleased but in practice its not that bad and I actually welcome it as I haven't seen any better suggestion on how to deal with server hoppers -
Zombies can hit while sprinting?
martink8190@gmail.com replied to Mecole95's topic in General Discussion
As I've just found out not only can they hit while running but I got hit from good 5 m away lol  On the other hand I like how hard are they to kill and as a matter of fact I'd welcome if they took more ( 3 or 5 ) .45 ACP rounds to the torso ( one or two to the head ) but I dislike the hatchet nerf. Not only is it next to literally impossible to hit them in the head with said hatched due to the clumsy melee but I'd imagine a hatchet should be able to easily separate / split body parts. Overall, I don't like jumping zombies, if not for the difficulty then for the immersion -
SSD smashing the fps in cities
martink8190@gmail.com replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Yes and no. It doesn't increase fps per se but can smoothen out some of the issues like when you look away and zoom in. I'm betting not many could go back to HDD's once they've tasted SSD speeds ;) I don't remember if you have to manually disable defrag in W7 but should be disabled by default. Either way you can set it to ''maintenance'' every second day to get rid of junk that the SSD doesn't need to store any longer ( temp files and stuff ) Feel free to use CCleaner to get rid of error reports and other junk too as the windows one doesn't clean as deep as ccleaner. If suits, right click on recycle bin, properties and select ''don't move files to recycle bin and remove them immediately'' option but you might want to keep the ''display confirmation dialog'' Windows 8 allow to revert to factory like settings without the need to have any ''Restore Points'' so it can be disabled as well but just throwing it out there as an another option to de-activate another unnecessary thing that takes up the precious space. Seriously?? WHY can't we upload pictures directly from HDD??! SIGH -

You should consider upgrading to better card but you would see greater benefits from better & faster CPU You need to include more details than that, like what is the chipset / gpu card or better yet, the laptop model - but assuming its 945 chipset - you will have a hard time running it on anything better than very low resolution with everything on low. Upgrading the CPU should be doable though ( unless the graphic card of that laptop is integrated and too weak and outdated to even warrant upgrading the CPU ) -
Wich vehicles do you want to see in the SA?

Servers becoming a problem
martink8190@gmail.com replied to BadAsh (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
It's really annoying. I really don't get why don't they password their clan servers if they kick everyone. It became seriously frustrating experience in the mod with all the private hives and modded servers back then. O'rly? You realize some people don't play this game for PvP exclusively do you -
New SMG Announced... Any guesses?

I find aiming in 1st person little too close with a handgun and widening the FOV doesn't seem to help much without breaking the 3th person view... Anyone else finding the same?

1st person too zoomed in when aiming?
martink8190@gmail.com replied to martink8190@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
The problem is that the + or - has to be hold / pressed down which is ok for zooming in but not so much when trying to un-zoom @Gews - precisely that is what I mean -

The screen is LED backlit so the brightness should be ok however the current best and affordable are IPS screens. IPS provides great brightness and color reproduction but I don't believe IPS is available for laptops though or I am yet too see one. The choice you have with NTSC option is that it will have bit better color reproduction but I have to highlight again that the stock ( non NTSC ) option should be more than good enough for majority of people and IMO is not needed. It does but far, far more important is the source itself primarily eg.- if someone plays a bad quality Mp3 file it will sound terrible no matter how expensive or good the equipment playing it at the end is. On the other hand a low quality gear, eg.- headphones or speakers will sound better with good Mp3 ( better than 320 kbps ) or FLAC song but then again it will lack the capability to fully understand the audio file and play it at its best and this is where quality headphones come into play. Connection matters too - better results will be with optical cable than with regular 3.5'' audio jack The point being, majority of people would find a stock sound card insufficient much later in that whole chain and you would just be better off throwing in a DAC ( digital to analog convertor ) than spending any more on a sound card -
1st person too zoomed in when aiming?
martink8190@gmail.com replied to martink8190@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
As per my early post if I widen the FOV to get comfortable 3th pers view it is then too wide for 1st person and make seem everything...too far -

martink8190@gmail.com replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Fair point but I still would like to have auto run even if for walking only. For instance I have to pull my hairs when I have to lead my char up to a steep hill enduring the supercasual walk all the way up. Authentic? sure but bloody time consuming too -

martink8190@gmail.com replied to martink8190@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
I think it greatly depends on screen size and resolution. I play on 24'' 1080p and when clearing buildings with a pistol in hand it feels like I'm wearing a cardboard box over my head and all I am able to see is half of the room where I should have a clear visual of the entire room. -

Going through the specs I would expect solid 50 fps at medium settings and should not dip below 30 at very high. Cooling pad is always a good idea ( remember to set the laptop power management to performance ) but most of all it is vital to keep the cpu fan clear of dust, weather cooling pad is used or not. AFAIk the 8800GT were made with 512MB and even though it's a very old car now, it should be able to display the game at very low resolutions of 1024x768 and lower. Unfortunately anything better than said 8800GT will go a miss as your CPU is already severely limited. I'm afraid the platform is simply too outdated now Nobody likes glossy displays so the anti-glare screens are little better but not for a fat premium markup. I also wouldn't worry too much about the color calibration and it is only worth it if you need the best color reproduction with no compromise. ( then again graphic designers would just get pro external display to begin with ) Undertaking the risk of being cut - Get an SSD. Any modern-ish laptop benefits greatly from an SSD drive. Conventional ( even top of the range ) desktop HDD's are simply too slow and HDD's in laptops are far more limited. You will not be able to get maximum out of your laptop with conventional HDD. Onboard sound card is fine and I'd put the saved funds towards better headphones like AKG K550
